Question of the Day - What show do you think has had the most lasting effect on TV today?

Welcome to the final Question of the Day for this week.

Today's question comes from Pigeon666 who asks.

"What show do you think has had the most lasting effect on TV today?"

This is a great question and took me a while to think about some of the shows that have had an impact on TV Today.

To start with there are some obvious bigs ones from the early days. Shows such as The Mary Tyler Moore Show which was one of the first mainstream female shows. Cosby Show which was probably the first successful Black sitcom, the classic Twilight Zone, Doctor Who, The Prisoner, etc And one of the daddy's of them all Star Trek.

Moving forward, shows such a Hill Street Blues, Saturday Night Live and even Dallas still have left a large impact on todays tv output and paved the way for many imitations.

And even more recently, you can still feel the classics like the X-Files, Buffy and Twin-Peaks in todays shows.

And what of the future? We'll I think LOST will have a great impact on future generations of shows in terms of it's storytelling devices. We've already seen shows like FlashForward, The Event, Rubicon and Persons Unknown etc taking certain elements of LOST and trying them themselves.

I think my personal favourite out of all them has to be The Twilight Zone.

So what about you? What shows from the past do you think have had the biggest impact on Today's TV, and what about current shows? Which ones will have an effect long after they are finished?

Hope you all have a great weekend and see you on Monday for another QOD. Please don't forgot if you have a question to complete the form below to submit one to us.
