Nikita - Episode 1.10 - Dark Matter - Review

After a 3 week hiatus, Nikita returned with yet another brilliant episode, 'Dark Matter'.

'Dark Matter' saw the return of Owen as he leaked a video of Division killing a political figure in Chile to the media. A CIA agent, Ryan, reveals that he has been doing research and believes that there is a secret agency responsible for the murder and many others. Percy frames Ryan for the murder of the political figure leading Nikita and Owen to go and rescue him.

Division follow Nikita and Owen and try to capture them but are thrown off after the US army arrests them first. When they are being flown back to the US, Nikita reveals to Ryan that the secret agency is called Division. In return, he helps them to escape off the plane.

I loved the return of Owen in this episode and it was great to see him and Nikita working together to bring Division down. At the beginning of the episode in the swimming pool, we saw just how vulnerable and alone Nikita is so it was great to see her and Owen together at the pool at the end of the episode especially now it seems Michael is her biggest enemy. I would have liked to have seen a bit more dialogue between Michael and Nikita when Division had them surrounded so we could see the effects that the previous episode had on their relationship.

Back at Division, Jaden is growing ever more suspicious of Alex after she forced Jaden to lie for her. It seems Alex can't do anything without Jaden being there to stop her. While Alex was spying on Percy, Jaden went into her room and found possible evidence that Alex is not who she says she is hiding in her stereo player. However, when Jaden goes to a guard, Alex is innocently back at her room.

As much as I dislike Jaden, her being so suspicious of Alex adds great suspense to the story. How long will it be till Jaden discovers Alex is working for Nikita? As Amanda is already suspicious of Alex, I don't think it would take much convincing from Jade that she is a spy and leaks information.

Overall, 'Dark Matter' was yet another suspenseful and dramatic episode of Nikita which seems to be getting better and better every week. For me, the writers are going in the right direction and know how to balance the emotion, suspense and drama which makes each episode enjoyable to watch. Next week's episode looks like it is going to be brilliant and this next week will not go fast enough!
