Nikita - Episode 1.07 - The Recruit - Recap

Nikita returned with its seventh episode, ‘The Recruit’ last night.

For me, this was one of the best episodes yet of the freshman show. We were introduced to two new recruits, Sarah and Robbie. Robbie lived by Division and was about to graduate where as Sarah was a struggling recruit.

Alex warns Nikita about Sarah going on a mission and Nikita immediately knows that it is a suicide mission. Nikita finds Sarah at the location and saves her. I did find Sarah rather annoying. She didn't seem to listen to Nikita even though she had just saved her life, and then she went and escaped again which nearly got her and Nikita killed. Thanks to Michael lying to Percy, Division now think Sarah is dead leaving Sarah to go free. There was a very touching moment when Nikita took her to see her son for one final time. It was a very emotional scene.

Back to Robbie, he decided to go rogue after being made a guard rather than an agent. He shot other guards and then turned on his own friend, Alex, to try and escape. I really enjoyed this twist! It added another load of drama to the show and nearly had me hiding behind a cushion when he took Alex hostage. I wasn't quite sure what Amanda meant at the end when she said cleaner, did she mean an actual cleaner? I had it in my head that that was some cool name for an agent who goes round killing possible threats off but maybe she did mean an actual cleaner!

This episode had me on the edge of my seat. The episode was full of suspense and action while still managing to bring in emotional moments such as Alex suffering the loss of her friends and Nikita reliving Daniel’s murder. I can’t express enough how much I am enjoying Nikita. It is just what TV needed. We are long overdue a powerful woman on our screens.

I also really enjoy the actors in this show. Each of them fit their role perfectly and are really starting to gel well together. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store!
