The Good Wife - Episode 2.02 - Double Jeopardy – Review

So… A week has past and here we are with my second review of The Good Wife. I’m sorry but I’ll have to make this one a bit shorter, because I don’t have enough time on my hands.

Truth is… I really loved that episode! I adored it! It was really well-written, really smart and entertaining at the same time.
The episode opens with scene showing an end of a lawsuit. Alicia’s and Will’s client is found not guilty, he was charged with murder. We get to see Cary’s angry face – he was part of the prosecution and he lost again. A few scenes later Cary pulls some strings and Will’s client is charged again – but this time by the court of army. The army court works differently than the public one, so Will and Alicia definitely have problems.
Now… I know that some people won’t like my opinion but here it is – I hate the army. I really do. All that system is rotten inside, everything is so inhuman and sometimes just stupid. That blind obedience just turns people into sheep. And I’ve been tired of all the other shows like Grey’s Anatomy or Brothers & Sister, which show the army as something that could be inspiring and positive thing. Some character even had lectures about how proud they are of their loved ones in the army! The newest episode of The Good Wife showed a different picture. Some of the things looked so absurd… Will found out that one member of the jury had a personal interest in the trial and wasn’t really objective. The army judge told that member “I am ordering you to be objective!” and the member just said “I will be!” and everyone was okay with it, like an order from an upstanding officer could really change a person’s believes. Those little absurd things were happening during the whole trial. That made the episode so entertaining – seeing Will and Alicia fighting against something so strict. I don’t remember being that interested in any trial on that show before. I won’t tell you the outcome of the case, but it’s not black or white, it has its shades of grey, like everything on that show.

The off-trial storylines were good as well. We get to see some old faces, like a famous call girl and a particular twitter-lady. Becca’s return was really good and I think she will stick for more than one episode. Zach, Alicia’s son, is trying to be detective again, and I don’t think it would end well. And Mr. Gold was pretty awesome this episode, I’m almost starting to forgive him for deleting Will’s call in the season premiere. And is it just me, or did Alicia’s daughter really grow up! She was a just a kid last season, but know she looks like a younger version of Eliza Dushku!

And that’s all from me for today! I politely ask you to hit the comments below! Tell me what you thought of the episode and the review.

Take care,
Martin
