Day 8: And so here we are at the final day of the first round, and it's been some ride so far. I have shouted at my computer in amazement at some results, and been grinding teeth as others sneaked through. In terms of the competition for guessing the correct results, I am on 9, which shows how wrong I've been and also how unpredictable it has been too. Yesterday was a much quieter day, with only the 'Supernatural' vs. 'Freaks & Geeks' giving over 1000 votes. Freaks tried and failed in a midday bid to take the lead and Supernatural never looked back afterwards. Also, Mad Men strolled through to the next round with over 70% of the votes, as well as TV Classic MASH and in a slightly surprising result, NCIS beating Six Feet Under. That was definetely the shock of the day, and perhaps a sign that some of the cable channels don't have the audience to win the competition.

Onto today's battles and here we have the very popular revamp of Battlestar Galactica taking on rating juggerhead CSI, a show that certainly has revolutionised the police procedural over the years, and also we have current comedy favourites How I Met Your Mother taking on Chuck in what is certain to be an interesting battle. Also, in the final two polls of round 1 in the other post we have Friday Night Lights vs. Alias & 30 Rock vs. The X Files. Who will have the final four places. Vote and find out. Battlestar Galactica vs. CSI
Battlestar Galactica

Seasons: 4 (Finished)
Format: Post-apocalyptic fiction/Serial drama/Philosophical fiction/Military science fiction/Political drama/Space opera
Synopsis: The story arc of Battlestar Galactica is set in a distant part of the galaxy, where a civilization of humans live on a series of planets known as the Twelve Colonies. In the past, the Colonies had been at war with a cybernetic race known as the Cylons. With the unwitting help of a human named Gaius Baltar, the Cylons launch a sudden sneak attack on the Colonies, laying waste to the planets and devastating their populations. The approximately 50,000 human survivors flee into space aboard any spacecraft they can reach. Of all the Colonial Fleet, the Battlestar Galactica appears to be the only military capital ship that survived the attack. Under the leadership of Colonial Fleet officer Commander William "Bill" Adama, the Battlestar Galactica and its crew take up the task of leading the small fugitive fleet of survivors into space in search of a fabled refuge known as Earth.
Fan Review: Chris Bergi
BSG is basically a story about characters and their decisions in the fight for survival against an overwhelming, self-created enemy, the Cylons. But the Sci-Fi topic is just the setting for this drama, there's no annoying techno-babble or time-jumps.
The mini-series takes you on a journey to a different human society facing extinction due to their own creation, the robots called Cylons, coming home to kill their creators in a surprise attack. But a few dozen ships, led by the old military ship Battlestar Galactica and about 50.000 people are able to flee. On the run from the Cylons the last remains of the human race learn that there are Cylon agents among their fleet, looking and acting like humans. This creates a thrilling atmosphere; humanity will face controversial topics like torture, terrorism, faith, moral dilemmas, etc. and each character develops during their journey. You're a part of the crew, you will love and hate the characters for their decisions, and you will get entangled in the whole setting, its mysteries and be carried away.
THIS IS CSI: LAS VEGAS.

CSI

Seasons: 10 (ongoing)
Format: Police Procedural/Mystery
Synopsis: he series follows Las Vegas criminalists as they use physical evidence to solve grisly murders in this unusually graphic drama, which has inspired a host of other cop-show "procedurals". An immediate ratings smash for CBS, the series mixes deduction, gritty subject matter and popular characters. The network quickly capitalized on its hit with spin-offs CSI: Miami and CSI: NY, and renewed CSI for an eleventh season on May 19, 2010.

Fan Review: (This is one of the 3 reviews I managed to lose the Authors name, Sorry! Post your name and I will give you the Credit :)
Though it's a show that most people have never heard of, Chuck has gained a passionate and well-deserved fanbase. It's devoted fans have brought the nearly cancelled show back for at least 2 extra seasons, something very rare in the all-about-ratings world of TV. It's a true "cult show", and it's obvious why. Described as a comedy, or sometimes dramedy, it can't truly be a part of any one genre. It's the perfect mix of comedy, drama, action, romance, and sci-fi, pulling it off in a way that not many shows can. The three-dimensional characters don't fit into stereotypes, and they and the show as a whole have undergone necessary changes in the last 3 seasons that will keep the show interesting for years to come. Maybe you already are a Chuck fan, but maybe you've never heard of it or have but think you won't like it. I guarantee that it's highly addicting, and if you give it a try you will most likely find it to be very entertaining and some of the best hours of your life.
