Metered Market Results

CBS 6.7/11
ABC 5.1/ 8
NBC 4.2/ 7
Fox 2.9/ 5
CW 1.6/ 2

-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Thursday 11/08/12:
ABC and NBC: – 2 each, CW: -11, CBS: -26, Fox: -31

“The Big Bang Theory” (CBS), “The Voice” (NBC), “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC), “Scandal” (ABC)

-Losers (excluding repeats):
“Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” (ABC), “The X Factor” (Fox), “Sean Saves the World” (NBC), “The Michael J. Fox Show” (NBC), “Glee” (Fox), “Parenthood” (NBC)

-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS topped this first Thursday in November, as usual, with a 31 percent advantage in the household overnights over second-place ABC. But it was not just about the Eye net, with the 8:30 p.m. portion of an 8-9 p.m. Thursday edition of “The Voice” on NBC inching past episode six of “The Millers” on CBS by three percent (7.0 rating/11 share vs. 6.8/11).

“The Big Bang Theory” on CBS, featuring a second guest spot by the legendary (and now Emmy Award winning) Bob Newhart led the night with an 11.2/18 at 8 p.m. Next was aforementioned “The Millers” (#2: 6.8/11 at 8:30 p.m.), followed by typical overnight performances for sitcoms “The Crazy Ones” (#2: 5.5/ 9) and “Two and a Half Men” (#2: 5.6/ 9) and sophomore drama “Elementary” (#2: 5.6/10) from 9-11 p.m. Although the combination of “The Crazy Ones” and “Two and a Half Men” (which featured a guest spot by “Wonder Woman” star Lynda Carter) trailed year-ago 9-10 p.m. time period occupant “Person of Interest” (9.5/15 on 11/08/12) by a hefty 42 percent in the overnights, the difference in the young key demos will certainly not be as severe.

On NBC, the one-hour Thursday edition of “The Voice” scored a 6.7/11 from 8-9 p.m., which of course lifted the network to a season high in the time period. And while lead-out “Sean Saves the World” rose to a five-week high at 9 p.m., a third-place 3.3/ 5 was still 53 percent below the 8:30 p.m. portion of lead-in “The Voice” (and 40 percent below competing “The Crazy Ones” on CBS). Calling former “Will & Grace” co-star Megan Mullally: Can you make a guest appearance?

Next on NBC was recent entry “The Michael J. Fox Show,” which slipped to a fourth-place 2.6/ 4 at 9:30 p.m., followed by relocated “Parenthood” at a very disappointing (and distant third place) 2.9/ 5 at 10 p.m.

In the battle of “The Voice” versus “The X Factor,” Simon Cowell and company on Fox trailed by 57 percent with a distant third-place 2.9/ 5 in the overnights from 8-9 p.m. Year-to-year, that was down by 38 percent (versus a 4.7/ 7 on 11/08/12). And it led into “Glee” at a depressed 3.0/ 5 at 9 p.m. (#4), which dipped by 19 percent from the 3.7/ 6 on the year-ago evening. At this point, there is no reason to believe “The X Factor” will return for a fourth season.

Elsewhere, ABC continues to struggle at 8 p.m. care of unnecessary spin-off “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland,” which finished fourth with a mere 2.6/ 4. But veteran “Grey’s Anatomy” perked up to a first-place 6.2/10 from 9-10 p.m., which led into an also dominant 6.5/11 for “Scandal” at 10 p.m. Year-to-year, “Scandal” increased by a hefty 41 percent.

Over at The CW, “The Vampire Diaries” (#5: 1.8/ 3) built by 12 percent from one week earlier, but it was still 18 percent below the 2.2/ 3 in the overnights on the year-ago evening. And next was week four of drama “Reign” (#5: 1.4/ 2), which increased by eight percent from one week earlier. Four-week overnight track for “Reign”: 1.5/ 2 – 1.4/ 2 – 1.3/ 2 – 1.4/ 2).
