-Ratings Breakdown:
ABC and NBC tied for overnight Monday dominance, each with a hefty 3.5 household rating point advantage over third-place Fox. But the home of “The Voice,” NBC, will hold a solid advantage in adults 18-49 (and other key young demos), while Fox is poised for second place. While CBS’ revamped sitcom block experienced minor growth thanks to “2 Broke Girls,” now at 8:30 p.m. ET, into an encore of “The Big Bang Theory” at 9 p.m. it was not enough to lift it out of fourth place for the evening in the household overnights.

It was neck-and-neck in the overnights between “Dancing With the Stars” versus “The Voice” from 8-10 p.m., with a 9.0 rating/14 share for “Dancing With the Stars” just one-tenth of a rating point (or one percent) above the 8.9/14 for “The Voice.” Year-to-year, however, “Dancing With the Stars” dipped by 13 percent (versus a 10.4/16 on 10/15/12), while “The Voice” built by 10 percent (versus an 8.1/12). Regardless, both reality/competitions remain highly competitive options with two very different audiences and the absence of the live “Dancing With the Stars” results show on Tuesday only makes this Monday edition stronger creatively.

Week four of drama “The Blacklist” on NBC won the 10 p.m. hour with a 7.3/12 in the overnights, which was 38 percent above year-ago occupant “Revolution” (5.3/ 9). Retention for “The Blacklist” out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of “The Voice” (9.5/14) was respectable at 77 percent.

Second at 10 p.m. was healthy “Castle” on ABC at a 7.2/12, followed by struggling “Hostages” on CBS, which sunk to a series-low 3.6/ 6. Comparably, “Hostages” was 39 percent below “Hawaii Five-O” on the year-ago evening (5.9/10). Four week overnight track for “Hostages”: 5.1/ 9 – 4.1/ 7 – 3.8/ 6 – 3.6/ 6.

Earlier in the evening on CBS, “2 Broke Girls” moved back to 8:30 p.m. with a third-place 5.2/ 8, which was 33 percent above the second, and final, episode of canceled “We Are Men” last week (3.9/ 6 on Oct. 7) and 27 percent above failed year-ago time period occupant “Partners” (4.1/ 6 on 10/15/12). Retention for “2 Broke Girls” out of “How I Met Your Mother” (#3: 5.5/ 9 at 8 p.m.) was also solid at 95 percent.

Returning “Mike & Molly” will inherit the Monday 9 p.m. half-hour on the Eye net effective on November 4. But airing in its place last night (and next week as well) was an encore of “The Big Bang Theory” at a third-place 5.6/ 8. Although that was 10 percent above “2 Broke Girls” last week (5.1/ 8 on Oct. 7), week four of lead-out “Mom” was flat at a 4.9/ 7 (#3) at 9:30 p.m., which was 18 percent below year-ago occupant “Mike & Molly” (6.0/ 9 on 10/15/12). Four-week overnight track for “Mom”: 5.5/ 8 – 4.9/ 7 – 4.9/ 7 – 4.9/ 7.

Consistent, meanwhile, was the observation on Fox with the successful 8-10 p.m. pairing of dramas “Bones” (#4: 4.8/ 7) and “Sleepy Hollow” (#4: 4.9/ 7) on par with one week earlier. And that translated into a 2.1 rating/6 share among adults 18-49 for “Bones” and a 2.8/ 7 in the demo for “Sleepy Hollow,” based on the live plus same day data.

The CW capped off this fourth Monday of the new TV season with episode two of the new seasons of newly paired “Hart of Dixie” (#5: 1.1/ 2) and “Beauty and the Beast” (#5: 0.7/ 1), which just cannot compete. One year earlier, “Beauty and the Beast” scored a 1.5/ 2 in the Thursday 9 p.m. hour (out of “The Vampire Diaries”) on 10/18/12.
