Scene Of The Week - May 15, 2016 + POLL

15 May 2016

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in past seven days on TV.

2 BROKE GIRLS, "And the Big Gamble", May 12, 2016, Actors: Kat Dennings, Beth Behrs
The Scene: Caroline comforts Max after her break-up (picked by Samantha Benjamin)

BANSHEE, "Truths Other Than the Ones You Tell Yourself", May 13, 2016, Actors: Antony Starr, Hoon Lee and more, The Scenes: Brock and Hood talk about Hood and who he really is & Job gets revenge on Leo
DarkUFO:
Brock and Hood are tied up and held captive and they have a chat about Hood and who he really is.
Samantha Benjamin: Job gets revenge on Leo by branding him with his finger prints.

BATES MOTEL, "Forever", May 9, 2016, Actors: Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, Nestor Carbonell, The Scene: Final Montage
Darth Locke:
I did suspect form the reveal in the previous episode, that either Norman using the potential gas leak problem to either his advantage or something the show might randomly use later with the house exploding, was just a matter of when and which way it would be used (not to mention a nice shout out to Lost with Kate Austen-like familiarity)! But nothing, I mean NOTHING could prepare me for the way this sequence was so beautifully filmed, from Norman singing with Norma, to watching him rig the furnace, to going through the ventilation shafts, and Norman going through and shutting each register in every room, but Norman's bedroom, let alone with topping it off with Romero trying to come to rescue and resuscitate Norma, in which again, reminded of me LOST with Sayid and the death of Shannon! Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, Nestor Carbonell, and (in an earlier scene) Max Thieriot really had amazing performances in this episode!!

BLACK-ISH, "Daddy Dre-Care", May 11, 2016, Actors: Anthony Anderson, Tracee Ellis Ross
The Scene: Bow reveals to Dre that she's pregnant
Klutzy girl:
Both their reactions were adorable and I loved them watching their kids. So excited to seeing what happens with this storyline in season three!

GAME OF THRONES, "Oathbreaker", May 8, 2016, Actors: Kit Harington and more, The Scene: The ending
Justyna K:
I continue to enjoy Jon and Bran's stories this season the most. I loved that we got another great flashback, especially cause it looks like we're gonna find out the truth about Tower of Joy soon. However, it was the fact that Ned actually heard Bran calling him, that really stole the moment for me. Fascinating! Can't wait for more. As for Jon... So good to have him back! All the scenes with him waking up, reuniting with his friends and the ending were so well done, yet I couldn't help but choose the last minutes of the episode. First the execution, what a brutal and powerful part. It was clear how much his brothers' (though mostly Olly's) betrayal hurt Jon and he had a hard time ending their lives. His decision made me think of the show's pilot and the introduction of Stark family, which makes it even more memorable. Also, the traitors' final words were really spot on, Ser Alliser Thorne staying true to himself was almost respectful and after everything Olly shouldn't (and didn't) say a word. Not that it mattered. Can't say I was happy (like I'm guessing most of the viewers) watching the execution but also won't tell you it hurt to see their story end. I am, however, very much excited about Jon's end of the watch. It's about time we see him move on from Castle Black. Just please, wait for Sansa, I need this reunion, especially knowing what happened to poor Rickon!

GREY'S ANATOMY, "At Last", May 12, 2016, Actors: Kevin McKidd, Justin Chambers and more
The Scene: The proposal
Jimmy Ryan:
Jo says she isn't ready to marry Alex, while Amelia proposes to Owen.

MARVEL'S AGENTS OF SHIELD, "Emancipation", May 10, 2016, Actors: Matthew Willig, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet, The Scene: Lash saves Daisy
Justyna K:
I did not see this one coming! I don't mean the plan, cause I was hoping to see Lincoln and May team up like that, but I was truly surprised to see Lash being in control like that. Him clearly helping the team fight Hive and save Daisy was not what I'd expect from him after so many deaths he caused. One could say, that in the end, Andrew won over Lash and made a choice to free Daisy, even though it cost him his life. For a while now, I was wondering what could be the resolution of his story, its purpose, but wouldn't guess it will end like that. I'm glad Andrew still had a say in his actions and it's good to finally see the real Daisy again but poor May. This one had to hurt... It was a great scene, with Lash easily winning with Hive and his soldiers, such a shame it didn't work. If there's one person who really stood a chance against them, that's Lash. Loved how he was able to stop Hive from infecting him! I will miss Andrew, but it's a comfort at least, to see him on the good side at the end. Wonderful episode, kudos to all the cast & crew for great work!

OUTLANDER, "Best Laid Schemes...", May 14, 2016, Actors: Caitriona Balfe and more
The Scene: Final Scene
Darth Locke:
Claire finds Jamie dueling with Jack "Black" Randall, being surrounded by soldiers, and having pregnancy complications.

PERSON OF INTEREST, "SNAFU", May 9, 2016, Actors: Michael Emerson, Jim Caviezel and more, The Scenes: Finch helps the machine find its anchor & The machine suffers from the facial recognition bug
Justyna K:
The show continues to be brilliant and it's easily one of the best series on TV. I already miss it! This week, in episode two especially, all the actors did an incredible job and the story of the Machine coming back "to life" proved even more compelling than I expected. The opening with the facial recognition bug was such a hilarious part! But since everyone else already mentioned the scene I wanted to add a shout-out to the moment when Finch helps his creation find its place in time and recognize the team for all the good they've done. This bond between Finch and the machine still amazes me. Michael Emerson makes all their scenes absolutely memorable. I'm so glad the system stays open for now as it gives us the opportunity for more of these moments to happen. The show had a fantastic start this year and it makes me think the final season might just prove to be the best one of them. Kudos to the entire wonderful team working on Person of Interest!
Laura Markus: I'm still not caught up on POI yet, but I watched this scene and laughed my face off. This was such a funny and creative way to open the episode, and hats off to all the actors pulling this off, especially Amy Acker. Also picked by Jimmy Ryan and DarkUFO
Samantha Benjamin:
I am so glad I started watching this show, even if I did choose the last season to do it.

THE 100, "Perverse Instantiation – Part One", May 12, 2016, Actors: Eliza Taylor, Paige Turco and more
The Scene: Abby hangs herself
Jimmy Ryan:
Abby drives a scalpel into Clarke's heart and hangs herself shortly after.

THE AMERICANS, "The Day After", May 11, 2016, Actors: Keri Russell and more
The Scene: Elizabeth drugs and seduces her friend's husband
DarkUFO:
Elizabeth drugs and seduces her friend's husband but starts to have regrets.

THE GOOD WIFE, "End", May 8, 2016, Actors: Julianna Margulies, Christine Baranski, The Scene: Final Scene with "The Slap"
Darth Locke:
After seven amazing seasons that proved that the story of Alicia Florrick was not only compelling and entertaining, but that the series itself was unexpectedly fluid and pushed itself beyond a political legal show, this slap from Diane just was an interesting and memorable way to pass the buck on, as I suspect that Alicia will still march on to wherever, but more over, like when Alicia slapped Peter at the beginning of the series, that slap also echoed back onto her, as she was the one that had to come to terms with her life choices and try to change. Now somewhat unsurprisingly we know a Diane and Lucca spinoff are in the works for CBS all access. So just like many the Good Wife episodes, we know life goes on, we just don't know to exactly where and if it's somewhere we expect to, as this series had this great way of side-stepping or walking right over it's own plots! I will miss the adventures of Alicia Florrick, but I doubt it's the last we will hear from her.

THE REAL O'NEALS, "The Real Other Woman", May 10, 2016, Actors: Martha Plimpton, Noah Galvin, The Scene: Eileen shows up to support Kenny at the new church
Laura Markus:
The relationship between Kenny and his mom continues to be one of the most fascinating dynamics on this show, and certainly the one with the most heart behind it. Eileen is trying in her own ways to be accepting of Kenny, and although it's difficult for her, she really is trying and Kenny notices this. "I can't believe she left." "I can't believe she came." - was heartwarming and really sweet, and the look on Kenny's face was adorable. She may not be the most accepting parent right off the bat, but she's trying her best, and that's all Kenny can ask for. Both actors were wonderful all throughout the episode.
