  1. If that had been the series finale I would have been disappointed, but seeing as there's another season I'm quite happy with it.

  2. OMG! What more can one say! :)

  3. The Mentalist season 6 finale was the best finale I have ever laid eyes upon.

  4. *screams faintly in the distance*

    Bring on season 7 OMG.

  5. THE BEST SEASON FINALE EVER!!!! EVERYTHING WAS SO PERFECT!!!!! JISBON FINALLY BECAME CANON! 6 SEASONS, 138 EPISODES... WORTH THE WAIT!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  6. WOW Let me love you Bruno Heller. That was a beautiful last episode for this amazing season and somehow I am happy they did not know about the season 7 when they filmed it so we got our "Happy End" and it is not the end and we will get more!!!!
And again let me throw all the awards to Simon Baker and his brilliant acting. So freaking perfect...I hope the important people will see it too soon. Get him an Emmy finally!!!

Can we have the season 7 right now? It´s not to much to ask for I think ♥

  7. so glad this isn't the series finale! I still think there's something up with Pike.

Why do we have to wait til 2015? Hopefully it'll replace on of the new shows that might fail...

Be happy I was too full and fat on other shows to catch up to this one. It would have been fun to deprive you of the opportunity to see Jisbon in a relationship, but I'll get this show next year! Maybe I can deprive you of a wedding instead.

  9. fun decent ep that was a bit on the predictable side and heavy on the shipper stuff for me, but I gave it a pass seeing how this was written as a possible series finale it delivered on that end. Good job by all.

  10. I think it was what I wanted to see, not in the way I wanted to see it. The general build up was poor and had no depth character wise.

    1) Pike yelling "yesss" when Lisbon agreed to marry him. Really? Was it a ball game and I missed it? Who on earth reacts like that to a commitment?

    2) Seriously the woman who most knows Jane on earth couldn't realize it was all a rouse? It would have been a thousand times more interesting if she had realized and she made it explicit she didn't care. If she said well, i'm going with you to Miami, see what you got.
    3) Suddenly Jane is seductive...and suddenly Lisbon is object of his desire. I don't buy it because it is not what the series has been building up for 6 years. These are two lonely people with a lot of issues and even traumas, they've reached this point precisely because of those traumas.
    4) Suddenly Jane is all cool and cocky when he was crying 30 seconds before...

The last scene, one I waited for a long time... even felt like breaking the fourth wall, very poor acting compared to the plane scene, I think done on purpose since this was supposed to be the series final scene. Overall, I felt it was like an episode where the good guy gets the girl and happy ending. And I was hoping it to be a difficult beginning for these two, a sincere, painful, truthful and heart-felt beginning of a new chapter in their lives, where they get to say everything they didn't say to each other.

I would have wanted Lisbon to interrogate Jane (they even had the interrogation room) and shed some tears. But no. It was "hey, love you too, PIKE WILL UNDERSTAND" and Jane "hey, I'll kiss you just because"...

Had higher expectations for this one, though it gave me everything I wanted to see.

  18. That pretty much was a series finale.

  19. Has there been an announcement that it's the final season? Because I haven't seen one yet. How many times did Community escape the bear despite the fact that it looked like it would get cancelled every season? If it has been announced as the final season, then I apologize, but if it hasn't then how exactly is your "prediction" less pathetic than his?

    ReplyDelete
  20. You are correct! I haven't seen anything official saying this will be the final season other than it being Baker/Tunney's end of contract.

  24. As much as I'd love it to stay on past next season, I'd also love a true final season so that everything that needs to be dealt with gets dealt with. I'd have been a little let down if this wound up being the end instead of just a season finale.

It would be nice if a miracle happened and the rating went up and the show could stay on longer.
People are missing out on a really good show.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I agreed with cho, they are like brother and sister. I've never thought the sexual chemistry was there. I think if the ratings and content of the show were stronger, like the first few season this wouldn't of happened. The mentalist over the past few years has been one of the most poorly handled shows on tv and now they are satisfying the crazy shipper community to keep it going.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Christy Aposhian19 May 2014 at 05:37

I thought Bruno Heller did a really good job on short notice. Because he was not sure if the show would be back and he wanted to make the viewers happy.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I gotta agree with you. I thought The Mentalist was better than this happy ending bullshit. I like Jane's speech on the plane and Baker played it perfectly but all in all it seemed trite and like Heller was giving into the whole Jisbon thing instead of giving us complex characters with deep emotional issues that could be worked out over time. Instead we got the "Hollywood" ending that all the helpless romantics craved. Both Baker and Tunney are better than this. I bet they cringed when they read the script and actually had to kiss each other. Even the kiss seemed forced and kinda fake and we're talking about a Simon Baker kiss, one of the best in the biz. Baker's performance was outstanding and much better than this clichéd ending actually deserved.

    ReplyDelete
  30. A perfect way to end the season :)

So glad that Jane realized his fears and insecurities, and once everything clicked together, Jane admitted his feelings/poured his heart out to Lisbon. These two deserve a lifetime of happiness after all they've been through.

Jane and Lisbon together at last. YAY!! So happy!!! :)

Can't wait for Season 7. It's going to a long wait *sighs sadly*.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Really? That's your excuse. You can't just admit that you were not only wrong but incredibly rude to fans of The Mentalist. Sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you. We got you!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I didn't notice. Was Jane still wearing his wedding ring?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yup. Kinda sad right? With Red John gone what else do they have? the Jane/Lisbon character were so complex and interesting and they've been reduced to a sad cliché. Feeling bad for Baker/Tunney who have to continue with this drivel. Heller jumped ship and what's left??

    ReplyDelete
  34. you know when you watch a scary movie at home, you get a blanket and keep it close to your face in case you are about to get scared. well that is the way I watch this episode with my shirt a substitute for a blanket and awkward a substitute for scared.
That's just how I felt most of the episode.
But I still love the show.

If this was a series finale I think this episode and later half of the season would have been near perfect all leading up to Jane's airport scene. But it wasn't a series finale and so the last 7 episode felt so awkward and rushed for me in the romance department. I think this was a mistake on their writers end thinking it might get cancelled, they should have known better, that it would have been renewed due to it airing on Sunday and syndication.

Anyway as a "if series finale" I would rate this 9/10 or Awesome here.
As a season finale 7/10 or OK here.
    till next season peace out.

Abbot and Cho were the best! The first one IS the Ultimate Jisbon Shipper. His reaction when Jane asked for his SUV was priceless and Cho having no idea and Abbot being annoyed by that and the "brother & sister" quote.

The were the highlight of the episode. It's good they did the 2 years time jump in the premier, it gave Jane time to come to terms with his wife now that he avenged her. I guess some people sees it rushed 'cause they didn't show it on-screen, but character wise, at the time he returns to the US, he sees life beyond his past and starts seeing options he wasn't seeing before.

Lisbon, on the other hand, always had feelings for him... I always tought this was a relationship that would always be fun to watch 'cause Jane will always be Jane Jajaja

    ReplyDelete
  36. yup I felt awkward watching the whole love part, this late season. They could of worked on dealing with people on the list that Jane said he knew who was on it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I had to hit the pause button multiple times because I felt I was on the verge of a heart attack. I'm glad Jane finally decided to stop pretending he was impervious to Lisbon's departure. I can't wait for next season!

    ReplyDelete
  38. The season finale ended too perfectly, more like the series finale. I wouldn't be surprised if either Jane or Lisbon wakes up in the final season opener, from an injury, to find out it was all a dream.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yes. At least that's what this article says --- > http://www.deadline.com/2014/05/mentalist-renewed-seventh-season-last-cbs/

    ReplyDelete
  40. Haha. I was right predicting they would use the series finale from Friends.

In the last couple of minutes the idea that Jane might be imagining Lisbon crossed my mind. But luckily they just faded in black.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Simon frickin Baker. Nailed it. Beautiful. Ahhhhhhh

    ReplyDelete
  42. That's not a confirmation. That's a "likely". Which doesn't mean a whole lot these days.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Cliché and far from perfect writing... BUT I'M GRINNING LIKE AN IDIOT!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. In fact it was filmed as a series finale.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I just rewatched. LOL Cho is clueless. :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Awesome episode, but Cho is definitely clueless.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I thought it was awesome. It's how they handle next season...bones really messed it up where as castle handled it well. I think simon as an actor is a lot like Nathan Fillion where he can pull off anything he is given so fingers crossed they handle the relationship well while keeping the show strong. Also I miss the old team but I'm liking the new team also, so I think they can do a lot of great stuff next season:)

    ReplyDelete
  48. I loved the ending scene although no one comes close to the perfection that is Castle's "Always".

  51. If that were true, it would be one of the few times that a dream teaser didn't bother me. I didn't have a problem with the airplane scene (Jane pulled it off well), but that reunion with Jane and Lisbon at the very end just felt a little too perfect. Almost as though they assumed the show would be cancelled and never filmed an alternative ending to the season. Even the case was solved too easily.

    ReplyDelete
  52. MagdaImmelvanTol19 May 2014 at 11:57

WHY!!! WHY!! does writers and producers always wait till the last 5 min to put the 2 main lead chracters together no build up a relationship or seeing them dating NO!! let them say ILY in the last 5 min to make the fans happy. We have seen this so many times it remembers me at Jag 9 seasons of waiting and in the last 5 min they finally realize they love each other UGH!!! I bet if Bruno knew the show was renewed for season 7 this episode wouldn't never be happened as the season finale of season 6.

I was not okay with the way Lisbon treated Spike she lied to him and used him in my eye's she said yes to marry Spike because she was mad at Jane i have a problem with woman who does such nasthy things if this episode will be actually happens and it will not be a dream from Lisbon then I am really disappointed in Lisbon.

The best part of this epiosde for me was Cho and Abbot and I agree with Cho Jane and Lisbon are more like brother and sister then lovers even the kiss scene at the end felt awkward.

I will not be surprised when the show comes back this all was a dream from Lisbon just before she would leave to DC. bc I think they have no clue how to write for Jane&Lisbon.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I've actually liked the direction of the show since Red John. In the earlier Mentalist seaons, the Red John stuff did not dominate every episode the way it did in the last season (which was a lot darker). These last episodes remind me of the earlier seasons of the Mentalist.

    ReplyDelete
  54. It was the perfect way to get them together. I was shedding tears of joy. So well done. I can't wait for next season.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'd be really disappointed if they went that route. I'd like to see the show revisit some loose ends (Blake Assoc) and explore Patrick coming to terms with being something other than a man out for vengeance.

    ReplyDelete
  56. @CancellationBear In this particular comment thread - people are taking you seriously. Somehow, I find that even more hilarious than your comments. ;) :)

Say all you have to say about full stomachs but everyone knows it's a case of the fox and the unreachable grapes (for now). Sour Loser!! Begone to the depths!!! Gnaw on the skeletal remains of the (deservedly) cancelled shows and hibernate in peace. :P ;) :)

Sigh...as a fan of the show and Jisbon, I'm overwhelmed with happiness. Loved the whole episode and had my heart in my throat the whole time. I know Lisbon should have caught onto the letter trick, but I don't really mind it that much. Simon Baker's acting in that plane scene, wow! Beautiful. I only wish the last scene could have been a little longer, but we get another season to see Jane and Lisbon together. Cho and Abbott's shenanigans were too hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  58. guiltypleasure19 May 2014 at 14:11

It is sooo sad...actually I would be really pissed off about that if I were Lisbon

    ReplyDelete
  59. I wasn't overly happy at first in the previous episodes about them most likely getting together, but now that it has happened I realize that I love it!! I completely lost it in the final scene. This ep kept me hooked the whole time! Great acting as well. Loved it! <3

    ReplyDelete
  60. I agree it's very sad but I don't think Lisbon will be mad she knows why he didn't take it off and she is a very compassionate person but I think he will take it off for her next season and it will be a very emotional scene.

    ReplyDelete
  61. It was perfect. I cried. Then grinned from ear to ear. I can't wait for season 7

    ReplyDelete
  62. It was so obvious that it was Jane who wrote the letter, I knew the second Abbot told him he was acting weird but I enjoyed the episode sooo much that I don't care.
Simon's acting in the plane scene seriously deserves an Emmy I was crying rivers and smiling like an idiot at the same time.

Forgot that I had an account. Happens to silly ones like me

    ReplyDelete
  64. it was definitelly a series finale, structured like one, with an ending like a series finale. That's why the case was pretty bleak, the point of the episode was getting Lisbon and Jane together. I'm curious for next season. Abbot and Cho exchange was incredibly funny xD and i aslo think that the episode was very truthful of Jane's character(instead of telling Lisbon how he felt, he tried to scam his was into that case just to convince Lisbon to stay).

    ReplyDelete
  65. HELL YEAH!!! Why am I shouting and crying again? Oh yes Jane finally confessed his feelings and planted a big ‘I LOVE YOU’ to Lisbon (which she returned later) in front of a whole plane load of people that apparently made all the women in the plane green with envy at Lisbon! And then Jane & Lisbon kissed!
    – This is definitely the most invested I’ve got in seeing a duo getting together after Rick & Kate got together in Castle.
    – Amazing acting from Simon Baker and Robin Tunney, especially Simon (who is always at the top of his game but was simply marvelous today). His face was a mirror to the turmoil of emotions running inside him.
    – Best episode of Season 6 after the ‘Red John’ episode. Now CBS’ decision to renew the show is put into perspective…we definitely need a Season 7!

  69. 'no build up' 'awkward'

YOU'RE FUNNY, TELL US ANOTHER JOKE

Also, dude, 'Spike'? Did you get drunk on a Buffy forum and wake up here?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Don't they? It's their show, I think they know pretty well their characters.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'm sure they will. And I'm sure they did shoot that episode as is, inc case it would be the last. Parenthood did the same. Tied it up in a nice little bow 'just in case' they weren't renewed. Lucky for both shows . . . they were. :)

    ReplyDelete
  72. Ugh, again, hope not. I think a rehash of will they/won't they (not to mention shades of the not "real" RedJohn to start season 4) would be pretty tired. Rather see them back to business, working case.
Maybe I should be reading the novels that Game of Thrones is based on to see how long Pike/Red Viper will be needed there. ;)
BTW totally agree with you on tying up with a bow, just in case.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Agreed about Red John and the UST between Jane and Lisbon.

The next season needs to move on AND be the best season ever in case it is the final season. Go out the way the show deserves to go out. We the fans and Baker and Tunney deserve no less.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Okay, bear with me here please because I'm trying to fully understand the implications of what you're saying here. So, Baker has one of the "best" on-screen kisses "in the biz" (IDK about this, because I'd have to compare his kisses to other on-screen kisses) but because he hated the script/having to have his character get together with Robin's character, those personal feelings were so overwhelming that in this particular instance he couldn't muster up the performance needed here? Interesting. I never really thought of it this way.

I agree it wasn't even close to some of the ones I've seen (from other actors), but I figured it was because he was being tender and sweet with her, as a man who loves and cherishes his girl would. So he started the kiss softly, and sort of relished it slowly. Then they parted and it faded to black. So they could have done a deeper, more intense kiss after that. That's the best I can make of it. It seemed lovely to me if that's what they were going for. Because I was surprised at how anti-climactic and lukewarm it seemed at first until I tried to reason it out. Huh. I wonder what the truth of it is.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'm trying to bear with you because that's not what I'm saying at all. Both have said that an onscreen kiss would be awkward because they are such good friends irl but I believe they are both professionals and wouldn't let that get in the way of a performance. However that just didn't look like the kiss of a man who has supposedly been waiting all these years to express his feelings which leads me to think that even Simon Baker couldn't save a sappy Hollywood ending such as that. Hell, even the kisses he gave Erica Flynn and Lorelei were sexier.
Kisses aside, this whole Jane realizing his feelings was just so thrown together and pushed on fans at the last minute that its sad. Poor Pike was used as a plot device to throw away at the end. Its clear that this was done to save the show. Audiences respond when people are in love and TM used that to get their show noticed. Its a shame that a smart, intelligent show was reduced to dumbing down their audience with sappy, clichéd plot devices in a effort to save the show. Really? Jane running after a plane?? If that's the case, the show should have ended when Jane killed Red John and spared us the pain.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I agree 1000%! I shudder at what next season will bring. To see this very intelligent show devolve into clichéd sappiness is sad. I agree that if Bruno knew for sure there would be another season the ending would have been very different. Sorry to say it's probably not a dream.

    ReplyDelete
  77. All I have to say is, FINALLY!!! I usually hate it when showrunners wait so long to put two characters together, but in this case it was absolutely worth the wait. The whole "confession at the airport" thing was a tad cheesy (though they did temper that with a good dose of reality with TSA reacting appropriately), but honestly I couldn't bring myself to care. Simon and Robin were absolutely brilliant throughout, but especially at the end. Like I said, totally worth the wait. :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. Yes, but they didn't think they were going to get renewed, so they made it like a season finale

    ReplyDelete
  79. Ereth Reetnith25 May 2014 at 22:42

that was insulting to the character of Lisbon. She is not the sort of person to build a whole relationship and accept marriage to someone just cuz someone else is not making a move. If she did have such feelings for Jane, she would have made a move herself or refrain from putting someone else in a position to hurt them that much. She's always been a considerate, kind person. Unlike dear Jane. The way the whole thing played, well, the way i read it, Jane has a good thing going, he's afraid of change, and he's making a move to manipulate Lisbon and keep the status quo *shudder* i know the show is actually playing if for real and as romantic, but i don't see it. It kinda gave me the creeps.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Please? We had an enormous build-up all over the season, what have you watched???

    ReplyDelete
  81. A cliché airport ending? Really? No problem in getting them together but could they not have found a less stereotypical romcom way of doing it?
