    Hannibal (although I think it gained some momentum) and Awake.
    Even though I never have watched Community, I feel it should be mentioned to, because I think it's fans have been put through the ringer too many times.

    Definitely Parenthood. NBC has always waited until the last minute in May to renew it and for the most part has always given it a half-season order.


    Also, Parks & Recreation. I didn't really like the pilot but after seeing lots of positive comments online, I decided to give it a try again when I could this past season. It doesn't get enough love from NBC.

    At least NBC gave Parenthood a full season for Season 5 plus they renewed it in April.

    Parenthood. Doesn't seem to get the attention from the network some of their other shows do and I think it's a decent show overall.

    Awake, always and forever Awake. But Life also. Actually, I don't even know how NBC functions because a lot of the shows I like on NBC are treated like red-headed step children to the point I just wait for the DVD and hope for a season renewal.

    Easily Hannibal hands down! From the story and characters to the suspense and gore, this is the "Best New Series" of the year (2013) for me. This series should have a much bigger viewership than it does IMHO! 4 A SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE, I am Nobody!!!

    I automatically voted for Hannibal, since it deserves so much more -- more exposure, more critical acclaim, and more viewership.


    But, Community is the king of underrated television, from its brilliant writing to hilarious performances.


    The cancellation of Awake will always be one of NBC's biggest mistakes, especially since it removed a brilliantly written, acted, and produced show, yet kept a piece of trash like Whitney on for another season. If only all three were cable shows..

    I was surprised by Grimm, and I think so was the network. And that is why I don't consider it as underrated. It has enough buzz and I think NBC treats as the utility player i is and gives it the credit for it.

    Shame Awake was cut so short. It was fascinating to me. I couldn't help but try to figure out what was real and/or what would happen next. Just when you came up with a theory it was shredded to pieces. This world seems more real...nope, it's not, it's another world, it's a world in a world...lol.


    The only issue with it is the creator said he wasn't planning on ever really getting to the truth. I love mystery and all that but I like resolutions. At least for me, even if the character doesn't know the truth, I want to.

    Hannibal atm, but omg i loved the Surface that was a mystery show kinda like lost about some monster or monsters. just when it got good it was cliff hanger canceled.

    Realism? I love the show, but I wouldn't say it was realistic. It was about a guy downloading the government's secrets through encoded images. It had the CIA and NSA working on domestic soil (which is illegal and was never stated as such). Almost every bad guy could break into Castle, Sarah was recruited into the CIA without any prior military involvement at 18. Every female spy was hotter than hell. Morgan even became a spy. As great as it was (and it was great), it was not realistic, but that was part of its charm.

    Your point on CIA, NSA working together on US soil has some merit until you realize this was a Special Task force which allowed them to do so by the President. So normally yes they are not supposed to but in reality these things happen. Another of the realism I was talking about.

    Yes The CIA will recruit people directly from College and Also will give promising candidates that College education so they can work with them. I know several officers overseas that did it that way.

    Now every bad guy breaking into Castle was a bit ludicrous but installation are not fool proof and many were compromised in oversea locations. Benghazi is a good example of that.

    Well, I guess most people see it as Get Smart (which is not fair since Chuck is nothing like that show at all) in comparison to shows like 24 or Homeland.

    Yes it was billed that way as if it was a comedy farce. But in actuality it was very truthful on all the topics. People do not realize that lots of the situations that our Clandestine services deal are not high drama but somewhat absurd,

    Community never grabbed me, sadly, but then I'm not a huge sitcom person.


    Hannibal is great but very popular (should be their top show imo) and I LOVED Kings (no one else liked it??) - they both have moments of cheesy dialogue but I think the plot ideas and execution is otherwise great. Kings' sometimes clunky dialogue actually worked for me because the whole show felt a little theatrical to me in the first place. And Ian McShane can deliver any line with aplomb. :) I really wish they gave that show another season. :C


    I was shocked and elated to see that Hannibal got the green light - I think because of the huge internet following? Thanks, Tumblr!


    Sadly, Awake lost me with an ultra cheesy montage and camera direction at one point, to the point where I couldn't overcome the second-hand embarrassment that I normally can whenever Will Graham says something like, "I feel like a shadow, suspended on dust."


    I haven't seen Surface or Life, but those sound interesting, so I might give em a whirl. Especially if Damian Lewis is in one of them.
