Hi folks,

The moment has arrived. The SpoilerTV Favourite TV Series Competition 2013 has officially begun.

For anyone new, the rules are very simple...

1) Two shows will go into battle in a poll, where after exactly 24 hours, the leading show will win the battle and will progress into the next round.
2) Vote for you favourite, spread the word with your friends & fans.
3) Comment on what you voted for on in the comments below.
4) Have fun. This is a friendly & competitive competition.

We begin with one of the most talked about TV shows of recent times, HBO's epic drama Game of Thrones. Just completed its third season, controversy, hype and shock filled the internet after the incredibly dramatic episode "The Rains of Castermere" aired. Battling for the throne is CBS' ridiculously popular How I Met Your Mother, which also surprised fans in its recent finale by giving the viewers a first glimpse at the mother herself. About to enter its final season, HIMYM is still a tentpole comedy for many.

Also today we have one of the USA networks biggest shows Suits, which has gone from strength to strength and is just about to commence on its third season. Suits is challenging a show, which similarly to HIMYM is in its final season. The first two episodes have been critically acclaimed, and hype for the show is high with the end is sight. It will make for an intriguing battle.

GoT, I don't watch either Suits nor Dexter.
While I love HIMYM, the later seasons are not so great, whereas GoT has only got better

  5. Woo hoo! It begins. Today has no exciting choices for me because I don't watch any of the shows on a regular basis. However I do like the occasional HIMYM episode while the premiere of Game of Thrones left me cold. Incest is never an okay plot point for me. I'm voting HIMYM and Suits although at least one and probably both will lose.

    HIMYM & Suits

    ReplyDelete
  7. HIMYM & Dexter for me this round. I've still not caught up with GoT yet.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Seen all four of these, and definitely Game of Thrones and Dexter for me.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Game of Thrones and Dexter

    ReplyDelete
  10. I have to vote for How I Met Your Mother, since it's my favorite show on air at the moment, but I know it's going to get creamed against Game of Thrones.

    ReplyDelete
  11. HIMYM has more soul than any of this shows.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Does everyone know who won last year ? I can't remember.

    For me, HIMYM and Suits.

While HIMYM has been enjoyable, mostly in it's earlier seasons, GoT wins this by a mile... Suits vs Dexter is a little harder for me but i still like Dexter a little more than i like Suits.

    ReplyDelete
  14. HIMYM & Dexter.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Why are you making me take hard choices from the start?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I know eventually all these shows will go against each other but these pairs and the pairs in the list seem weird.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Voted for HIMYM and Suits. :) And I'm not sure if this was a mistake or if I'm really out the loop, can someone confirm is Suits really on it's last season or was that supposed to read Dexter?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yeah, I watch and love both Dexter and Suits so it was also hard for me to choose but Dexter has always been close to my heart since the beginning.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Dexter is on it's last season while Suits is beginning it's third season next week.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It says "Suits is challenging a show, which similarly to HIMYM is in its final season".

  21. HIMYM and Dexter

I think some battles are a little unfair e.g. Breaking Bad vs 90210 or Castle vs Smash

    ReplyDelete
  23. Game of Thrones!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ohh! Thank you!! :) Clearly it's been a long day for me :/

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm noticing that SVU is not part of this competition. Part of me wants to be insulted that one would omit this amazing series from this list. But, when it comes down to it, SVU beats out all of the series in this competition. Several of the series in this list are great, but SVU rules, enough said.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Both of those are a no brainer for me.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Why no Nikita in the competition? :/

    ReplyDelete
  28. The Top 64 shows were selected from the ones people sent in as their favorites and obviously SVU didn't make.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Because it didn't get enough votes.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Fabian Alonso Ramz8 July 2013 at 23:45

    That's why I say, there's no competition

    ReplyDelete
  31. HIMYM

Don't watch Suits or Dexter, but I randomly voted for Suits

    ReplyDelete
  32. Just HIMYM for me. Despite Game of Thrones having many of the elements that I would normally love in a show, it also has too many of those elements that I don't enjoy in a show for me to have ever gotten far into it (plus my read of the first book really prejudiced me against the series in any of its forms, unfortunately). Even when HIMYM turns out a disappointing episode, it tends to do something really creative, something strong with the continuity, something funny, or something in the character development department to make up for whichever other elements it is at that time lacking in.

As for the other two, I like Dexter, but I've never fallen in love with it. And since it's not one of my favorite shows, I hesitate to give it a vote when I haven't seen an episode of Suits.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh, there was a poll to vote for the competitors already... I must've missed it. Thanks for replying!

    ReplyDelete
  34. You had to send your favorite shows.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Very easy today. While I love HIMYM, Game of Thrones is one of the best shows on TV and ever and easily crushes it. Dexter also gets an easy win for me as I don't watch Suits and Dexter has been phenomenal last year and so far this year.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Game of Thrones and Dexter

    ReplyDelete
  37. Game of Thrones and Dexter!

    ReplyDelete
  38. TheFALLOfTheEleventh9 July 2013 at 00:17

    HIMYM and Dexter!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think these are probably the worst ones for me for the entire first round.

The first one is especially puzzling because, as I've said in an earlier comment, it is like comparing food to drink. Comparing dramas with comedies just makes very little sense to me, I enjoy them both for very different reasons. The age of the shows is also vastly different. Anyway, I went with Game of Thrones because 1) I generally tend to prefer drama to comedy in 90% of the cases and 2) I am still biased considering how good the third season was and the Red Wedding episode - too recent. I do love me some How I Met Your Mother though

The second one is also terrible. Dexter is one of the first shows I fell in love with when I got into this world of tv series. I love it, it is quality tv at its best IMO. Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have been rocking my TV world for 8 years now and I adore seeing the character growth and complexity, the twists, the relationship dynamics. On the other hand, Suits, particularly during season 2, has been one of the most wonderful surprises. It was my favorite show last summer and unlike for instance White Collar with which I always fall behind during winter episodes, I was always eager to see it during its winter run as well. I love how real and complex the characters are, how flawed everyone is and how tricky the game they are always playing is. I ultimately went with Dexter, if not for everything else, for its age, as 8 great seasons for the most part (I wasn't a fan of season 6 or season 3 that much) top 2 great seasons (especially because season 2 was far far better than season 1 of suits imo). Besides, there is the nostalgia fact that Dexter is ending.

    Tough ones!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ah, bummer... Too late now.

    ReplyDelete
  41. If weaker shows were always facing weaker shows in earlier rounds, people would complain of the opposite: that weaker shows would move on while stronger shows would not in earlier rounds. There is no perfect way to do it IMO

    ReplyDelete
  42. This a lot, thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  43. In my case of Dexter vs Suits, age ended up being the deciding factor. And the nostalgia factor also helped.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Just a quick comment about GoT: the premiere is far from being the best episode of the show. For starters, the show is set in a world of multiple characters, set relationships, families, lands and supernatural beings to which it takes time to get acquainted. I never read the books, and I am assuming you didn't either, so it takes a bit of time to get used to the world of the show. Once you do, you are able to truly start to experience the show and how rich and complex the characters are and how boundless the show is. As for the incest, while it is there, it is nowhere near as big of a plot point as the pilot makes it seem like. You can go for more than 6 episodes without even remembering it. Maybe if you have time it is worth another try ;) Just my two cents!

  45. Panos Nestoras9 July 2013 at 00:32

That's how i decided as well...

    ReplyDelete
  46. Suits and GOT. You know it makes sense!

    ReplyDelete
  47. HIMYM don't watch the others but I do like Dexter.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I also have a major problem with how much nudity was in it. That's one reason why I generally do not like HBO shows. I am more likely to read the books than watch anymore of the show. However I will wait until all of them are out given that I hate being in the middle of a series and then having to wait for years for the next one to come out.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I had to read it twice too since the name Dexter never appeared. It was understandable to be confused.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Premium cable for the win today. I like Suits but Dexter is a once in a lifetime show. Picking GOT over HIMYM was an easy call because that formerly great sitcom should have planned to wrap things up by season six.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Game of Thrones i expected

    Suits i expected that also..

    ReplyDelete
  52. Okay, then. But, the fact that enough people didn't think SVU was their favorite is just sad to me.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I also feel sad about Orphan Black but I don't think of it as hard because I will always vote for Lost regardless of what show is up against, as much as I love Orphan Black. The ones from today are actually much harder for me.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Fair enough, I understand your problems with the show, they are both valid reasons ;)

    ReplyDelete

    Game of Thrones and Dexter

    ReplyDelete
  56. GoT and Suits :)

    ReplyDelete
  57. GoT and Suits. I have really gotten hooked on Suits, great series.

    ReplyDelete
  58. lostrocks4ever9 July 2013 at 02:40

    So excited for this!!
First one I went with game of thrones.
I used to love how I met your mother but I haven't watched it for like 3 years now.
And game of thrones is amazing.
Second poll was harder. I liked both but kinda just stopped watching them. ) but when I did watch them I loved dexter so I voted dexter. Suits is great too though

    ReplyDelete
  59. don't watch either show in the first poll so i couldn't vote, but i watch both shows in the second and ultimately decided on Suits. the acting and is superb in both shows, but i care more about Mike and Harvey than Dexter and Deb. Also all of the secondary characters(Donna, Louis, Jessica...)are way more interesting, where as in Dexter i really only care about Dexter and Deb. the rest are kind of just there.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Thrones vs. Dexter

    ReplyDelete
  61. No real choices here for me today.
Never been a great fan of fantasy and although I used to enjoy period drama, it has worn off now.

Sit-coms aren't my thing either, but I have seen a couple of eps of HIMYM, so I'll give it there.

Have seen a couple of eps of Dexter too, I even read the first book, but serial killers will never be my look-up-to heroes, so I'll give it to Suits.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Now THAT will be a hard call for me

    ReplyDelete
  63. Game of Thrones and Neither (never watch Suits and got bored with Dexter 2 seasons ago)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Game of Thrones and Suits

    ReplyDelete
  65. Brutal! No "Wild Card" for HIMYM? I mean really, this could be the finale Vote!

    ReplyDelete
  66. The only thing I watch is Game of Thrones.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Easy choices for me today; Game of Thrones and Dexter. I ahve never seen suits and don't like HIMYM. Hope all the polls are this easy... but I doubt it!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Regarding Dexter, season 6 is, in my opinion and of the both critics and fandom, the worst season of the show. Season 7, however, is widely regarded as being one of its best seasons and, so far, Season 8 seems to be on par with it.I would advise you to give it another go to season 7 ;)

    ReplyDelete
  69. As surprising as it is, I hadn't even thought about it! Jeez, that will be even more awful than the ones we have right now!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Although I voted for Dexter, you certainly have a MAJOR point concerning secondary characters on both shows, well said.

    ReplyDelete
  71. first poll is tough! in the end i chose HIMYM just because i know GoT will pass this :) and Suits in the second! I never kept watching Dexter... maybe I should lol

    ReplyDelete
  72. I like both HIMYM and GoT, but HIMYM is currently my favorite show so I'm gonna vote for it.

    ReplyDelete
  73. GoT and Suits, HIMYM lost its spark and I consider Suits to be one of the best shows out there right now

    ReplyDelete
  74. Me too. I like Game of Thrones more than HIMYM but I already know how Game of Thrones will play out whereas for HIMYM I can't exactly know how it will end.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I voted too, but I can't see the draw, I mean it doesn't appear on the computer screen. Anyone else has the same problem or do you know how I can fix it? Everything else seems fine.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Hi

What browser and version are you using? eg Chrome, Firefox 17, 18 or 19, IE 8, 9, or 10 Safari 4, 5 or , Opera 10, 11 or 12. Normally help about will tell you the version

    ReplyDelete
  77. Lol, HIMYM vs GoT? I love HIMYM, but I also know that GoT has bigger fanbase and HIMYM doesn't have a slightest chance. Such a shame, my favorite show gets knocked out in first round :(

    ReplyDelete
  78. Suits and Game of Thrones

    ReplyDelete
  79. How I Met Your Mother & Dexter..

Season 7 of Dexter was outstanding.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Game of Thrones and Dexter for me today.

I like both Suits and HIMYM, but the choice was easy for me. HIMYM is a solid sitcom, butnothing groundbreaking or iconic and the same goes for Suits. A solid legal drama with a unique viewpoint, but nothing that new or groundbreaking.

Both Game of Thrones and Dexter are groundbreaking series!
GOT is the most epic in scale series ever on TV. Period. Dexter took us into the mind of a killer like never before. Both have had a few stumbles at times, but their level of quality is far above most network TV series.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I use Firefox 22.0 and I have Windows 8.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Can you try

Clearing your cookies and cache in Firefox.

if that does not work, can you try another Browser like Chrome.

Ive tested it on Chrome, Firefox, IE and Opera and the draw shows for me. Normally it's a problem with a stale cookie or some corrupted cache code.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I can't decide. I love both HIMYM and GoT.

It used to be impossible for me to chose in this competition in the final rounds, but now it has already begun.

    ReplyDelete
  84. It worked! Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Argh no! GoT vs HIMYM?! The best drama vs the best comedy?! This should be the final round argh! Sucks!

By the way, little future warning, if any of you decide to vote TBBT over Buffy I'll personally whoop your ass into the Hellmouth. ;D

    ReplyDelete
  86. I have to agree about HIMYM and Got. At first I couldn't chose between them, because I love them both, but quality wise, GoT is much more of a tv show than HIMYM. My vote went to GoT.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Easy for me, GoT and Suits.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Amen, well said.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I think if GoT was going up against HIMYM in the first years of the show then it'd be a tougher choice, but the past couple season have episodes that either are good or meh. Where GoT just keeps getting better and better.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I knew HIMYM would lose. Hurts that it couldn't get past the first round.

    ReplyDelete
  91. You speak the truth. *bows*

    ReplyDelete
  92. I did start season 7. But when his sister started the move in with me and I'll make you stop, thing...I lost the interested to fire up the DVR.

    ReplyDelete
  93. It is known. (I bow to you if you know the quote)

    ReplyDelete
  94. Really bad luck for HIMYM, but there's nothing it could do.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Frak! I missed the first few days. Am Happy though that Game of Thrones and Dexter managed to pull through!
