Two easy winners for me. Supernatural & Breaking Bad
ReplyDeleteEasy choices this time, Supernatural and Breaking Bad. :)
ReplyDeleteSupernatural!!! Lets reclaim our title!!!
ReplyDeleteVery easy choices today, Supernatural and of course Breaking Bad!
ReplyDeleteJust Supernatural for me today ;)
ReplyDeleteEasy choices, Supernatural and Breaking Bad. Pretty Little Liars and 90210 are nowhere near the level of quality that their opponents posses.
ReplyDeleteThe tougher choice will be next round; Supernatural or Breaking Bad?
Supernatural and Breaking Bad ;)
ReplyDelete1st Poll: SPN as I don't watch PLL but even if I did I'd probably still vote for SPN.
ReplyDelete2nd Poll: Breaking Bad obviously. I watched 90210 'til the end even though somewhere along the line it turned into a hot mess.
Breaking bad for the 2nd one, easy choice. Nothing for the first, even if I dislike Supernatural, i don't watch pretty little liars and make an anti-supernatural vote is not in the competition spirit
ReplyDeleteWho voted for 90210? Seriously?
ReplyDeleteThat was not fair for PLL having Supernatural as its rival :(
ReplyDeleteBreaking Bad of course! I don't watch SPN or PLL so no vote there..
ReplyDeleteI love both PLL & SPN but if I had to choose which one to cancel it would be PLL. And Breaking Bad of course. I used to watch 90210 until mid-season 5. Then it got unbelievable and totally stupid.
ReplyDeleteYep, Breaking Bad is the only show I watch in todays polls, so as long as it advances the rest hast hassle with themselves.
ReplyDeleteFinally voting on a series I really care about..SUPERNATURAL. No vote on the second poll.
ReplyDeleteMy sentiments exactly! Besides we know SPN is going to take the win against PPL.
ReplyDeleteEasy vote for me today. Supernatural and Breaking Bad!
ReplyDeleteSPN & Breaking Bad. Easy calls.
ReplyDeleteBreaking Bad will be the easy vote for me next round. I started watching BB 6 months ago, and 2 weeks later I had watched every episode because I just could stop watching. I started watching SPN 4 months ago, and I am now nearly done with season 5. SPN is a good show, but I just can't watch more than 2 or 3 episodes in a day, and it isn't hard for me to go a few days or a week without watching an episode.
ReplyDeleteSomething similar, but completely different I have noticed in the 2 shows. On both shows they bicker a lot.
On SPN it is the same exact argument over and over: "I love you man, but you do everything you are told to do, and you aren't the boss of me!", "Yeah? Well, you are an addict that abandons your family every chance you get, but I love you man!" This usually leads to them parting ways and one or both of them getting killed, yet again. Every episode, they get 100 more scars on their soul, each individual scar has little or no impact on them. They angst about it a lot, but their characters really haven't changed all that much since season 1.
On BB when they bicker, bad things happen, real bad things. Often people die, and it is usually their fault. Each time, they get a new scar on their soul, a scar that still haunts them seasons later.
I like SPN, but I absolutely love BB.
Even though I've never seen Pretty Little Liars I decided to vote for that in this poll ass I think Supernatural has gone downhill in quality the past 3 seasons and I didn't feel right voting for what I thought was the 48th best show of the year this year. I voted for Breaking Bad even though I've only seen the first season at this point and I think only the first of the 5 seasons of 90210 were any good.
ReplyDeletePretty Little Liars and 90210 have no chance today.
ReplyDeleteVery easy today. While I may not have enjoyed Supernatural the majority of the time post-Season 5, it was a very solid show and I've never seen Pretty Little Liars so it gets my vote.
ReplyDeleteAnd Breaking Bad is one of the best shows on TV, and ever, with 2 of the most phenomenal actors (Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul) that it easily wins.
Supernatural!!! duh!!!
ReplyDeleteI've only seen season 1 of Supernatural and bits and pieces of PLL, but it has to be Supernatural for me today.
ReplyDeleteAs for the second one...easiest choice ever! Breaking Bad all the way!
I agree with you, Breaking Bad will get my vote next round aswell. I just cant see it beating Supernatural though, its just got too big of a fanbase on here D:
ReplyDeleteBaff, when are you going to start writing for SPN? seems you got it down pat! :)
ReplyDelete2 or 3 years ago, I would have said SPN by a landslide. SPN no longer wins every competition here and BB is rising in popularity. Also by the time we get to this showdown, the BB final episodes will be closer to starting (with more hype and previews) which should help it a bit more. Though I expect SPN will probably win, I think it will be a close battle and BB has a good shot. I expect this to be similar to TBBT vs. Buffy.
ReplyDeleteNo matter which show wins, I will be sad to see the other show get knocked out in round 2.
Looking at the table, I'd say there's a good chance that the winner of Supernatural v Breaking Bad will have to face LOST in the third round anyway.
ReplyDeleteReckon LOST would knock out either show?
Easy win! Supernatural all the way!
ReplyDeleteSupernatural all the way!
ReplyDeleteSupernatural gets my vote for this section of the bracket since there is only one show out of the 16 I would vote for against it and that show isn't going to make it past round 1. I tried to watch Pretty Little Liars but I couldn't make it past the teacher and student sleeping together, which was in the pilot. Being a teacher, it's on my "don't think so" list along with incest and main characters I can't root for. Having read the books, I knew this relationship was going to last so I dropped the show.
ReplyDeleteIf I can think of 90210 as the original series and not the one that ended this year, I can give it my nostalgia vote. I was in high school when the original debuted and that was right up my alley then. I remember being fascinated with it the first 2 years and then dropping it as I went to college. My guess is that it would not hold up for me if I rewatched it 20 years later though.
Actually, looking at the calendar, the showdown should take place within days of the return of BB. The interest in BB will be at its high point, while SPN will be months away from its season finale and next season opener.
ReplyDeleteIf BB wins, it will have the same advantage against Lost, just 2 weeks later with people having seen a couple new episodes. Lost has waned a bit in popularity here too over the last couple years. It continues to slowly fade in people's memories and the last season left a bad taste in the mouth for many. Again, I think Lost has the advantage, but BB has a good shot due to the timing.
Though whichever show wins that round will likely get eaten alive by The Walking Dead. Too bad BB couldn't have been in section 3, Fringe (another show with fading popularity) is about the only show there that would have a chance against it.
Funny you should say that, I predicted The Mentalist to knock The Walking Dead out. TWD hasn't really done too well in this competition in the past couple of years, but its a quality show, so I'm hoping it can go quite far this year.
ReplyDeleteWho's your prediction for the overall winner of the competition?
If it were in section 3, it would not be Fringe that would take out BB. It would be Castle, which is likely to smash everything in that section. If I remember right, Castle is by far the most popular show on this site.
ReplyDeleteHard to say. I expect the winner of Section 4 will take the whole thing. Probably Arrow, but Person of Interest and TVD have a good chance too. Veronica Mars has a slim chance due to all of the hype over the upcoming movie.
ReplyDeleteI'd guess Game of Thrones for section 1, Walking Dead for section 2, and Castle for section 3 (thanks Dahne, I didn't even see it there).
It is also possible that the winner of BB vs. SPN will win the whole thing due to momentum. Tough early battles can mobilize the votes for the later battles. There are other shows that will be developing early momentum though too. That could be Castle's downfall, due to having very easy fights for the first 4 rounds, its fanbase might not be ready for the tough battles in the final week..
I'm going to guess that Once Upon a Time squeaks by Grey's Anatomy and Game of Thrones to take section 1 simply because I think more people have seen OUaT than GoT. For section 2, I suspect it will come down to Supernatural vs. Walking Dead, where I think Supernatural will squeak by but it will be closer than in section 1. Of all the shows I am unsure about this year, Supernatural is at the top of the list. I wouldn't count it out of contention for the finals but I doubt it wins the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteIn section 3 it will be Castle and I don't think any show in that section can touch it. The closest will probably be Beauty and the Beast, whose fans have been good at getting the word out for polls, and Doctor Who, which tends to get both current and nostalgic votes. Doctor Who however has a tough fight agaisnt Fringe so it may not even get that far. Still neither show is likely to beat Castle in the sectionals.
I actually think that in overall chances to win the whole thing, section 4 is the weakest even though it has more shows I like in it. I think it will be Arrow vs. Person of Interest to get to the final four but neither of them will make it past that point. Castle will decimate them both. Actually I think the winner of section 4 would lose to the winner of any other section, mostly because Arrow is new and has mixed reviews on STV while Person of Interest tends to struggle in this contest. In fact PoI could very well be beaten out by X-Files if it comes down to that.
Supernatural
ReplyDelete2 very easy votes for me today: SPN and BB
ReplyDeleteI reckon the winner of Section 4 could be NCIS or The X-Files. Its difficult to judge how big of a fanbase Arrow has due to it not having competed in this competition before. NCIS got to the semi finals a couple years back didn't it?
ReplyDeleteI love Pretty Little Liars but unfortunately it's up against Supernatural and has no chance lol. 90210 I used to watch but against Breaking Bad it will be slaughtered. Voted Supernatural!
ReplyDeleteGame of thrones has a great chance of beating once. GOT has grown in viewers and quality while lots of people weren't happy with once season 2. Last year GOT was #4 and once was #2.
ReplyDeleteWalking Dead has been #39 the last 2 years so I doubt it will be top 2 in section 2. Supernatural is has won twice and was #5 last year.
Section 4 doesn't really have any great scoring veteran shows other than NCIS, so its hard to say.
I don't know if NCIS can take the whole thing since I'm not sure it can beat X-Files. That poll is definitely on my "ones to watch" list because whichever wins that one will be in the Sweet Sixteen and will go against Person of Interest then. NCIS wavers so much in this contest that it is hard to predict how much success it will have. I'm not sure how the news that Ziva is leaving will effect its chances either.
ReplyDeleteAs for Arrow, it has a tougher draw than most so it will be interesting. I agree that it is an unknown quantity not just because it is new but also because as many fans as it has on this site, it also seems to have an equal amount of detractors. Its first round against Charmed and then later against TVD should tell a lot. I get the feeling that it will have a harder time against Charmed than many people think simply because Charmed has a big nostalgic fan club here.
Yay Breaking Bad is winning, but in the other poll my show (Pretty Little Liars) is currently losing.
ReplyDeletesupernatural and breaking bad.
ReplyDeleteI'm not counting Game of Thrones out by any means. My guess is that it is the show that got the most nominations since it is in the #1 spot in the brackets. I also don't follow OUaT so if most people think it had a crummy season, it does lose the slight edge I gave it. I think regardless it will be an extremely tight contest and it wouldn't surprise me if the winner moves on by less than 25 votes. I would say that Once Upon a Time won in squeakers last year if I remember right so that fan base has the ability to get the word out when they really need it.
ReplyDeleteWalking Dead is always a mystery to me. I never know if it just had bad placement in the contest and that's why it has done so poorly or if the love it gets on this site is made up of fewer people. I always hear how awesome it is here but it never seems to live up to it in this contest. Now I wish I hadn't thrown away my contest sheets from previous years. It would be interesting to see if it went against shows that ended up doing really well in its early rounds.
The winner of Sec.4 will go up against the winner of Sec.2, and S1 vs. S3. So by your prediction that would have SPN vs. (Arrow or PoI) & OUaT vs. Castle.
ReplyDeleteI think S4 is going to be a bloodbath, and whoever survives it will be strong.
Ah that's right. Adam changed the layout of the contest last year. Originally we went by the bracket system order the NCAA tournament uses and the order we use in all other rounds. In that case, I still think it will be a Castle win overall, but it will certainly make its semifinal round interesting. In fact I think this will be more like the first tournament then where the semifinals are far more interesting than the finale.
ReplyDeleteSection 4 could very well be a bloodbath but for me it's because none of them are as strong as the other sections. I would love to be wrong though because the contest would become that much more interesting if I am.
PLL and no emre for me i dont watch any of the shows in the second round
ReplyDeleteSection 2 looks like the strongest section; Supernatural, Breaking Bad, Lost, The Walking Dead and Firefly are all worthy winners of the competition.
ReplyDeleteOn a slightly off-topic note, do you know if there will be any more competitions this year? Such as a character competition? Thought I may aswell ask now, its pretty obvious who's won in todays poll.
Walking Dead was against NCIS last year. If you goggle spoilertv Favourite tv show 2012 its gets you to the finals last year than click 2012 TV Series Competition, all the websites are still up to see who went against who
ReplyDeleteHmm, there goes that theory then. Thanks for the info. I am working on an Under the Dome review so I didn't have time to look it up.
ReplyDeleteI'd say section 1 is pretty powerful as well with Game of Thrones, Friends, OUaT, Grey's, and Buffy. Section three has two of the most interesting match ups to me with Teen Wolf vs. Hannibal and Doctor Who vs. Fringe.
ReplyDeleteWe did not have a character cup last year, but I would say it is up to Andy. I would certainly volunteer to run it though, since I am used to both the nomination and poll process. I meant to ask about it at the beginning of the summer. These contests are always a lot of fun and I'd love to see that fun continue.
Yeah, I agree with you on Section 1 - Section 4 looks like the weakest of the lot, there's very few, if any, potential winners.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the character cup in 2010 and 2011 aswell, these types of competitions always start a debate, and its pretty cool to watch how the tournament progresses. I'm sure there'd be a lot of fantastic nominations for the character cup aswell, there's been some truly outstanding characters over the past few years.
Easy ones for me today: Supernatural and Breaking Bad. Nuff said.
ReplyDeleteEasy breezy vote day.... SPN and BB...
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I love these contests too because there is always great discussion and I usually find at least one new show to try out. Sometimes I get stuck in a rut only conversing with the same people about the same shows. Don't get me wrong - that's great to know people so well you can guess how they will feel about an episode before you read their comments and really get in-depth about shows with them. However sometimes it's fun to widen the conversation more and talk with people you normally don't about new topics. These contests do that for me. They also tend to get people who have never heard of SpoilerTV into the community. I first came to Spoiler during the first Best Show contest and I haven't left since.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural and I don't watch those other shows. I really hope SPN gets far :)
ReplyDeleteBreaking bad!
ReplyDeleteOut of curiosity, which show would you have voted for over SPN?
ReplyDeleteLeverage. While I was not fond of Supernatural this season, Leverage was awesome. I'm sorry it got canceled and Parker, Eliot, and Hardison are not gracing my TV screen this summer. I miss Leverage a lot.
ReplyDeleteThe student/teacher relationship is now over though it has been going for a long time (turns out he had a kid in high school that his mother knew about!). They didn't sleep together till much later but I get what you mean, it does cross a line and give young viewers the wrong idea.
ReplyDeleteCastle will be hard to beat with all the viewers seemingly on here. lol
ReplyDeletePOI has more viewers but not a lot of people on here watch it I'd guess from the comments on articles.
It's surprisingly so many people of a crime show come on here (Castle), usually the sci-fi/supernatural themed shows seem to have more people interested in spoilers for some reason.
Just basing that off what I've observed.
Hmm, I thought they had sex in a bar bathroom in the pilot.
ReplyDeleteCastle has a large shipper population, which I think is part of its popularity here.
ReplyDeleteEasy choices; Breaking Bad and Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteI am with you here all the way! Although SPN is one of my top favorites, I would vote for Leverage over any of the shows.
ReplyDeleteBreaking Bad
ReplyDeleteSupernatural on the first from the little I have seen of it, I liked it. No vote for me on the second. Never watched 90210; watched the first season of Breaking Bad but disliked it so I won't vote.
ReplyDeleteIf its between SPN, BB or Castle i'll bet on Castle, even with BB coming back soon.
ReplyDeleteI told you I would let you know what I thought of Gilmore Girls, just finished the pilot and loved it. I think Jared is cute as a bug. lol
ReplyDeleteSUPERNATURAL
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I figured you would like it. The best parts of season 1 for me is the rapid mother-daughter dialogue and the Dean/Rory interaction. Jared was one reason why I watched this show as long as I did.
ReplyDeleteIt was such a fun show but never got the recognition it deserved. The capers were awesome but it was the character interactions that made it special.
ReplyDeleteKind of weird though hearing Jared called Dean.
ReplyDeleteHa! When I first started online in the #Supernatural fandom, people actually called them CuteDean (Jared) and HotDean (Jensen) to distinguish. Cute!Dean was Jared's nickname on Gilmore Girls.
ReplyDeleteDon't want to upset Jared girls, but he was much better looking back then and the early years of SPN, but to me Jensen is the opposite, not so hot young, but WOW now. Kind of like Sean Connery. lol Better with age.
ReplyDeleteI love how they are different enough to appeal to all kinds of people, but mostly I like how genuine they always appear and how they really do appreciate their fans. The fact that they both get raves from everyone who works with them makes them more attractive for me.
ReplyDeleteI agree, love both my guys, they are members of my family. Well at least they seem that way to me. lol
ReplyDeleteNo it was 40+ episodes in and at that point he was no longer her teacher. Does not make it right either way but they waited (not sure if she was 18 or not though).
ReplyDeleteHey, Adam, is there a way to hook myself in for notification of the new polls? I spent the last couple of days looking for day 4 and 5 and never spotted them. Finally saw this page and realized the poll is closed.
ReplyDeleteJust click on the competition label then bookmark it. Then just visit that bookmark each day. Or use the rss feed of the label in your feed reader
