Scene Of The Week - March 24, 2013 *POLL FIXED*

25 Mar 2013

Week 16! Thanks everyone for their contribution!
At the beginning, I’d like to remind all the readers that the scenes included in this article and in the poll are the ones chosen by me and the other members of SpoilerTV Staff. If the scene you like is not included, I encourage you to mention it in the comments and vote Other in the poll. We welcome relevant, respectful comments!
My choices this week are (in the alphabetical order):

1. Show: ONCE UPON A TIME
Episode: “Welcome to Storybrooke”
Date: March 17, 2013
Actors: Benjamin Stockham, John Pyper-Ferguson, Lana Parrilla, Jamie Dornan
The Scene: Regina and Graham's final confrontation with Kirk and Owen

First, I have to admit, up until last episode I wasn’t interested in Greg’s character, at all. But right now, I’m actually rooting for him a bit, after learning his story with Regina and Storybrooke. This episode was also my brutal reminder why I’m not and never have been a fan of Regina, as much as I love Lana Parrilla’s performance every single week. Kudos to this brilliant actress!
I was incredibly moved by the story of a little boy, who after losing his mother, was camping with his dad in the woods and came across the mysterious town. The Evil Queen, seeing him as the only real person there who sees her as more than just evil, wanted to keep Owen with her in Storybrooke. Unfortunately, focused on her needs, she used Graham (which made me sick and broke my heart even more) to separate father and son. In this scene I’ve chosen, Regina’s asking this little boy to stay with her (and the Sheriff is arresting his dad) eventually letting him go (just him), after noticing his sadness and tears. What makes it all even worse is the bit at the end, when poor Owen comes back for his dad with help but nobody can see the town and the boy breaks down, promising his father he will never stop looking for him, with Regina standing there on the other side of the Storybrooke’s border.

NOTE: The scene was also picked by Darth Locke as Scene Of The Week!

“I thought this scene was horrifically heartbreaking on so many levels. Not everyone is found of the Greg story line, but I thought this Owen is Greg reveal made him more intriguing and adds more parallels to a lot of the other characters and their current and past situations. This specific scene just adds depths to Regina (and Emma and August) and the current story about to be unleashed in Storybrooke.”

2. Show: PSYCH
Episode: “No Country for Two Old Men”
Date: March 20, 2013
Actors: James Roday, Dule Hill, Maggie Lawson, Corbin Bernsen, Jeffrey Tambor
The Scene: Henry and Lloyd digging their own graves

This is easily the funniest scene I’ve seen all week! It starts a bit grim, with Henry and Lloyd digging their own graves. But when they’re joined by Shawn, Gus and Juliet and then Shawn starts to stall to give the police time to find them, it all becomes a hilarious (!) conversation about who should be buried with who, since there are only two graves and five people to be buried in them. If you don’t watch the show, you’re missing out! It’s hard to explain, how this potentially deadly and serious situation can be so funny, it just is, in the very specific Psych way. The secret is the fantastic actors and the dialogues which literally can make you fall out the chair! Plus the cabbage patch dance by the bad guys!

3. Show: SUPERNATURAL
Episode: “Goodbye Stranger”
Date: March 20, 2013
Actors: Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki
The Scene: Dean and Sam at the end

It’s easy to figure out why this is my favorite scene of the episode. I just love all the brothers moments! Also, the Lord of The Rings reference, is without a doubt, one of my favorites on the show (and there’s been A LOT of them). Great quote and the perfect timing! I’m also very happy that Sam is finally being honest with Dean about his situation, they’re stronger together and it’s nice when they remember about that. Brilliant work by Jared and Jensen, as always!
I also really enjoyed the moment with Cas and Meg, earlier in the episode. It was sweet and even romantic, which is quite strange, considering the fact there’s a demon and an angel involved (he’s her unicorn!). I think I’m gonna miss Meg, more than I expected, to be honest.

NOTE: The scene was also picked by klutzy girl as Scene Of The Week!

Castle, “Scared to Death”, March 18, 2013 – “Be with Kate”, No. 1 on Castle’s bucket list

  1. Castle is #Always my number one on any list <3

  2. Oh, I totally forgot that scene from Castle.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Dean and Castiel in the crypt for me. Dean's we're family, we need you, stating that he, Sam and Cas are a family; Dean later saying 'I need you' stating he, Dean, needs Castiel. The whole scene was intense and heart breaking and amazing. It was even romantic, I should add. Love broke the connection between Naomi and Cas, later the angel tablet finished the job. Amazing scene with amazing acting. Next to it, I loved the ending scene from the episode with Sam and Dean and LOTR quote. That was adorable; I love brother moments.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Supernatural - Both the end scene with Sam and Dean and the part where Cas breaks programming.

Beauty and the Beast - The end scene where Vincent gets shot. Very dramatic.

Grimm - Nick, Hank, Monroe, and Rosalee have dinner and the fight scene.

Arrow - I liked the fight scene between Arrow and Huntress, and scenes with Roy and Thea.

The Vampire Diaries - Elena and Rebekah leave Damon behind. What goes around comes around Damon.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Of course Crypt Scene in Supernatural! It was very powerful moment between Dean and Cas and I still can't stop thinking about it.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I loved the "be with Kate" scene and Regina and Snow's scene at the end when Snow/MM was begging Regina to kill her and ripped out her heart. So good.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Loved Castle and New Girl this week, the scenes from Arrow and The Americans were close behind.

    ReplyDelete
  8. "I need you" to vote for the Dean and Cas crypt scene.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Castiel and Dean in the crypt was a very intense moment and the actors were brilliant :)

    ReplyDelete
  10. Dean and Cas in Lucifer's crypt was intense and the acting by both Jensen and Misha was flawless. It was heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. There's no way anything else tops it.

    ReplyDelete
  11. As much as I love that Beckett was the nº1 on Castle's bucket list, my favorite scene this was was without any doubt the second to last scene of last Sunday's OUAT. Snow showing up at Regina's door begging her to kill her and Regina denying it to her. It was one of the most powerful and well acted scenes I've ever seen on a TV show.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Voted for the scene of Dean and Cas in the crypt. Because, wow, what a powerful scene! Showed how much Dean loves and cares about Cas. "We're family. We need you" Cas is now part of the family. He is importand for both Dean and Sam. "I need you" had me in tears. Literally broke the connection between Cas and Naomi. Then, when Cas heals Dean. Such a tender moment. Those two will be the death of me. I can't even begin to describe how much I loved the scene. Dean and Cas' love for each other is legendary

    ReplyDelete
  13. Crypt scene of Supernatural for sure, I don't know when was the last time this show managed to deliver such a powerful scene. Dean & Cas' connection is such a powerful thing, I wish they'd utilized it more throughout the season (and I hope they will in s9 with Misha being a regular). The scene with Dean&Sam was very good as well, but more in a cute brotherly way.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Cas and Dean in the crypt and Sam and Dean brotherly talk in the Impala <3

    ReplyDelete
  15. How does Justified continue to get ignored every week in this poll? It's the best show currently on TV!

    ReplyDelete
  16. The wine scene between Kerry Washington and Lisa Edelstein in Scandal was epic

    ReplyDelete
  17. I second that! Excellent episode all round

    ReplyDelete
  18. Cas and Dean in the crypt. Outstanding acting. Very intense scene.

There's something so powerful about the way Dean brought his Cas back (the true Cas, not the machine Naomi had made him into, controlling him, breaking him, making him kill Dean a thousand times) by showing him genuine love and confessing his affection and need for him.

For me, definitely the best scene in even more than just a week. In a long time. Up there with that thriller opening.

    ReplyDelete
  19. While Sam and Deans scene was sooo cute (the LOTR refrence is a new addition to my favorites of Deans hilarious pop culture references!), it was by no means the most powerful scene they've shared, even this season.
In comparison The Crypt Scene had me cowering and completely engrossed. It was one of Dean and Cas' most poignant scenes to date and I hope the show continue to work with the dynamic,

A+++ to Robbie, Jensen and Misha for a truly amazing scene!

    ReplyDelete
  20. The Sam and Dean moment at the end of the episode was very sweet, and I too enjoyed Dean quoting from Lord of the Rings, but I don't feel like it was a particularly noteworthy moment between the brothers. I think their most power scene so far this season was their raw, open and emotional talk in episode 8.14. For this episode, the Dean and Castiel scene in the crypt was by far the most moving and powerful aspect of the episode. It was great to see Castiel's love for Dean break through Naomi's hold on him, and I loved how Dean told him that "We're family. We need you; I need you." I am so glad Misha Collins is a regular for season 9 as I hate seeing Dean and Cas torn constantly apart, and hopefully we'll see less of that next season with Misha Collins as a regular again. I want Dean to have his family together, and this episode reaffirms that "family" includes both Sam and Castiel. :) Go Team Free Will!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Dean and Castiel in the crypt. How anyone could overlook that scene and talk about anything else in that episode is beyond me. Glad the majority agrees.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Dean and Sam at the end was an Impala chat I actually relished. It was classic Supernatural with the two brothers caring in a non-sappy way and teasing like brothers. Very satisfying in an otherwise unsatisfactory episode.

I also liked the fight between Oliver and the Huntress. It was one of those memorable action scenes I love Arrow for.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It is possible that, as stated in the introduction before the poll, no one on the SpoilerTV team that contributes to this segment watches it. Why don't you tell us your favorite scene from Justified? You may just sway a bunch of people to start watching it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Nice to see someone agreeing with me, for a change;) I really enjoy these classic moments with brothers, cause even when they're not so big and powerful, they mean a lot to me.

And yeah, that was a cool fight! I was quite surprised when she caught the arrow, seems kinda impossible! Arrow has some great action scenes!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I gotta say, the Dean and Cas in the crypt scene won it for me. What an intense exchange!! Those boys acted the hell out of it! No matter how hard Naomi tried to train Castiel to kill Dean... when faced with the real thing, their bond won out. He chose family. And, well... isn't that kinda the whole point?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Other - Spartacus:War of the Damned.Incredible episode! My scene of the week was,of course, the final scene,as one of the most bad ass(and one of my favorite) characters on TV met his end.The farewell scene between Crixus and Spartacus comes a close second.

If it wasn't for Spartacus,I would have gone for Supernatural.Either the final scene with the brothers or (probably) the scene in the crypt between Dean and Cas.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Agree, it's the most powerful and intimate scene we've seen in a while. The Sam Dean scene was flat, weak and I don't even know why somebody chose that.

    ReplyDelete
  28. "I need you" to vote for Cean and Cas . We want scenes like that!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Scandal. No contest. Lisa Edelstein absolutely rocked the episode and the bottle scene with her and Kerry Washington was outstanding!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I went with Sam & Dean at the end of SPN. The scene was so perfect with the touch of humor tossed in there, def a favorite. Runner up for me would be the 'grave' scene in Psych. Poor Gus - his reaction to being the odd many out was hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  31. The crypt scene is amazing, Jensen Ackles acting left me speechless, and Dean and Cas relationship is getting more and more intense, they are so in love...

    ReplyDelete
  32. I voted for that heart-thumping cat and mouse iin the warehouse between Andrea and the Governor. Close second would be Nick fighting Mr. Sandman while blind.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Obviously Dean and Castiel in the crypt, it was such a powerful scene.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm chuckling a bit at the description for The Crypt Scene:

"Castiel and Dean in the crypt; Dean says "We're family, we need you, I need you"; Castiel breaks his programming."

nbd guize, he just broke the mega mind whammy heaven had over him all season, which caused him to kill Samandriel his brother (sorry!!) and 1000 fake Deans, it's all pretty chill.
    another day, another dollar right?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think the Sam and Dean scene has its merits. It was funny and cute and we got a glimpse at the brothers current head space. However I agree with you about The Crypt Scene- very powerful and wonderfully intimate.

    ReplyDelete
  36. There is something about old school Supernatural before it became too big for the human story that gets me every time. When we get moments like those that harken back to the SPN I know and love I cherish them. What I particularly loved was that it didn't get overly emoangsty and really felt like the way males, especially brothers, communicate. They said their piece, came to agreement, and ended in humor. That's as classic Supernatural as you can get.

As for the Huntress, I was also shocked when she caught the arrow. It made me wonder if she was somehow superhuman, similar to the way Oliver was able to run down her motorcycle the first time she was on.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Justified was listed in this poll a couple of weeks ago so someone watches it. I can't narrow it down to just one scene the whole episode was great. Maybe Bob's interrogation scene or Boyd talking to Raylan through the door near the end of the episode.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yeah, choosing between Sam and Dean's scene and Dean and Cas' scene was hard. Sam and Dean felt like brothers again and I was awwwing the whole time. But I have to go with the crypt scene, because it was wonderfully shot (with Cas jumping between Heaven and Earth) and let's be honest, I've seen it like 4 times already and it's still as powerfull as the first time. I've waited for Cas to regain control for so long and he did it (just like John, Bobby and Sam) because he loves Dean.

    ReplyDelete
  39. A lot of great scenes this week but had To go with dean and Castiel in the crypt. Watching Cas fight against Naomi to save dean and dean trying to get through to Cas, just amazig

    ReplyDelete
  40. I saw it as lazy writing, a few quotes from LOTR and that's it, it would have been more powerful had the writer chosen to write some original lines for it

    ReplyDelete
  41. Αρχάγγελος Στεφ24 March 2013 at 22:58

The "I need you" line simply cannot be eclipsed. Epsecially if you take into account the events that went down during this scene. It is just impossible. Jensen and Misha blew the house away.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Omarlittletheking24 March 2013 at 23:03

Agree Crixus's death and his farewell with Spartacus are my scenes of the weeek

    ReplyDelete
  43. I enjoyed most Lisa Edelstein and Kerry Washington's epic scene over wine. We should have more raw moments between ladies like these on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The crypt scene is definitely one of the best of season gr8! It was full of stress, emotion and pain. And... LOVE OFF COURSE!!!! And that moment when Cas took the stone and it start to shine!!! OMFG!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I personally liked the way the relatively laid back atmosphere of their scene contrasted the intense atmosphere of Dean and Cas' scenes. It gave Dean a support to fall back on when he's obviously quite shaken up and hurt. And the LOTR quote was the latest in what seems like a theme of "nerdy" quotes from Dean which I think are beyond adorable. Anyway I do see your point, but I think we just differ here. I stand by Th Crypt Scene as my favourite though, so there we agree! :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Two favorites for me this week. First Arizona allowing Callie to see and feel her leg in the x-ray room was so beautiful. To see Arizona finally let Callie in again and how Callie acted in that moment was perfect. Then secondly, Scandal Olivia and Lisa Edelstein's character drinking whilst having clearly two different conversations which reflected each others personal situations was so smart. And generally the drinking scenes in Scandal are pretty great.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Dean/Cas crypt scene, by a country mile. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Dean and Castiel crypt scene was one of the best moments of the entire Supernatural series, which is a high quality show full of incredible moments. The acting in that scene was amazing, especially from Jensen who always takes these emotional scenes and makes them brilliant.

    ReplyDelete
  49. ehehe I see your point too :) The beginning was also spectacular, and Misha vacant expression at the hundreds of murdered Deans gave me goosebumps. It also deserved to be here

    ReplyDelete
  50. The Castle and Once Upon a Time scenes given by everyone in the comments. The Castle scene was so sweet and the Once scene was so well acted.

The NCIS episode as a whole was great. I loved the scene with Ziva and Vance but I think my favorite was the finale scene with Dex and Ruby sitting by their Marine Sergeant's coffin. Definitely had a lump in my throat when the team brought Dex to Ruby.

The Mentalist was also a pretty good episode too. Can't really think of a worthy scene though.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I saw the little kid being Greg reveal like five or ten minutes before it happened

    ReplyDelete
  52. Great! Not everyone responds every week so maybe Justified will be on the list next week. I finished the pilot a bit ago and look forward to watching all of season 1 this summer when I have a little more time.

    ReplyDelete
  53. You'll enjoy it. Each season the show has gotten better. That's rare for a show.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Far as Supernatural goes, I picked Dean and Castiel in the crypt. The Sam and Dean brother talk in the car was too typical and easily forgettable. Castiel and Meg... Damn, I hope Meg resurrects. Their scene was sickly sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I am looking forward to it. My dad really likes it and we generally share similar tastes. Plus when I tweeted that I was going to watch the pilot one of the writers tweeted me their thanks. Never had that happen before so apparently the #Justified crew is very supportive of fans.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Destiel scene was so powerful. Both actors were amazing. My choice by far

    ReplyDelete
  57. Wow that's pretty cool. I've had it in my top 5 for best shows of the year the past 2 years but I think it might just be number 1 this year depending on how it ends. The Newsroom, Homeland and Sonsof have already clinched spots in it along with it and The Walking Dead is the top contender for the last spot.

    ReplyDelete
  58. My favorite scene was Castiel and Dean in the crypt. Amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The crypt scene hands down. Cas and Dean have such an intense onscreen relationship. So talented.

    ReplyDelete
  60. [Climbs on top of a mountain naked, covered in honey and feathers yodeling] DESTIEELLLLL

    ReplyDelete
  61. Much as I adored the scene between Dean and Sam (Cheers for the LOTR quote!!!), I have to vote for the Dean and Cas scene from the crypt! That entire scene was brilliantly written and brilliantly acted. So, so emotional. Possibly one of my favorite Supernatural scenes ever.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Winner winner chicken dinner!

    ReplyDelete
  63. wow something fishy is going on here

    ReplyDelete
  64. The crypt scene was superb, and I was especially impressed to read that Misha and Jensen improvised some of the moments themselves. I love how much effort they put into this relationship. It showed onscreen. It was a tremendous moment for Dean, for his sense of self-worth, and his faith. Dean is someone who never wanted to believe. Belief saved his life.

I thought the Dean and Sam moment was also great. It was written in a much more "Sam and Dean" way than most of the recent seasons. I liked that Dean stood up for himself and that Sam called him out on using a movie line.

I also have to mention the opening scene with the warehouse full of dead Deans - easily one of the most chilling moments ever on this show. This is the first time in quite a while I've been scared by the show.

    ReplyDelete
  65. All the 2000+ people who voted in the last hour for Scandal didn't bother to leave a comment on the poll? I'd say that's strange, unless they are ro(bot)s or something.

    ReplyDelete
  66. the crypt scene was a powerful moment between dean and cas. there's already like a thousand broments between sam and dean. i would've chosen meg and cas's cute little thing before that, tbh.

    ReplyDelete
  67. What part of it is fishy? Lack of comments for Scandal or the flood of SPN comments?

    ReplyDelete
  68. The fact that it went from zero to 2500 in less than 15 minutes with no one bothering to talk about it.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Yeah, it is weird. Guess a few other websites discovered the poll.

    ReplyDelete
  70. And this efforty people have nothing to say, yet have an army so diligent that every time you refresh the page 20 more is added. Talk about magic rather.

    ReplyDelete
  71. It's weird, but if you're suggesting some may be voting multiple times, I don't know how cause they're not supposed to be able to do so.

    ReplyDelete
  72. How come Scandal got so many votes all of a sudden? And how come no one has commented from the voters? What? Anyway, The Castle scene is way better than that one. Anyway, I vote for Dean and Castiel in the crypt scene, because of everything it was; it was intense and powerful, romantic in the sense that very intimate (and even desperate) feelings were shown raw, and it was moving. I think the scene deserves the spot as the best scene this week to be honest.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Just because there is a thousand brother scenes doesn't make it less potent. I'm a big fan of Dean and Cas, but the brothers are supposed to be the heart of the show and that little scene at the end was sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Actually it was more like 35 minutes. I told a friend on messenger (with timestamps) to vote for D/C, she did & they were in the lead. 35 mins later I vote for them & well their lead was gone lol.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'm not suggesting anything but computer savvy people always find ways to get around voting restrictions and flood polls with votes. They're usually smarted than this though and won't pour the votes all at once, and for a candidate that got no mention in the comments at all.

    ReplyDelete
  76. lydia frahns-edward25 March 2013 at 05:14

Guys remember that "I need you" is Winchester for "I love you"! Dean practically confessed! Vote Dean and Cas Crypt Scene

    ReplyDelete
  77. Scandal gets 2200 tweets a minute when it airs. They have alot of people really into it. My guess it got posted on a board, and people are just voting.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Where are these Scandal fans flocking from?
In other news, the crypt scene was incredibly powerful, and what's more, it showed, not told, which is kind of the heart of Destiel, isn't it? Something unspoken, but powerful enough to move worlds

    ReplyDelete
  79. How the hell could Dean and Castiel's scene be LOSING?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Scandal has a big Twitter fanbase so I guess they got the vote out? Good for them, although I really loved the Dean/Cas scene.

    ReplyDelete
  81. But this poll is one vote per IP. Even if a lot of people got wind of it the vote shouldn't go up so steadily and nonstop. It should level out at some point unless some people ( or machines) are voting again and again.

    ReplyDelete
  82. the "Bottle scene" between Olivia Pope and Sarah Stanner (Lisa Edelstein’s) character. It was brilliantly written, and even more brilliantly played. This scene will go down in the golden fund of TV.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Once again you can see how much the poll engine is broken in here (or should I say - not protected ;)).

    ReplyDelete
  84. That's a good point.

I've enjoyed the comments here, so even if the show doesn't win, we've shown how many people care about Cas and Dean.

  88. Spartacus was amazing this week. The scene where Crixus was rallying his troops, "What lies beneath your feet?" "Sacred ground, watered with tears of blood" sent shivers down my spine. The final scene as well was absolutely heartbreaking and brilliantly shot.

  89. I would pick the whole ep of SPN, it may just be my favorite ep of all time. Loved Dean and Cas in the crypt, Meg and Cas, Meg and Sam talking about his year away, Cas and Naomi. The worse scene for me was Sam, telling Dean he would not lie to him any more....same song, hundredth verse. I will not hold my breath for that to be true.

    ReplyDelete
  90. And I don't believe Sam will not lie to Dean....again.

  91. Yea!! Team FREE WILL is back.

  93. Yes Cas is a member of the family and I loved that scene.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I agree with you about Jensen bringing home the emotional scenes, can't think of anyone that does it better and not just thinking about SPN, but all shows. Am going to hate to see this series end, but will enjoy Jensen in anything else he does, movie Ten Inch Hero is awesome.

  96. In my mind it's "I love you"

    ReplyDelete
  97. That opening scene was a WTH moment, someone said guess that is where all the dead Deans went from Mystery Spot. lol

The Dean and Sam in car did not impress me because Sam has said way to many times I won't lie to you, but keeps doing it.

  100. That is one thing I tell people that have never watched SPN, there is a lot of silent acting and for me that makes the show. They have to WATCH the show. This series has some of the best actors on TV and if they were not on CW, Emmys would surely be coming their way..what a shame.

    ReplyDelete
  101. My problem with the car scene is I don't believe Sam, we have been here and done this way to many times.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I love Justified and they have some powerful acting, some even winning Emmys, but as good as it is SPN is my favorite series on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Goodbye stranger crypt scene...the most intense scene this season!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Get ready for a good time, this series is very powerful with some perfect acting.

    ReplyDelete
  105. But how many times has Sam said I won't lie to you again, but does it anyway. I did like the LOTR quote.

  108. @disqus_o508tmlDVm:disqus The poll was created unfortunately with the option to block repeat voters turned off.

I've removed the poll for now until the author can create a new poll and re-add it.

We'll update this post when the new poll has been added.

  111. I may be in the minority on this site but I don't think Supernatural is as good as it once was. Ever since the end of season 5 I think the show has gotten worse. I've been watching since the first episode so I will continue to do so since I'm invested in seeing how it ends though.

    ReplyDelete
  112. crypt scene from supernatural!

  115. thanks!! let's vote for dean and cas then :)

    ReplyDelete
  116. Why are treating this poll like a competition, when it's clearly isn't?

    ReplyDelete
  117. The scene in the Impala at the end of Supernatural was brilliant. It showed that the writers DO know what fans want to see...

    ReplyDelete
  118. Thank you for the fix. I was thinking my brain was playing tricks on me. Unless an entire nation woke up and decided to vote on this poll what happened yesterday didn't make any sense.

    ReplyDelete
  119. What baffles me was that someone started a bot and left it running at maximum speed, not realizing people would eventually catch on. And I doubt it was a Scandal fan, more like someone who hated Supernatural very much and wanted it to lose at all cost. Thanks again to the mods for fixing it.

    ReplyDelete
  120. The scene in the crypt was brilliant. This is the second time in this season we've seen Dean acknowledge that he needs Cas in his life. I'm glad to see that the show is evolving to a more healthy and less codependent relationship between the brothers, which only will make them happy. They don't live in a vacuum, they need more support in their lives, they need love interests and friends. It makes the show more dynamic. I hope that in season 9 Team free will stick together again, the brothers and Cas, working together. Because family doesn't end in blood. And honestly, the interactions between Dean and Cas are the best. I hope they're on the same page, finally. I don't want to see Cas on his own, he has a family where he belongs <3

  122. Jensen and Misha's on-screen chemistry is mind-blogging. Nothing can beat that and in the crypt scene they've outdone themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Whoa so there was a lot of repeat voters! I didn't know the block wasn't on.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Wow that made a big difference.

    ReplyDelete
  125. It was Swan Song and all they did was slot Castiel into Sam's role .

    ReplyDelete
  126. It only seems right that Destiel is winning. J2 (the friendship, not the ff ship) is over after all the crap that happened last year and has been replaced by Cockles. Seems just that Destiel replaces Wincest as fandom's favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  127. o.o what did happen last year?

    ReplyDelete
  128. You know it's possible for us to prefer Dean/Cas scenes over Sam/Dean scenes without belittling Sam/Dean scenes or making it seem like the people who prefer Sam/Dean scenes are somehow wrong for doing so. Call me whatever you will, but stating a preference =/= negating otherwise good scenes to validate our favorites. And this is why people on Tumblr think we're all delusional asshats.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Not that I seek to give people trolling this poll finding reasons to bash those in our fandom who don't join us in stanning for dean/cas or jensen/misha, but there has been a disconnect between j2 since 2009 before their weddings.

    http://storify.com/speakthetruth/intro

Scroll down to near the bottom of the page and click the appropriate year and read up on the events. J2 is no longer a thing if you read the clues correctly and don't hat for J2. J2 is over and Cockles has replaced it.

    ReplyDelete
  130. I hear nothing but positive things about the show so I am looking forward to it. I'm hoping it is my replacement for Memphis Beat.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I think season 8 has been a real dip in quality, so much so that sometimes it is painful to watch Supernatural now. I didn't mind season 6 and there was a lot I liked about season 7. This season however has been a mess from start to now. I will be looking for a new favorite series next season if I don't find one over the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  132. of course the best was the crypt scene between Dean and Cas.. i'm sure that profound love broke the connection between Naomi and Cas.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I think there's been an occasional great episode since the end of season 5 but not enough for me. I use to never miss an episode of Supernatural watching every single one of them live now I catch them on the DVR a couple of days later. The Live Free or Twihard episode was the last one I'vewatched . That one just ruined the show for me. My dad and I use to watch every episode together but ever since they killed off Bobby he's had no interest in watching the show anymore. I'm only going to keep watching cause I've invested 8 years of my life into these characters of Sam and Dean and I wanna see how it ends.
Once Lost ended got me Sons of Anarchy has taken over as my favorite show. You should give that a shot or Justified like we were taking about earlier or The Newsroom was I thought the best new show of the year so far or Homeland had been great and of course The Walking Dead is amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Are you kidding me? Cas was about to KILL Dean, of course Dean will say anything to save his own life. Dean only use the "family" stuff when Cas is being menacing or threatening his life.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I agree that it's possible to praise and support something without belittling another. I wish people wouldn't do that, it's not classy at all.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I think it was meant to be a contrast to the times when Castiel and Dean have reached an impasse (Point of No Return, The Man Who Would Be King) as well as a call-back to Swan Song (with the sole purpose of highlighting the power of love, not to replace Sam, as you imply). Parallels are powerful tools, especially in television. And using similar scenarios with different characters shows the audience all the ways in which they are the same and in which they are different with a kind of visual symmetry. Juxtaposing the key phrases, "I'm here, I'm not going to leave you." with "We're family. We need you. I need you." just really shows the different kind of love relationships that Dean holds with Sam and Castiel. And it actually serves to show that they DON'T replace each other in Dean's heart. They occupy two separate and important places in his life. Don't diminish one in favor of another. :)

    ReplyDelete
  137. I can't share your Walking Dead love. Sorry. I was excited to watch the first season because of all of the hype. Instead I found it alternately gross and boring. Way too much time where absolutely nothing happened in that first season. I am more of an action person than a "long, brooding, dramatic pauses" person. I expect to watch Homeland this summer. I didn't get to it last summer because I was too busy but I am making room this time. Quite frankly I keep pushing Sons of Anarchy to the bottom of my list because I have to have someone to root for, someone who isn't evil, in the shows I watch. From what I hear none of the people in SoA fit that bill. That's one reason why I could never get into Dexter, Breaking Bad, The Mentalist, or House; I couldn't stand the main characters. I'm also not a fan of Hollywood pushing politics at me a la The West Wing so anything Sorkin does gets a skeptical glance from me. Generally I am not a fan of HBO, Showtime, or AMC. We obviously have diverse tastes, but I think I will like Justified as I liked the pilot.

Live Free or Twihard was a truly bad episode. I can see why you would stop watching live there. As for killing off Bobby, that and keeping Castiel were the biggest mistakes Sera Gamble ever made in my opinion. It has shown in the many failing ways the show has tried to fill Bobby's absence since his death. Bringing him back as a ghost was an epic failure and trying to shoehorn Garth in as a replacement has been even worse. I have also spent 8 years of my life on SPN but like you my live viewing days are coming to an end. I've only missed watching 2 episodes on the same day so far. I expect to marathon seasons 9 and 10 instead just so I too can know what happens to Dean and Sam. I think it will be easier to take the pacing issues, retread plots, and out of character brothers in big batches than one dreaded week at a time.

    ReplyDelete
  138. I don't even know what show are you watching, but I'm sure as hell it isn't supernatural.

    ReplyDelete
  139. I don't see Castiel taking Sam's place. I don't think that can ever happen at all! :) That would never work, especially since Sam and Dean are the engine that runs this show. Sam is Dean's little brother, and I know very well having sisters myself that the place of a sibling can never be demoted or replaced in a person's life. I don't think the objective was to have Castiel take Sam's role; that is impossible. What I do think is that the parallel to Swan Song was to show the viewers that Cas has come to have a place as important in Dean's life as Sam, but in a total different way. Castiel can never replace Sam as a brother, but I do think the show is slowly showing Castiel as Dean's lover, his romantic love interest (many don't see it this way, that's ok :) I didn't until very recently, so I understand). You see, the place a lover takes in a person's heart is the closest to the place a family member would take. Sam will always be Dean's little brother, but that doesn't mean another person cannot enter Dean's heart and occupy it in a similar way to the point Dean /needs/ this person with him in his life (like a person loves and needs their spouse, but still loves their family and would never forget them or leave them completely despite getting married and moving away). I believe this is the difference between Sam and Cas and how they occupy Dean's heart. Dean loves them both with the same strength, but differently: Sam as his blood, his brother, the first most important being in his life; Cas as his most intimate friend, his lover, the second most important being in his life. Dean's 'I need you' (added after we're family, we need you) is the key word here to highlight the difference between what Sam and Cas mean to Dean.
(Sorry for the long comment, I just want to clear things for other Sam fans, since I've seen this worry a lot lately :) I may be a Destiel supporter now, but I'm a Sam girl since season 1, he's my baby and how I see things, I assure you, the show is not placing Cas into Sam's role, that just won't happen :3)

The Fake!Deans begged for their lives, yes, so you're right about that; however Real!Dean reassured Cas that he (Castiel) is important and not alone and that everything will be okay. Please remember that Cas still feels guilty about what he did in Heaven, what he did to his family; Dean reminded him that the Angels are not the only family he has, that Dean is here for him. You also have to remember that Dean Winchester has never begged anyone to save him, he never thinks about himself, always only about his family members (Sammy is the best example). Also "family" includes the person you'e in love with.

Remember "I need you" = "I love you" in Winchester! Vote Dean/Cas crypt scene!

  142. Dean&Cas in the crypt, one of the most touching scene in Supernatural ever.Jensen&Misha are two amazing actors.

    ReplyDelete
  143. I watch more shows on cable combined then I do on the 5 big networks combined. It's the writing followed by the acting of these shows that keeps me watching them. For me The Walking Dead is more about the characters that have survived so far more then the gory zombie deaths but they were getting complaints last yearthat weren't enough gory deaths lay selast season so they amped that up this season. For Sons of Anarchy Jax is the hero that everybody roots for and the women love him too. Just about everyone I have suggested to start watching the show about a dozen different people have ended up having a different favorite character.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Eh, no. Dean didn't want to leave Cas behind in purgatory because they ARE family and they DO love one another. So yeah, this doesn't just come when Cas is threatening Dean's life. Actions will always speak louder than words, and Dean would give up his own life/safety to save Cas. This is canon. :)

    ReplyDelete
  145. Why are we discussing J2 and Cockles here? Please take that stuff off to your own private areas because most people find it rude to discuss the actor's personal lives. We're here as fans of Dean/Cas and Dean/Sam - as in the fictional characters! Okay?

    ReplyDelete
  146. Wonderful post! Completely agree. :)

    ReplyDelete
  147. Yeah, I would say someone who hated Destiel, not necessarily SPN. In other polls, we've had a similar history where we have people actively voting against us just so Dean/Cas won't win and they aren't even quiet about it. They boast about taking us down on tumblr and twitter. It's very infantile but I believe this is just coming from literally a handful of very extreme people that have serious problems. Polls should be fun, not taken to such a way that you want to cheat to make others lose...

    ReplyDelete
  148. I agree that the brother's moments can still be powerful and sweet. That moment when Sam called Dean a genius and just gave him all this positive feedback this season was so wonderful. I was flailing as a Dean/Sam fan. :) But in this episode, while the last scene was sweet, it paled in comparison to the powerful moment between Dean/Cas. That was just on a whole other level and I'd say a good part of that lies in the acting of Jensen and Misha who really brought their full talent to the scene. It was wonderful to watch. :)

    ReplyDelete
  149. I think Jensen is the best actor in the series. I really do. And I don't say that because I have a big Dean bias, because I don't. I started off as a Sam!girl and now I'm a Cas!girl so Dean has never been my favorite of everyone else BUT Jensen is just slightly better, IMO, than the rest of the main cast. Though everyone is still very talented. :)

    ReplyDelete
  150. Loved the scene, but we have been there to many times and Sam always goes back to lying. Loved the quote though.

    ReplyDelete
  151. fructoselollipop25 March 2013 at 18:08

Dean has said "I need you," to Cas twice now. The first time when he found Cas in Purgatory, and Cas certainly wasn't threatening him then. And the argument there that Dean only needed Cas for his power is moot, since being with Cas in Purgatory was more dangerous for Dean and he didn't care. Face it, Dean cares about Cas as more than just the means to an end, as more than a superhero who can smite monsters for him. Dean cares about Cas as his best friend (or more, depending on how you look at it) and clearly wants ("needs" per his own admission) Cas in his life.

    ReplyDelete
  152. I did not see it as SS, I thought about the scene where Cas was beating Dean in the alley..Dean saying JUST DO IT. Did not even thing about Swan Song.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Crypt scene, hands down. "I need you" translation - "I love you". Can't get enough Dean/Cas scenes! <3

    ReplyDelete
  154. Castiel and Dean in the crypt was a critical moment for the show. It demonstrates the power of whatever relationship they have and added to Castiel's character development by breaking from his SIXTEEN EPISODES OF MIND CONTROL. It's an incredible moment, and it means a lot to everyone in the Supernatural fandom. Whether you ship Destiel or not.

    ReplyDelete
  155. They are watching "The Only-Brothers Show".

    ReplyDelete
  156. I agree, thought we were not supposed to go to private lives on this forum..

    ReplyDelete
  157. Mm...not in my book. The scene was anemic and predictable. The only part about the scene that sticks out for me was the fact that the writer had Dean compare himself to a plucky man-servant. And I actually resented that. The scene may have proved that the writers know what YOU want to see...but you're not everyone. My vote goes the the Dean/Cas scene. It was absolutely wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Of course, the Dean/Cas crypt scene!!! Nothing can compete with it (for me)

    ReplyDelete
  159. You can really see the power of all the Destiel shippers here with the results of the crypt scene. We are so far ahead it kinda astounds me. Every single one of us voting. It has only hit me now, how many of us there are. We are hammering the others. Think of all of us as a collective group of people wanting a common goal. God, even that single sentence is amazing. We are amazing. The crypt scene was incredible and the acting from both actors was through the roof. I really hope the crypt scene wins this poll.
But of course, Dean and Sam's scene was beautiful too. The perfect amount of angst with the quote about Dean carrying Sam, and a touch of humor to top it all off with the reference to Lord Of The Rings.
Just a good episode which was nicely balanced, even the Megstiel scenes, though out of place were a good send off for the character. Love this show.

    ReplyDelete
  160. My bad on the scene description. I was thinking of the text in the poll, didnt realize people would wax poetic, and didn't bother to describe it adequately (not that a different description would have gotten YOUR vote, obviously, but I wish I had represented it better for the folks who did appreciate it.)

    ReplyDelete
  161. Good to know Supernatural is about Sam and Dean, judging by these polls, nobody would think it.

    ReplyDelete
  162. This is a fascinating tale. I haven't read all of it but the parts I've read... For the record, these people DO know that J2 and Cockles are as fictional as Wincest and Destiel, right? That each of the boys have a family they love and care about very much, right? Unless that's the case, and this is purely for entertainment purposes, we're witnessing some hilariously extreme tinhatting here.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Because it isn't. It's about the epic battle between heaven, hell and humans. That's why it's called Supernatural not "That Winchester Show."

    ReplyDelete
  164. poptart_of_doom25 March 2013 at 21:57

    lol the hell?

    ReplyDelete
  165. Beautifully said. Personally I am a Cas girl and a huge Destiel supporter, but that does not mean that I don't love Sam every bit as much as I love Cas and Dean. All three of them have captured my heart. I also don't think that anyone will ever replace Sam for Dean. Dean and Sam. Sam and Dean. That's the show. Always has been and always will be. Nobody will ever be more important to Dean than his Sammy. He'll always look out for Sammy, no matter what. And nobody could ever take the place of Sam's big brother. Their relationship is absolutely one of the main ingredients in what makes this show work. Either brother having someone else that they truly care about, someone else that is important to them, does not diminish their importance to each other. I'm glad to see Cas as being part of the family and hope to see his role in the show become even more prominent. I don't think that the show will ever go there, but I would be beyond thrilled to see Cas and Dean's relationship become romantically canon. But as much as I love Cas and Destiel, my main loyalty is and always will be to Team Free Will-2 boys and their angel. And I think any Supernatural fan should count themselves lucky that we have such wonderful actors on our show as Misha, Jensen, and Jared!

    ReplyDelete
  166. While I would expect the scene to definitely resonate with the Destiel community, I believe that the it also resonated with a lot of non-Destiel folks as well. It was an amazing scene. Whether you ship Dean/Cas or not...there is power and sublimity in their friendship...and that was spotlighted in that moment. A lot of people felt it. A powerful scene is a powerful scene. I think the turnout for this poll bears more power to the scene rather than just the power of Destiel fans. It was hands-down my favorite of the whole season so far.

    ReplyDelete

  169. Eric Kripke said: "It’s always been a show about family, much more than it is about anything else." And we all know that family doesn't end with blood.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Hey, thats cool, I just thought it was amusing seeing that emotionally charged "game changer" (to quote Misha) scene that caused the fandom to explode, condensed into 2 sentences!
sorry about this, I'm probably being dim here.. having trouble with the wording of the remainder of your message? If you're implying I did not appreciate the scene(??) I ned to make it clear; I voted for The Crypt Scene. It was, I think one of the most powerful scenes this season..I wrote a separate comment saying as much (it's knocking around here somewhere). But even if it had been worded: "Dean n' Cas r in d crypt & shiit goes down" I would have voted for it. That scene was too poignant to compress into a short summary, any representation would probably have fallen short because no words can effectively portray what Jensen and Mishas acting did so flawlessly.

When did this become so long?? Oh well hope any confusion is cleared up :)

    ReplyDelete
  171. Just because Sam and Dean are the main protagonists does not mean that:
    a) The show is and can only be about the two brothers, with no interaction from other characters or b) that other characters/relationships/dynamics can't have powerful, important scenes.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Lovely comment.

Though I don't remember reading about any improvisation?

    ReplyDelete
  173. Dear heaven the show would be boring if it was 100% Sam and Dean and nothing else. A base does not a home make.

    ReplyDelete
  174. It's nice to see Supernatural in 1st and 2nd. I had a difficult time. I went with Sam and and dean but cas and Dean in the crypt was just as awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Winner winner chicken dinner!

    ReplyDelete
  176. When we were watching that scene, my sister and I both said at the same time "Hey this is Swan Song". Yes, Castiel also beat Dean in the alley, but it wasn't as severe. This beating was more like Lucifer and Dean in Swan Song... the lines were even similar.

    ReplyDelete
  177. " What I do think is that the parallel to Swan Song was to show the
viewers that Cas has come to have a place as important in Dean's life as
Sam, but in a total different way."

How does duplicating a scene from Swan Song show that "Cas has come to have a place as important in Dean's life.... but in a totally different way".

I am not picking up the difference here. This was so similar that it totally took me out of the scene. When Jessica burned on the ceiling, that was symmetry. During this scene I was suddenly watch two actors replay a scene.

Where was the difference (except for the scenery and replacing Jared with Misha)?

    ReplyDelete
  178. I know it is really hard to take, isn't it, Sam is the only one that ever lies. Dean has never lied to Sam.... without a good reason at least :-)

    ReplyDelete
  179. My mom and sister really love the show, but I can't seem to get into it. I just loved the first episode, but I wasn't a fan of the blond woman that shot her husband. My sister keeps telling me that if I can just watch a few more episodes I will love it. I really wanna give it a chance to see Jim Beaver. But, I really want him to be a good guy. The last I heard we weren't sure...

    ReplyDelete
  180. Yes, I think both are correct. I think Destiel fans loved the scene and just "fans" of SPN, which do include Dean fans, Sam fans, Cas fans, and fans that love Dean/Cas relationship platonically/romantically without labels. I feel it was a POWERFUL, AMAZING scene and the majority of people recognize it as such. :)

    ReplyDelete
  181. Apparently the writer of the episode said (on Twitter I think) that for the crypt scene he just wrote "Cas heals Dean". That is was actually Jensen and Misha who basically brought the magic and made it what it was.

    ReplyDelete
  182. it DID NOT go from 0 to 2500 in 15 mins. it was 1500 several hours ago. what ti shows is how much people loved that scene as opposed to what else was on offer. other shows have done better in other polls.

    ReplyDelete

  185. He never told Sam "Just do it" He told Sam I'm here for you, not going to leave you. He was telling Cas, we need you, I need you. You're family. I leaned way more to the alley beating..don't piss off a nerd Angel. lol

    ReplyDelete
  186. The difference is Sam always says I won't lie to you, then does.

    ReplyDelete
  187. I don't know how close actors usually stay on script, but Jensen does add juicy bits often. In Ten Inch Hero the bonus material talks about what he added. Not sure how close "closed caption" is but when I watch with it on, some dialog is different, which I find interesting. Usually it is better than what is on CC. I always watch SPN once with it on.

so here we go, i'll give you 10 things that are different.

    1. the severity was different (dean actually was more injured in 8x17)

    2. the tone of the fight was different visually on the attacker's side (unlike in swan song we, the viewer, actually got to explicitly see castiel struggling to regain control)

    3. the tone of resistance was different on dean's side ("i'm here for you" is remarkably different than "we're family. we need you. i need you")

    4. the reasoning and tone of the fight was different from the one controlling the attacker (lucifer wanted sam to have to watch him beat dean to death. naomi wanted dean dead cause of tablet related reasons.)

    5. dean's reaction towards the end are different (in swan song when the beating got worse he didn't waver upon possible death at lucifer/sam's hand. in the crypt dean was notably scared of castiel towards the end even though he still didn't fight back.)

    6. dean's reasoning for being there was different as he actively went to be there for sam and dean was manipulated through naomi controlling cas to be in the crypt. dean wanting to be there set the tone for the beating in swan song.

    7. sam's resistance was the culmination of a 5 year story arc and character progression. castiel's resistance is the midway point of his emotional arc and the beginning of a possible new mytharc.

    8. the use of family was different and highlights that while these two men are important to dean they hold different places in his idea of family. and that different places doesn't equate to lesser. the reasons dean has for being willing to put his life on the line for either of them are markedly different but doesn't convey any lesser feelings in the process. it's not a competition.

    9. this was the first time we, the viewer, got to see castiel's struggle against heaven explicitly. which allowed us to explicitly hear what castiel thinks/feels about dean in the process. sam in contrast was shown more as re-enforcing/remembering things we already knew about how he thinks/feels about dean.

    10. dean breaking through to people he is close to is part of a long running happening on the show. by swan song that was the third time that had happened. you can draw parallels among all the times dean has done so and yet still find countless differences between them that are unique to each time.

if all you do is compare it to swan song you miss what they were trying to tell you in that scene completely.

  189. Yes. He said that they "blocked the scene that way" But blocking isn't improvisation; it's a normal part of acting. It's how they chose to rehearse the scene. Actors *always* determine how their character moves, their expressions, tone of voice, etc. Those things aren't in the script, ever, unless they impact the plot (like the basic action of healing Dean). And the director has input too. But it's not improv.

Improv implies that they came up with something in the moment and decided to go with it, even though it wasn't what was scripted, like adding or changing a line of dialogue. Or having the character do something different than what was on the page. That wasn't what happened here, if Robbie's tweet is the only thing we're going by.

  190. Wording is the main difference. :) I hope I can explain my view: In Swan Song, Dean reassures Sam that he is there, that he will not abandon him; he places himself in the place he's always been: the older brother and Sam's caretaker/protector. He lets Sam know that he is there, and that he will still be there. The love between them as brothers breaks through and Sam regains control of himself. Now, in the scene with Cas, instead of placing himself in this position of older brother/protector, Dean opens up showing vulnerability, stating that he needs Cas. 'It's me. We're family, we need you. I need you'. Instead of reassuring Cas in an older brother fashion, he tries to reach him with his feelings "You belong with me and Sam, we're your family. And I need you/you are essential in my life". With this, the love between make Cas regain control of himself. This is basically the difference. Dean for Sam: Older brother. He needs to reassure him and stay strong for him. Dean to Cas: He lets his guard down, shows himself vulnerable before him. Dean to Sam: Strong front, he is there for Sam. Dean to Cas: Vulnerable front, he needs Cas. I don't know if you see my point, but I hope I explained well :)

  191. Lol! My misunderstanding. Your comment reminded me of the flippant style of a friend of mine who tends to like to make fun of such moments. You both have a gift for humor :)

Anyway, thanks for articulating better than I did in the article. It is a bit txtsp33k, isn't it?? :)
