  1. This seems like a great idea.

Ok, I voted for CW. They don't appear to cancel too many shows early.

  3. I think FOX. Yeah, Terra Nova was a big production with a sum of money that would cost more jobs than it made. But look at Fringe, FOX could cancel it. It does not make money enough for FOX, but they kept the show, and gave them a last season to wrap up things. Also Touch, i know Kiefer Sutherland is one of FOX`s boys, but FOX could easily dropped the plug on that show.

CW also supports their show a lot, but that`s because nobody watches their shows if you compare to other networks. And i mostly dont like their shows, besides Arrow.

ABC canned Last Resort just now, and i dont feel ABC ever supported that show. Or it would not end up in that very hard spot on a thursday night. I hate them for that. ABC seems to be that channel that just hates or just dont support any show aimed for a male audience, and therefore they are not a supportive channel in my mind, unless it`s a show that makes dollah dolla bill yall.

Almost the same with NBC that almost canned Friday Night Lights, havent it been for DIrecTV. And look at Community now. Awake last season.

  5. Don't agree with ABC, they treated Cougar Town horribly and schedule their Sunday shows against awards ceremonies that rate high (Grammys), I love most of their shows but they are terrible with their shows. CBS is okay, Fox does look after it's shows loads, look at Glee for example, and MOB DOCTOR is still on the air. NBC is okay but they treated Scrubs very badly but I like NBC because they are rising this season and i've always rooted for them. However The CW is defiantly the most nurturing of it's shows.

  7. Not cancelling shows early doesn't mean a network supports its shows though. Support comes in good marketing, providing a decent lead-in/time slot, scheduling breaks/hiatus' well, etc. I think with how The CW is struggling in general, it can't afford to
cancel as many shows mid-season because 1.) It only has 10 hours of
original programming, and 2.) It doesn't have as many mid-season fillers as the other networks.

Example 1: Last Resort was put in a time slot that ABC has struggled to do well in for around 2 years. It had no lead-in as well. The network promoted it well, as far as I saw, and the critics loved the pilot. But the show just didn't pull in enough viewers. This could be the time slot's fault or it could be the network's fault for putting the show in that time slot. But a show's got to air at 8pm and ABC put one of its best fall dramas in that spot hoping its quality might help it. On the flip side, the recently cancelled 666 Park Avenue had a strong lead-in and, arguably, a time slot that has performed better for the network than Last Resort's. 666 Park Avenue also appeared to have the same amount of promotion/support. It fell just as hard as Last Resort did, but with more scheduling support than LR.

Example 2: NBC has given Revolution, this season's highest rated new show, a 3 month hiatus. The show they have shoveled the most money into (and that is highly serialized) will be going on a 3 month hiatus because the network is too afraid to air it without The Voice as its lead-in. While the lead-in is valuable, shows that are serialized don't do well with long mid-season breaks, irrespective of their lead-in. To me, that comes off as NBC not supporting its show well.

Example 3: The CW's Emily Owen's M.D. is, of the network's new fall share, the lowest performer. The show was promoted the least out of the 3 new shows, and given a substantially weaker lead-in than BATB (only other new fall show with a lead-in). While E.O. loss less from its lead-in and performed better when Arrow lead in for a night of repeats, BATB got a full season order. Does it mean BATB is a better show than E.O.? No, not at all. BATB just has the network's highest rated show as its lead-in (so it had a larger initial audience based on promotion and time slot). However, BATB fell way more dramatically in the ratings since its premiere than E.O. did. In fact, BATB has lost more than half of its lead-in and we aren't even at mid-season in terms of aired episodes yet. You could argue that The CW is not supporting E.O. and supporting BATB.

  10. Well considering Fox has allowed Fringe to last as long as it has, I'm going to go with Fox. If there was a poll for network gives the least support, NBC would take that without question.

  19. Because their situation is unique amongst all the broadcast networks, the most supportive is The CW.
    - They have fewer programs to cover so each of their shows will get more focused promotional support than they would on other networks.
    - They have less original programming to broadcast than other networks (and even less to replace a failed series with) which means their shows are typically on the air longer and are given a better chance to find an audience.
    - The CW is quite good at cross-platform promotion. (TV, internet, print, etc.)

  20. what exactly is wrong with The CW? if it isn't a cable network why does it have that ridicolously amount of viewers? . i always wondered that

    ReplyDelete
  21. The CW isn't any different now than it was when it was The WB. It's a small, low-cost network usually located on channels way up in the channel lineup (my local affiliate is channel 43) unlike most broadcast networks that take the first 12 channels or so. The CW is also a specific niche network with programs that do not appeal to wide audiences. You won't find an NCIS, a Law & Order, or a Grey's Anatomy on the CW. The audience they target is more specific and usually much smaller, as are their various budgets (production, promotion, etc.) and it all adds up to a smaller than average viewership.

  22. glad you cleared that up for me. thanks!

  23. I'm shocked that anyone would vote for FOX. They don't support their shows. Have you people forgotten a little show called "Firefly"? How about Arrested Development, Dollhouse, Jericho, or Drive. And thats just to name a few. Fox has the worst track record of under advertising and then changing airing time/day. The also love to force writers/directors to change their shows, often asking for pilot rewrites. I'm sorry FOX put the original pilot to Firefly was much better as was Dollhouse! ************* FOX lacks faith in its new shows. *************** Let the writers do their jobs and let the shows have a chance to gain a viewer base. Heck, Firefly got a movie and look at Arrested Development, Netflix just got the rights to season 4.

So Viewers, really think about it. Every and any network is better to their shows than FOX.
