Promo & Post Mortem Interviews

Amelia and Owen bring their personal problems into the hospital next week. What can you tease?

A lot of the confusion about what Amelia was going through about the pregnancy potential last week reached a climax in this episode. She didn’t even know what was going on. By the end of this episode, she is triggered by a case and then ends up confronting some of what is probably going on with her in that scene with Alex and really verbalizing something that she had been trying to run away from for a long time and ignoring for a long time. Now it’s right in her face, and she doesn’t know what to do with it. She doesn’t want to mess up her relationship with Owen. Next week, she’s being a bit compulsive about… she doesn’t know how to be with Owen. She’s got this big thing she needs to tell him, and she wants to tell him, and she doesn’t know how. She’s kind of just reacting, and he’s reacting right back. Both of their fears of, “I’m not going to have happiness like other people,” are coming out to clash with one another in the next episode. He’s scared of her seeming weirdness with the whole pregnancy thing, and she’s scared of her own seeming weirdness with the pregnancy thing and what his expectations might be.

Speaking of Alex, there's a strong contingent of viewers who see Alex and Meredith as MFEO, to use Shondaland speak. The scene at the end of the episode with them together — in bed — really seemed like that could be a real thing. What's your take on them together romantically?

They're two of the original characters so everybody wants whatever is going to make them the most happy. I don't know if it's end game romantically but they will definitely be in each other's lives forever. But again, just like every other fan in Shondaland, I cannot predict what she could possibly be wanting to spin for the very end. We don't know how long the show will go on! There have been so many potential end games that came and went because the show just keeps going. So who knows!

What Amelia want for Meredith?

I would just want her happy.
