Thanks to Jovan for the heads up.

Amy Poehler and her Paper Kite production company are staying put, signing a new overall deal with Universal Television and the newly formed Alternative Studio for scripted and unscripted projects.

Under the new pact, Paper Kite, which Poehler co-heads by Brooke Posch, has landed the first big commitment of the 2016 network buying season — a pilot production commitment from NBC for scripted comedy The Baby starring Seann William Scott.

Written by Craig DiGregorio, Baby stars Scott as as the youngest male in an organized crime family of all women. Though he’s tough at work, his mother and seven older sisters mercilessly push him around at home. DiGregorio executive produces along with Scott, Poehler, Posch, Dave Becky and Nick Frenkel. 3 Arts Entertainment is producing with Universal TV and Paper Kite.

I hear Poeher fielded interest from other studios before ultimately opting to stay at Universal TV where Paper Kate has been set since its launch.

“Amy has been at the very top of our roster of producers at Universal Television for some time now and we’re so happy to renew and expand our relationship with her for our two studios,” said NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt. “For many years she’s been part of the NBCU family, first with ‘Saturday Night Live’ and then, of course, with the stellar ‘Parks and Recreation,’ so it only seems fitting that she remain with the company. We look forward to a variety of projects from her for NBC and other networks as she extends her creative vision into more producing and directing.”

“Amy is one of the most dynamic and forward-thinking voices in comedy and we’re very excited to work with her on ‘The Baby’ and turn it into a great comedy for NBC,” said Jennifer Salke, President of NBC Entertainment.
