Corey Hawkins will play a key member of the Alexandria community on the upcoming sixth season of the zombie drama.
Meet Heath.

AMC's The Walking Dead has cast Corey Hawkins, the star of NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton, to play a key comic book character, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

In the exclusive first look above, Hawkins — who will recur — makes his debut as Heath, a key member of the Alexandria Safe Zone. The character, an eventual Alexandria supply runner, friend to Glenn and love interest to Denise, is first introduced in issue 69 of Robert Kirkman's comic series.

Hawkins becomes the first confirmed casting addition for season six of the zombie drama. The series left off when Morgan (Lennie James) made his way to Alexandria just on time to see friend Rick (Andrew Lincoln) execute Pete (Corey Brill) after the latter accidentally killed Alexandria leader Deanna's (Tovah Feldshuh) husband Reg (Steve Coulter).

  2. Eh, we'd already known this.

Kinda surprised that Heath isn't a regular right off the bat like Bob and Gabriel were. Unlike the former two, Heath is actually a very prominent character who consistently receives material in the comics.

  3. AMC just announced a Casting Call for epi 6x06...for the characters of Dwight & Sherry also to film epi's 6x14 to 6x16... so it looks like S6 will end with the Saviors...
