The Middle co-star Charlie McDermott has been cast as the lead in Greg Garcia’s CBS comedy pilot Super Clyde, from CBS TV Studios. He will play the title character, a meek, unassuming fast-food worker who finds his calling.
McDermott was in the clear to take another series regular job because the contracts of The Middle cast expire at the end of this season, and no one has been signed for next fall. I hear WBTV had broached the subject of doing another season with the actors but the vast majority had not been approached about entering negotiations, including McDermott.

Rachel Ticotin (Total Recall) and Katie Sarife (Teen Spirit) have been cast as leads opposite Adan Canto in The Curse Of The Fuentes Women, the NBC drama pilot written/executive produced by Silvio Horta. The project, from Warner Bros TV, chronicles what happens when a mysterious stranger, Salvador (Canto), washes up on Miami Beach and breathes new passion into the lives of the Fuentes women – the beautiful but lonely Lola, her ailing mother Esperanza (Ticotin), who is struggling with Alzheimer’s and has a secret magical past, and her troubled teen daughter Soledad (Sarife) whose psychic abilities are awakened by an unexpected pregnancy.

In the untitled project, aka Grandpa, Stamos plays Jimmy, a charismatic longtime bachelor whose life is upended when he discovers he’s a father — and a grandfather. Peck plays the son Jimmy didn’t know he had – a sweet unemployed techie who is himself the proud and surprisingly capable father of a two-year-old daughter, the product of a one-night stand with the sexy Vanessa.

Marcia Gay Harden, currently co-starring as Christian Grey’s mom in Fifty Shades Of Grey, has been cast in CBS pilot Code Black, a medical drama eritten by Intelligence creator Michael Seitzman and directed by David Semel. Based on Ryan McGarry’s feature documentary of the same name, the drama series — like the docu — is set in the busiest and most notorious ER in the nation – LA County Hospital – where the extraordinary staff confronts a broken system in order to protect their ideals and the patients who need them the most.
Harden will play Christa, a former soccer mom whose son died of cancer. She is now a newly minted, talented and dedicated doctor whose experience handling her son’s disease, coupled with her intuition and life experience, makes her see things that often escape her much younger fellow residents.

Pitch Perfect’s Skylar Astin has been cast as one of the two leads in ABC’s untitled NBA buddy comedy pilot, executive produced by Galavant creator Dan Fogelman, Mandalay Sports Media’s Peter Guber & Mike Tollin, and Kapital Entertainment’s Aaron Kaplan. The pilot is being done with the cooperation of the NBA and the Golden State Warriors, which is co-owned by Guber.
Astin will play the translator, Jason, an average-sweet and a little wimpy guy with no athletic prowess who is working as a teaching assistant and living in his parents’ basement when he is recruited by the NBA team. A munchkin among giants in the world of professional basketball, Jason soon discovers that he’s being paid to be a lot more than just a translator. He also must be the new player’s 24/7 guide/best friend/mentor and protector, and he also has to find a way to light a fire under this incredibly tall and talented athlete who seems to lack drive.

The pilot, written by Martin Gero and directed by Mark Pellington, centers on Jane Doe (Alexander), a beautiful woman who finds herself at the center of an investigation after climbing out of a duffel bag in the middle of Times Square in New York City with her memory wiped and no clue as to what the extensive tattoos on her body mean. The FBI begin to follow the road map on her body to reveal a larger conspiracy while bringing her closer to discovering the truth about her identity.

Whoopi Goldberg To Star In ABC Comedy Pilot ‘Delores & Jermaine'; What About ‘The View’?
The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg has signed on as the co-lead opposite Jermaine Fowler in ABC’s multi-camera comedy pilot Delores & Jermaine.
With her on board, the pilot and the potential series will film in New York City, where Goldberg lives and works on another ABC program, daily talk show The View. Goldberg has another year on her View contract, and production on Delores & Jermaine would be scheduled around her duties on The View. Multi-camera sitcoms have less-demanding schedules than single-camera ones, with two other ABC morning talk show hosts, The View‘s Sherri Shepherd and Live!’s Kelly Ripa previously able to juggle filming the talkers and multi-camera sitcoms they toplined.
Written by comedian Fowler based on his life, Delores & Jermaine, an Odd Couple for the new generation, stars Fowler as a millennial with big ideas, but very little drive, who moves in with his estranged grandmother (Goldberg), a strict, football-loving, former D.C. cop who needs his youthful enthusiasm in her life as much as he needs her old-school parenting. Chun wrote the script with Fowler. In addition to starring, Goldberg will executive produce along with her partner Tom Leonardis, Danny Chun, who supervised the script, and 3 Arts’ Michael Rotenberg; Fowler co-executive produces. Joining John Leguizamo in the single-camera comedy project that had been shepherded by the late James Gandolfini are Lenny Venito (The Neighbors) and Sahr Ngaujah (Last Resort. Venito will play Dean, Bobby’s (Leguizamo) boss at the Yellow Cab Garage and Ngaujah is Valentine, a Nigerian cab driver who shares a taxi as well as a love hate relationship with Bobby (Leguizamo) at Yellow Cab.
Also said to be joining the cast are Jennifer Esposito (Crash), Rebecca Creskoff (Hung), F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus), Christopher Nicholas Smith (Enough Said, Paranormal Activity 3).
