Psych - Episode 8.02 - S.E.I.Z.E - Review

The changes from Episode 1 are still effecting everyone.

There is a new chief of police, Harris Trout, Juliet is now lead detective and Lassiter has been demoted to uniform.

Shawn and Gus no longer work at the police station and are now looking for something new.

A new day begins, Trout has some of the officers standing on a surburban street where he is about to raid a house.

Shawn and Gus stop by, and have to stay behind the police barricade. They spot a guy (Patrick) holding a coffee cup and flowers for his anniversary, they convince him to stand up to Trout so he can go to his house on the other side of the barricade, and they can go with him but Trout has the man arrested.
Meanwhile Lassiter sees the suspect trying to escape and catches him.

2 days later Trout is again addressing his officers/public and says an unnamed officer caught the suspect (he does not name Lassiter). Shots are fired from a white van at Trout and Lassiter saves his life.

Shawn now a life coach whose catchphase is S.E.I.Z.E, convinces Lassiter to talk with Trout and stand up for himself, Trout gives Lassiter the job of finding out who tried to kill him.

Lassiter goes home to find out his fiance is pregnant and he is going to be a father.

This has an effect on Lassiter, he becomes scarred to get into dangerous situations where he might get hurt or killed believing he needs to stay alive now for his child.
Lassiter hires Shawn and Gus to help him track down the killer.

Going through a file filled with death threats made against Trout, Shawn sees a letter sent every year on the same date to Trout, and has one of his physic visions, all 3 of them follow the lead which finds them at Trouts mother.
Lassiter arrests her and tells Trout he has her in an interigation cell, where both mother and son argue.

Meanwhile Juliet arrives to say that the white van killer has tried to kill someone else so the mother is innocent.
They go to the hospital to interview the new victim, Vance the coffee house guy, get no new information but Shawn sees Lassiter talking with a Doctor.

Trout tells Lassiter to take the personal items back to Vance, and when he arrives he sees the white van parked in the car park. He is scarred to check out the van and calls Shawn and Gus for help.
When they arrive, Shawn and Gus go inside to investigate and Lassiter stays with van, the killer comes out but Lassiter gets scarred and lets the killer escape, Vance has been murdered.

Back at the station, Trout takes Lassiter;s notepad and pens away. Shawn overhears him talking with his fiance saying it will be 6-8 weeks at most and thinks Lassiter is dying.

The white van is traced to Tony who works at the fishery.
When they arrive Shawn sees part of Tony's Glasses and has a physic vision, and says the need to search a large barrel where the find Tony's body.

While leaving Shawn sees a sign that was on the anniversay guys clothes and realises he was holding a cup of coffee from Vances place.

They go back to the original raid location and visit the Patrick's wife who confirms he had problems with Vance and had told her about being arrested on his anniversay but she did not belive him leading him to want revenge on Trout (who had had him arrested), the wife says something about not wanting to be married to someone who was scarred and Lassiter relialises what he has been doing.

Lassiter then sees the guy going into the house from the raid and leaves without telling anyone.

When he gets to the house he finds Patrick but still scarred drops his gun and Patrick looks around at him with his gun on the counter beside him, its now a standoff.
Lassiter tries to get the guy to give himself up says he is going to be a father, but Patrick says he will take him away from his child by killing him, this finally gives Lassiter his 'mojo 'back and says he is Carlton 'Danger' Lassiter and he is the best and in a very neat move gets his gun and points it at Patrick.

Meanwhile Juliet, Shawn and Gus overhear and congratulate him on the baby.

Trout says well done, but make him his driver rather than head detective again.

Lassiter and Henry have a talk about being fathers, Henry says the thing he has learned is there is always another bad guy to catch but not time spent with his child, and Lassiter says thanks and goes to leave and gives him a ticket saying he has a quota.
