This is Misfits at it’s very best, the laugh out loud funny filthy, shocking and chilling moments are balanced out perfectly in the second outing of series 5. This is a Rudy episode and Joseph Gilgun is outstanding, really showing us what a versatile performer he can be as both of his characters are becoming more and more distanced from each other. Rudy One and Jess find themselves thrown together as they investigate his father, who the gang discover is having a violent affair with a strange woman on the estate.
Rudy Two, however, is still secretly meeting with the Powers Support Group, and whilst seemingly oblivious to the growing feelings between his alter ego and Jess he is making friends of his own. Tim the gamehead confides in him that he is concerned about his own powers, and a mysterious new member to the group has Rudy believing that the jumper Maggie knitted him really does hold the secrets to the gang’s future. I can’t help feeling that there will be a terrible twist in store for our band of superheroes though.
Elsewhere, Abbey is sniffing out her past, thankfully ignoring Finn and Alex’s rather creepy, though well meaning, advice. Although things do look as if they are going well in her hunt for her identity I have a feeling that it is all a big set up for what’s in store next week...be warned, the scary is coming! And talking of scary, the Probation Officer is starting to show signs that he is becoming a little obsessed with one of the gang and isn't above intimidating them when they are vulnerable.
Tune in next Wednesday at 10pm on E4 to see the episode, until then here’s a few teasers to keep you going.
