Scene Of The Week - August 18, 2013 - *POLL*

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great scenes that we've seen recently.

BREAKING BAD, "Blood Money", August 11, 2013, Actors: Bryan Cranston, Dean Norris
The Scene: Confrontation between Walt and Hank
Alex Zhora:
Surprising and thrilling scene. It's also all about character.

DEXTER, "Dress Code", August 11, 2013, Actors: Yvonne Strahovski, Michael C. Hall
The Scene: Hannah and Dexter talk in the old flower shed
Darth Locke:
Love this scene because it proves Hannah's sentimentality and reminds us of the future that Dexter onced envisioned with her there. In a lot of ways Dexter finding her there feels like fate, but like the decay and ruin of the former greenhouse, does the future no longer look to bode well for them.
Also picked by DarkUFO and Alex Zhora

FUTURAMA, "Game of Tones", August 14, 2013
The Scene: Fry says goodbye to his mom
Pablozky21:
Every now and then Futurama deals with Fry's past, and every time it tends to be moving and heartbreaking and this scene just gets there, allowing us to subtly know the grief of Fry's mom and Fry's as well. Even though there is a lot of crazyness involved, goofy sci-fi parodies and countless jokes about the show absurdity, Futurama shows its greatness when it comes to emotional impact, and Fry has always been in the center of that; after all the show is about a man who lost his life and has to start a new one, but once you get a glimpse at what you lost, you can't help but missing some things.

GRACELAND, "Smoke Alarm", August 15, 2013, Actors: Aaron Tveit, Pedro Pascal
The Scene: Mike confronts Juan about his investigation
Justyna Kubica:
At first, I was thinking about choosing a different scene from the episode, the one where Mike tells Paige the truth, because it was obviously an important moment and we got to see a different, quite vulnerable, lost and desperate side of Mike. But Paige's reaction... well, it wasn't what I expected and the moment ended really badly, so I quickly changed my mind. I decided to pick the part where Mike finally starts asking Juan some vital questions and gets to learn his motives. The story about the other house that burnt took me by surprise and also helped not only learn more about Juan, but most importantly, revealed something about Briggs' past. It was a very sad story, but it made some of his actions easier to understand, even told from somebody else's perspective. I also like how Mike believed Briggs and fought for him. Maybe there's actually a chance for these two to be friends at some point in the future.

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, "The Mirror Has Three Faces", August 13, 2013, Actors: Shay Mitchell, Andrea Parker
The Scene: Emily tells Mrs. DiLaurentis she's gay
Jamie Coudeville:
I don't know why but I really liked this scene. It showed how far Emily has come, how much more confident she is.

RIZZOLI AND ISLES, "Cold As Ice", August 13, 2013, Actors: Sasha Alexander, Emilee Wallace
The Scene: Maura and Cailin finally come to an agreement
Jamie Coudeville:
Maura finally figures out how to set a balance with the help of Jane. I like seeing Maura as a big sister, mostly because it's completely new to her.

SIBERIA, "Out of the Frying Pan", August 12, 2013
The Scene: The contestants confront Esther about her deception (picked by DarkUFO)

TEEN WOLF, "Alpha Pact", August 12, 2013, Actors: Dylan O'Brien, Crystal Reed, Tyler Posey, Tyler Hoechlin
The Scenes: The Sacrifice & The elevator scene
Justyna Kubica:
There were exactly three amazing scenes this week on Teen Wolf and it seems almost impossible to choose just one. But I decided to give my honorable mentions to the two of them (brilliantly acted scene where Stiles has a panic attack and the scene where we learn what happened to Claudia Stilinski) and go with the one that had the most powerful impact on me and the greatest meaning: the Sacrifice. Scott, Stiles and Allison's decision to literally give their lives for their parents, with no guarantees that they're gonna come back, was one of the most heroic and admirable things I've seen on the show. That's what love is and what the sacrifice truly means. And I have to say it's quite amazing stuff to see on TV these days. The Sci-Fi show, where the parents' characters are really important, loved by their kids AND the fans, the ones that make you root for them and all. Those are some amazingly portrayed family relationships on this show and they are one of the things I love the most about it. And this scene is extremely emotional, beautifully filmed and just wonderfully acted by everyone. And I haven't even mentioned it also takes place in Derek's home where he makes his own sacrifice to save his little sister. Oh, these people! It's hard not to adore them all. Kudos to the cast and crew for this generally awesome episode!
Jamie Coudeville: Allison, Scott & Stiles in the tubs - I thought this was beautifully filmed, also I kinda yelled at my screen for ending the episode there.
Klutzy Girl: The elevator scene between Stiles and Derek. I think they're slowly becoming friends and they've come a long way since season one.

THE BRIDGE, "ID", August 14, 2013, Actor: Diane Kruger
The Scene: Sonya tries to save the girl in the parking lot (picked by DarkUFO)

THE NEWSROOM, "News Night with Will McAvoy", August 11, 2013, Actors: Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer
The Scene: Will freezes on air after telling MacKenzie about his dad's death
Klutzy Girl:
Will freezes on air after learning of his dad's death and says "I guess it's just us now". That was a really sad scene and I loved it.
Justyna Kubica: I had this bad feeling that Will's dad is gonna die during his show, but the moment he said it, it was even worse than I imagined. Poor Will. I felt so sorry for him, he was just sitting there, asking about everyone else, hiding his pain. I mean, we know his father wasn't the greatest person, but it was still his dad, it still hurt. And to act like nothing happened must have been awful. And he actually had to go on air and keep going. So that look on his face at the end and the moment he freezed felt very meaningful to me. And it was a really impressive work by Jeff Daniels.

TRUE BLOOD, "Life Matters", August 11, 2013, Actors: Anna Paquin, Todd Lowe, Carrie Preston, Sam Trammell
The Scenes: Sookie's eulogy/flashback & Terry meets Sam in the flashback
Kelly Ann:
Sookie's eulogy/flashback - I was just so proud of her for telling the town what she really is. I also loved the flashback scene she had of herself, Arlene and Terry at the pass of Merlotte's. I loved that she told Arlene that Terry loved her from the moment she walked into his life.
Darth Locke: Terry meets Sam/catfish fishing flashback. Terry's goodness shines through as he explains that every life matters...

UNDER THE DOME, "Thicker Than Water", August 12, 2013, Actors: Dean Norris, Alexander Koch, Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Britt Robertson, Mackenzie Lintz
The Scenes: Angie and Norrie chuck snow globes at the dome & Barbie and Julia talk at the end & Junior points a gun at his father's head
Babar Suhail:
Angie and Norrie chuck snow globes at the dome to vent their anger.
Klutzy Girl: Barbie and Julia ask each other about their day at the end of the episode. I thought that was cute.
Daniel van der Veer: Junior points a gun at his father's head as Big Jim tells his son the truth. The entire episode was building towards this scene. Although it was predictable that Junior would not shoot his father (and Ollie instead), the emotions from both actors felt real and made for an intense and emotional scene.
