-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS remained the network to beat on Thursday with a first-place overnight finish in each of the six half-hours. Red-hot The Big Bang Theory opened with an 11.0 rating/17 share (+11 percent from one year earlier), followed by relocated Two and a Half Men (9.6/15: +39 percent from year-ago occupant Rules of Engagement), sophomore Person of Interest (9.6/15) and recent entry Elementary (7.3/13), which has snagged the coveted Super Bowl XLVII lead-out spot on Sunday, February 3, 2013. The overall 30 percent year-to-year growth for CBS is a result of encore telecasts of Person of Interest and The Mentalist airing on the year-ago evening. And the retention for Elementary out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of Person of Interest last night (9.5/15) was an acceptable (albeit non-spectacular) 77 percent.

Over at NBC, an 8-9 p.m. edition of The Voice performed admirably opposite the CBS sitcoms with a second-place 6.6/10. Comparably, that was 164 percent above year-ago occupants Community and Parks and Recreation (each with a 2.5/ 4 on 11/10/11). And it lifted lead-out The Office to a season-high 3.8/ 6 (#3t) in the 9 p.m. half-hour. Comparably, The Office built by 19 percent from its most recent original telecast (3.2/ 5 on October 25).

Parks and Recreation on NBC, unfortunately, slid to a 2.6/ 4 at 9:30 p.m. (#4), while older-skewing lead-out Rock Center With Brian Williams finished a distant third in the 10 p.m. hour with a 3.1/ 5. Parks and Recreation, like 30 Rock and The Office, should also be ending this spring.

Elsewhere, freshman ABC drama Last Resort continues to slowly lose steam with a series-low 4.2/ 7 in the overnights from 8-9 p.m. But, comparably, this was still 24 percent above failed year-ago occupant Charlie’s Angels (3.4/ 5 on 11/10/11). Six-week overnight track for Last Resort: 6.5/11 – 5.5/ 9 – 4.7/ 8 – 4.8/ 8 – 4.4/ 7 – 4.2/ 7). Next on the alphabet net was veteran Grey’s Anatomy at a second-place 6.8/11 at 9 p.m. (-18 percent from the 8.2/13 on 11/10/11), followed by sophomore Scandal, also from Shonda Rhimes, at a second place 4.6/ 8 at 10 p.m. Comparably, Scandal dropped by 19 percent from Private Practice on the year-ago evening (5.7/10 on 11/10/11).

On Fox, The X Factor at 8 p.m. finished third in the 8 p.m. hour with a 4.7/ 8 -- 29 percent below competing The Voice on NBC. And that led into a third-place 3.7/ 6 for diluted Glee at 9 p.m., which should be officially graduating this spring.

The CW capped off the evening with healthy The Vampire Diaries (#5: 2.3/ 4 at 8 p.m.), which was on par from one year earlier, followed by week five of Beauty and the Beast at a not so beautiful 1.3/ 2 at 9 p.m. Comparably, Beauty and the Beast was 19 percent below shortlived year-ago occupant The Secret Circle (1.6/ 3 on 11/10/11), with retention out of the 8:30 p.m. portion of The Vampire Diaries (2.2/ 3) of 59 percent. Five-week overnight track for Beauty and the Beast: 2.4/ 4 – 1.5/ 2 – 1.5/ 2 – 1.3/ 2 – 1.3/ 2.
