The 2012 STV Favourite TV Series Competition - The Winner Confirmed & Final Words

Hey folks,

I apologise that it took a couple of days to finish off the competition with the confirmation of the winner. That being said, I'd like to thank everybody who voted at any stage of the competition; you all made it a great success and a fun month during the summer hiatus.

Turning our attention to the competition winner itself, it gives me great pleasure to announce that the third STV TV Series Competition was won by Castle, beating Once Upon A Time with 54.57% of the vote. Once Upon A Time had an impressive run, but never looked like it could push past 45% and really give Castle fans something to worry about.

The Winner Announced

1. Castle
2. Once Upon A Time
3. NCIS
4. Game of Thrones
5. Supernatural
6. Fringe
7. LOST
8. The Mentalist
9. Friends
10. Hawaii 5-0

Also interestingly was that more people turned up to vote on Sunday than Monday, as usually weekdays are busier in the polls, but it seems that fans managed to use their initial excitement to drum up our busiest weekend day ever. I have opened up some of the polls so you can go back through the posts and see the amount of votes cast in each poll. Write in the comments below if there is any I haven't opened that you specifically were interested in :) You can find all the previous posts/polls for the competition HERE

The complete results for all three years of the competition are now available for you to see below. Any shows surprise you with their placings over the three years? Which shows should be doing better?

As a result of the fact that the TV Series Competition is finishing just a few short weeks before the summer hiatus ends and the shows begin I am going to postpone the Character Competition. It's not gone for good, but I'm hoping to run the competition during the Winter Hiatus. That way we will have something to keep us going during both TV-less times of the year.

TV is a great friend. It helps us enjoy new worlds, and lets us get to know characters we admire, stand beside, love as well as hate. It also gives you the chance to get to know people who share your love and your passion. That is one of the main reasons I love STV; it's a website which is run for the fans by the fans

I know I speak on behalf of everyone who works day in day out at STV in saying thank you.

Keep coming back and seeing what news there is from your favourite shows. I assure you everything TV related is available to find here.

On a personal level, I'd like to say thank you for playing. It means a lot for you all to show up on a daily basis. I can say it has been a pleasure to be host of the show again. It takes a lot of time, effort and brain power to create/monitor and run the competition, and the fact that thousands of people come and vote, join in friendly debates and get passionate about their shows always makes it worth it. I know that we had a big hiatus to the competition in Round Two but unfortunately sometimes these things can't be helped. I assure you that next year I do not intend on breaking in half the flow of the competition so much.

Can Castle make it two in a row? Can the Winchesters extract revenge and claim its third title? Can Once Upon A Time go one step further? Or will something entirely new surprise us all?

That's a story for another year. I'll see you there...
