-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS dominated this eighth Thursday of the current season in the overnights, beating second-place ABC by a noticeable 33 percent. Third overall was Fox, which is on the map thanks to Bones, followed by NBC and The CW.

Successfully relocated The Big Bang Theory on CBS remains a standout, with a very dominant 8.9 rating/14 share at 8 p.m. Personally speaking, the producers need to make the outstanding Mayim Bialik as Amy Farrah Fowler a series regular. Although lead-out $#*! My Dad Says (6.4/10) also won the 8:30 p.m. half-hour, retention out of The Big Bang Theory was only 72 percent and this was its second-lowest rated performance to-date. Here is the eight-week overnight track for $#*! My Dad Says:

$#*! My Dad Says (CBS)
9/23/10: 7.7/12
9/20/10: 6.7/11
10/07/10: 6.3/10
10/14/10: 6.6/10
10/21/10: 7.0/11
10/28/10: 6.8/11
11/04/10: 7.0/11
11/11/10: 6.4/10

Next on CBS was veteran CSI at a second-place 8.5/13 at 9 p.m., which will likely finish third among adults 18-49 behind Grey’s Anatomy and The Office, followed by The Mentalist at a dominant 9.0/15 at 10 p.m. Although The Mentalist was the highest rated show of the evening in the overnights, competing Private Practice on ABC (#2: 6.8/11) is likely to win the time period among adults 18-49. Compared to one year earlier (CSI: 10.5/17, The Mentalist: 10.3/18 on Nov. 12, 2009), CSI and The Mentalist dipped by 19 percent and 13 percent, respectively, in the overnights.

ABC’s weak Thursday link, of course, is the 8 p.m. hour, with another repeat installment of Grey’s Anatomy at a fourth-place 3.2/ 5. The original airing of Grey’s Anatomy finished first at 9 p.m., with an 8.9/14 (six percent above one year earlier), followed by aforementioned Private Practice at a second-place 6.8/11 at 10 p.m. Since Private Practice is poised for demo victory, consider its overnight delivery worthy of “honorable mention.”

Next was Fox care of underrated Bones (#2: 5.9/ 9), which does not get the attention it deserves, followed by lackluster Fringe at a fourth-place 3.2/ 5 in the overnights at 9 p.m. Even when the DVR usage is factored in, Fringe is still a “loser” from a ratings perspective.

Over at NBC, there was nothing unusual to report with its line-up of sophomore Community (#3: 3.2/ 5), relocated 30 Rock (#3: 3.8/ 6), demo-friendly The Office (#3: 4.9/ 7), recent entry Outsourced (#3: 3.5/ 5) and failing The Apprentice (#3: 3.0/ 5), which is not all that endearing seeing already out of work people being fired. The Office, as always, will resonate among adults 18-49, but lead-out Outsourced will likely lose too much of the demo to get off the loser’s list. Here is the eight-week overnight track for Outsourced:

Outsourced (NBC)
9/23/10: 5.0/ 8
9/20/10: 4.1/ 6
10/07/10: 3.8/ 6
10/14/10: 3.8/ 6
10/21/10: 3.5/ 5
10/28/10: 3.9/ 6
11/04/10: 3.7/ 6
11/11/10: 3.5/ 5

Although CW favorite The Vampire Diaries remained just that at a 2.6/ 4 at 8 p.m. (#5), freshman Nikita (#5: 1.6/ 2) dipped by 38 percent at 9 p.m.
