Well, “that was unexpected” as Simon said. A lot to consume, chew on and digest. Let’s get going!

Yes, the Mamas and the Papas sang that song and seems appropriate given the Mother and Father issues we saw in this last episode. From the Blake Sterling’s daddy Edward to revelation of Sophia as Thomas’ (and who else, eh?) mother.

Dirty Deeds, Done Dirt Cheap!

What a painful experience, watching a man in love being confronted by the reality of his significant other. Heartbreaking. That experience certainly informs Sterling’s observed behavior prior to episode 7. An interesting note, he and Laura met in Barcelona. This has been the site of several Basque separatists events. So what? You ask dear reader. More on that in a bit.

Another interesting tidbit, the reference to Buenos Aires. So what? You ask again. Well, think about it and there will be more about this soon, I promise. The rejection of him by Laura must have been devastating. Upon the loss of his love by his father’s hand, there was nothing for him except his career.

Fun facts

Sventlana, Laura’s true name, means “light.” So it seems that Blake lost the light of his life, figuratively and literally speaking.

A file called the “oxford file” was lifted from Blake’s computer. Oxford University home to buddies Tolkein and CS Lewis. Lewis wrote an obscure book series, the Chronicles of Narnia. The name of the pub they hung out to discuss middle earth and Narnia, the Eagle and the Child. Check out the sign below. Brings to mind abduction of Samantha. Aaron means enlightened, exalted, mountain of strength. I hope we find out more about this new character going forward. Aaron was the brother of Moses. He was the spokesman and also performed miracles such as the staff turning into a snake and consuming the Pharaoh’s men’s snakes.

Leila again played the part of a princess in distress telling Peter “you are my only hope.” Where is Obi Wan-Kenobi when you need him.

Thomas mentions dark chocolate; interesting in a few ways. These benefits are from flavonoids, which act as antioxidants. Antioxidants protect the body from aging caused by free radicals, which can cause damage that leads to heart disease. Dark chocolate contains a large number of antioxidants (nearly 8 times the number found in strawberries). Flavonoids also help relax blood pressure through the production of nitric oxide, and balance certain hormones in the body.

Some Orchids are more equal than others!

Orchids showed up in intresting places. Dempsey has his special “genetically engineered” one to bloom more often than normal. Also, they were featured in Thomas’ place. Are Dempsey and Thomas in cahoots?
Orchids have a deep and rich history as symbols. For the Greeks it represents love, luxury, beauty and strength. In ancient Greece, orchids were associated with virility. In fact, Greek women believed that if the father of their unborn child ate large, new orchid tubers, the baby would be a boy. If the mother ate small orchid tubers, she would give birth to a girl. The ancient Chinese interpreted the orchid flower meaning as a symbol for many children.
There was a movie called Wild Orchid. Buenos Aires was a location in this movie. That is fun but not where I am going with that location. Yeah, that is a tease.

More improbabilities show up. Sean can crack codes, crazy lady has a friend with equipment needed, and the sudden disappearance of crazy lady and her pal after the apartment explodes.

Now, the big improbably – Agent Murphy traped in a trunk without a release. Those have been mandated since 2002. This reinforces my theory that what we see is a construct of “Sean.” See my write-up here.

Time for a gathering quest, nukes are so readily available. Need to open portal to go home. Similar to objective of a race in World of Warcraft, a game which Sean was addicted to according to his bio. He may have been a developer of that particular expansion.

Peter flat out tells Sean “the game is rigged. You cannot win.”

Some have speculated that the trader in the Midwest is Warren Buffet. However, my thought is that it is Sean’s cell phone tracing buddy that we “legit” to become stock trader using algorithym Sean wrote. Funny, Thomas uses mad math skills to beat the market too. Huh.

What compels everyone (the EBEs for lack of a better term) to follow Sophia completely. I don’t recall where, but someone speculated she is the mother of all. Interesting.

It’s all fun and games until someone ages too fast!

The final scene reminds me of the great movie, Village of the Damned. This was based on the novel The Midwich Cuckoos by John Wyndham. This was not due to plot similarities but due to creepy kids. Rent the movie if you have not seen it.

As I wrote previously, Dempsey apparently wants to not age or cure himself some how. It is implied he is experimenting on kids and has a private army. Perhaps he needs to refine selection process. Genetic research, hmmm.

Eugenics anyone?

Yes, the thing associated with Nazi’s and their horrific experiments. The gist is to select desired genetic traits and eliminate undesired. It is not my intention to get into a bio-ethics discussion on this matter. Just connecting the dots. Nazi’s are known to have fled to Buenos Aires. Additionally the Basques were part of the undesirables targeted for elimination.
