The 2010 Favourite Character Ever Cup Competition - Predict the Winners and Win a Prize

The time has come for people to make their predictions for the upcoming Character Cup. We have selected our final 64 characters and they have been seeded as best I can and then randomly drawn against one another.

We now have the matches and draws up and onto the system which is through the site http://www.dawgsled.com/darkufo , which is a "home grown site" that Dark has used previously in his LOST site and we have drawn a (mostly)random bracket of the top 64 shows you have helped to select over the past week. (when you have registered and are on the main home screen, under current contests, select 2010 SpoilerTV Character Cup)
Your job will be to go to this site and predict the entire tournament--from the first match through the championship final. You'll have until August 31st at 7:00 PM Eastern Time (currently, but this may be shortened) to get this done. Then the bracket will "lock", the site will switch over to "scoring and tracking" mode, and the actual matches will begin on spoilertv.com.
This gives everyone two weeks to select their results right the way through to the final.
After every match, the scoreboard on the bracket site will be updated. For every matchup that you correctly forecast the winner for, you'll be awarded points. Throughout the tournament, you'll be able to see where you stand against everyone else in the entire world.
Remember: When you’re filling out your bracket, choose the winning episode based on who you THINK will win, which will sometimes be different than the episode that you WANT to win. For the Final you also need to enter in the % amount that each episode will get in case of a tie.
We will have a very good prize in store for the winner, currently we are aiming for an Amazon Voucher that should buy you a TV box-set of your choice, or to use on whatever you fancy.
The way the competition is working is that in Round One each of the 4 brackets have 8 male and 8 female characters, and they have been drawn male vs. male, and female vs. female and then the two sexes meet from round 2 onwards. I did this to try and give both sexes a chance to gather support, and try to make it as fair and also varied as possible, to make for a more interesting competition.
I will now confirm that Elizabeth Mitchell has two entries in the competition, from my knowledge at the moment she is the only actor or actress to achieve this, so hats off to her.
Also, I had failed to notice that after the playoffs for the final places, Nathan Fillion has achieved the double characters award, for his roles in Castle & Firefly. Good work from him too!
Also the characters that have missed out due to the rule of the competition stating that a show may only have 3 male and 3 female characters, are all from LOST and are:
James "Sawyer" Ford, who recieved 59 nominations and was the 6th most nominated male character.
Desmond Hume, who recieved 23 nominations and was the 22nd most nominated male character.
Also, Claire Littleton and Richard Alpert were both excluded from the final places playoff due to the same ruling.
A major last minute change is that due to my lack of knowledge of NCIS, and a small drop in concentration as I was compiling results, I failed to notice that Tony DiNozzo and Anthony DiNozzo were the same person and therefore were listed separately against Jack Shephard and Jack Bauer in Round 1. Therefore one has been replaced with River Tam (I understand she is a female character, but she was the most nominated and voted for in the polls that missed the cut, and due to her being the 65th placed character, at this late stage she enters the competition against Jack Bauer in Round One.
A breakdown of the show nominations are as follows:
LOST 6 (3 male/3 female)
House 4 (2 male/2 female)
Friends 3 (1 male/2 female)
Fringe 3 (2 male/1 female)
Glee 3 (1 male/2 female)
Grey's Anatomy 3 (1 male/2 female)
NCIS 4 (2 male/2 female)* Dropped from 5 to 4 due to reason explained above
Smallville 3 (1 male/2 female)
Supernatural 3 (3 male)
Bones 2 (1 male/1 female)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer 2 (1 male/1 female)
Burn Notice 2 (1 male/1 female)
Castle 2 (1 male/1 female)
Chuck 2 (1 male/1 female)
Dexter 2 (1 male/1 female)
Firefly 2 (1 male/1 female)* Has risen from 1 to 2 due to reason explained above
Gossip Girl 2 (1 male/1 female)
The Vampire Diaries 2 (1 male/1 female)
The X-Files 2 (1 male/1 female)
True Blood 2 (1 male/1 female)
'24' 1 (1 male)
30 Rock 1 (1 female)
Alias 1 (1 female)
Doctor Who 1 (1 male)
Gilmore Girls 1 (1 female)
How I Met Your Mother 1 (1 male)

Finally, a big thanks to Matt for setting up the bracket, and in his email he seems delighted River Tam has made the final 64, so he gets some rewards for his efforts. Thanks to Dark as always for allowing the competition.
And have fun, don't take it too seriously, but also make sure your favourite wins.
Good Luck
Adam
