ABC's reboot of The Muppets TV show, which premiered in the U.S. Sept. 22, is going global. And fast.
Disney Media Distribution on Monday confirmed that the new series has been snatched up by broadcasters in 122 territories worldwide, in countries ranging from the U.K. and Italy, to China, South Africa, the Middle East and Australia.
“The international sales are a testament to the appeal of these lovable characters and taps into the TV nostalgia of our youth, while the fantastic writers and production team bring a very modern take to the series,” said Ben Pyne, President, Global Distribution, Disney Media Networks in a statement.
