The Legend Of Zelda - TV series adaptation goes to pilot stage at Amazon *Updated*

Update: 24th June It appears that Season Zero got confused.

As some of you have mentionned in the comments, there was a bit of confusion about the “Zelda” project for Amazon. Turns out it’s not “Legend Of Zelda” but “Zelda” (working title “Z”), about novelist Zelda Fitzgerald, played by Christina Ricci. Sorry for the false alarm

Thank to Mason and Darkness for the heads up.
Once rumored in development for Netflix, Nintendo’s “Legend Of Zelda” live action TV series is still alive but with another streaming platform attached: Amazon.

Aiming to be a “Game of Thrones” for a family audience” as reported by The Wall Street Journal at the time of the project’s announcement, epic Zelda would be the perfect bridge between the ambitious and provocative dramas & dramedies Amazon starts delivering (as Transparent or The Man in the High Castle) and their kids’ programming offer including both animated and live action series.

  1. Oooh I'm interested. I love the games!

  2. Wow. Did I make up that Nintendo dismissed claims of a Zelda TV series in my mind?? I could've sworn I read something like that.
Anyways, I'll keep an eye out for this, but won't get my hopes up too much. This would need too big a budget to make it look good.

there are other fantasy drama that could be used as inspiration for this potential tv show

  7. So it's happening after all...Wonder what it will be like.

  8. Omgggg yes but can amazon afford this? And won't it take them forever to make.

  9. Because I don't think it will work as a TV series, and I say this as a fan. The series is famous for its innovative gameplay ideas, not stories or characters. This is clearly the case of a series being made based purely on brand awareness and little else.

  10. Can amazon afford it? Yes, these guys have money gallore. not only do they have the money to produce their own products but idiotic producers (like me) actually flock to sell their content to them

  11. Fair enough. That's the reason I'm skeptical too. But it's bound to be unique in our TV landscape for sure. So, I'll give it a try.

  12. I get why they want to capitalize on Game of Thrones success, but seriously?!?

The traits that make GOT unique and unlike almost every other Fantasy show on TV are the same traits that will be missing from this new Zelda series!

Now had they said it would be like Legend of the Seeker I would have gone with it! XD

  13. Well hopefully they spend good money on it and not go cheap. Some of there other pilots like zombieland and the after looked cheap.

  14. Less Winter is coming... More Frosty is coming.

  15. They don't mention any kind of source. Can this site be trusted at all?

  16. Yeah, but Zelda is much much bigger IP than aSoIaF and Legend of Seeker ever where before their TV shows. And also, Zelda like fantasy is also severely lacking in US TV landscape.

  17. Yeah. It's strange that no one else has picked this up yet.

    On one hand
    YAY

    On the other hand
    Ocarina of Time or nothing.

...Also please tell me we could get a Nintendo TV/Streaming Universe out of this. A Metroid show done right would crap on everything Syfy has done these past few years.

  20. Oh my god, this could either be amazing or absolutely terrible. I have such fond memories of playing Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask on the N64! Damn I'm old. I sincerely hope they don't make a mockery of such a classic series!

  21. Which one are they going for? Twilight Princess? Majora's Mask? Ocarina of Time? God please not Skyward.

  22. yet have you seen The Man in The High Castle?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah but that doesn't require to much costs unlike zelda.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Nope, I definitely remember that, too. Turns out, they just didn't want to blow their wad too early.

  25. Here's why this hasn't spread like wildfire, it has Nothing to do with Nintendo's Zelda. Its based on the life of Zelda Fitzgerald.
