  1. Was hoping for 0.4 for Dark Matter but that was best case scenario, I'm happy with the 0.3 :)

  2. 0.2 for Defiance, wow. And glad that Dark Matter at least rose from its lead-in

  3. I wasn't expecting a 0.2 for Defiance but thinking about it now so many people dropped it during S2 that it's not that surprising.

  4. Goo Dark Matter :-):-)

  5. Maybe 2-hour premiere was a mistake?

Sark matter's premiere was the worst premiere for syfy in many years. Even Ascension started better

  7. You're certainly in the minority with that opinion, maybe space operas aren't your thing?

  8. He did it about the ratings, i guess!

  9. It was a pretty decent premiere for a friday with no good lead-in, in the start of summer. It levels with 12 Monkeys, so, I think it's good!

  10. Defiance was the lead-in

  11. Oh I thought he meant the quality of it.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I meant a good one, I mean, it rose from Defiance.

  13. What were the demo ratings for those premieres though? Total viewers doesn't matter.

  14. I didn't know you meant ratings, but ratings wise, given SyFy's current state and it being on a Friday the highest they could hope for was 0.4. It's pointless comparing it to years ago or other days of the week.

  15. Ascension - 0.5 (On a Monday)
    12 Monkeys - 0.4 (On a Friday)

so they started better, And let's not go back in BSG or SGA

  18. With Syfy, the bigger issue here is that Fridays is a terrible day for their scripted shows. The concepts itself is trying to pull 18 to 49, and that audience is not going to watch TV on that night. Thus, you have Defiance which did OK in viewership (1.1 is viable for Syfy) but a 0.2 in the demos. It skewed old because of the night.

Dark Matter is doomed. It's new and there isn't going to be any play at those ratings.

  19. Syfy is produced by syfy and Space, together, right? Maybe Canada helps.

  20. That saddens me. I really enjoyed the premiere, and I love this type of show. It's just what I've been waiting for.
Hopefully we get a miracle :/

  21. Yh Ascension wasn't on Friday and 12 Monkeys only did 0.4 for the premiere. Back when BSG and SGA were airing a 0.6/0.7 was considered bad for SyFy so comparing anything to back then is silly.

  22. 12 Monkeys got renewed with 0.2's and it's not like it's a case of Defiance or Dark Matter getting renewed, both could make it. Realistically if SyFy were expecting any better then they need new execs. Plus with them trying rebuild SyFyFridays I don't think they're willing to give up that easily, they know by now it's going to take time.

  23. Olympus premiered with 894,000 viewers and a 0.16 in the 18-49 on Syfy.

  24. Expensive show(Defiance) vs cheap Canadian show(That Syfy have a distro deal on). Yeah it'll be a hard choice for Syfy ;)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Lol I completely forgot about Olympus, especially awkward since it's still airing :P

    ReplyDelete
  26. Syfy are in such a poor state that I'm worried for Dominion too, I think the ratings for that will be sub 1 million when it returns.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Viewers don't matter though. Dominion is still on Thursdays that should help it a little bit.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I remember 12 Monkeys getting reviewed on most sites at the time. Dark Matter on the other hand had no buzz. It wasn't even reviewed on AV club. If it's cheap it might get renewed though.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Why is Orange is the New Black here?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Because it aired on Friday.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks, yesterday I was on my phone though, I dropped it pretty hard and it was barely functional and just getting to the main articles and comments is difficult enough, haha. :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. But it doesn't have ratings...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well it's your opinion but I really enjoyed the premiere.
