  1. I want to know what the Marvel secret project is with John Ridley. I don't have faith in ABC so it probably doesn't matter.
My guess is Fantastic Four or Illuminati. If they're going for a team theme.

  4. Marvel doesn't have the rights to the Fantastic 4.

  5. F4 is a Marvel comic. How do they not have rights?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Because Marvel Comics sold the movie rights to FOX.

  8. Thank you, I was drawing blanks.

  9. I have no idea what it could be, one suggestion I saw was Cloak and Dagger which would be awesome, I've loved what I've seen of them in the comics.

  11. - Happyish went into an unexpected direction in the pilot but I'm still really looking forward to the rest of the episodes.
    - Last Man on Earth is focusing too much on the romcom stuff. I'd like to see more about them living in a post-apocalyptic world.
    - I had completely forgot about the time job on Masters of Sex. I hope she isn't put into the box labeled "Unbearable Teenage Daughter".

  12. This'll sound stupid, but are tv rights and movie rights ever separate, or is it treated as any adaptation?

    ReplyDelete
  13. It's not stupid at all, I don't know the answer to that question myself.

  14. It's not stupid, I'm googling it now and all I can see is Marvel and Fox are in dispute with the comics even though Fox owns screen rights for the movie.
I've read that movie/comic/TV rights are very different things but anything owned by Fox/Sony cannot be used for Marvel.
Marvel wants their movie rights back, Fox is not giving in. So Marvel stopped making F4 comics and will not promote or sell F4 merchandise. The F4 characters can be used in other comics/stories. Marvel says it cancelled due to poor sales.
It's a big mess that didn't have to be if Marvel hadn't let Fox use the F4 brand to begin with.

  15. Simple answer, yes. It depends on studio and whether they will work together.

  16. Re Marvel Secret Project: So is this "secret project with John Ridley the same "secret project" as the ABC spin-off or a completely different project? Cause if it's the same project then I'm guessing Bobbi is getting her own show... or Skye decides to leave both the Inhumans and SHIELD behind her and figure herself out becoming Quake...
If it is a different show, I'm guessing it'll be another Netflix venture (which I actually think will be better fitted for John Ridley's style... maybe Electra, since she got a shout out on Daredevil? Or maybe Blade? Didn't I read that they recently reclaimed the rights to that title and were looking into re-introducing the character?)

Re Undateable: So are Danny and Leslie competing for Justin's affections? Or is he just playing mediator between the two?
