TVLine has learned exclusively that Tony winner Nina Arianda — Dancy’s leading lady in Broadway’s Venus in Fur — is joining the acclaimed NBC thriller’s Season 3 cast as Will’s new bride.
As TVLine was first to report, Arianda’s recurring character, Molly, will be introduced in Episode 8, an installment that will jump ahead several years to allow for the transformation in Will’s personal life.

ReplyDeleteI don't really know this actress, but visually she gives me a much softer vibe, than how I would of imagined Molly Foster to be, but maybe vocally, she'll prove me wrong. On the other hand, assuming she'll stay blonde, this might be a great contrast to Bedelia...
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen her in anything, so I can't really judge how she'll be as Molly, but I do love that she's worked with Hugh before, so I'm hopeful the chemistry will be there to sell their relationship in the too few episodes they'll have (4 episodes for Molly? Not happy about it).

ReplyDeleteProbably more. I read something about introducing Tooth Fairy in the final 4 episodes, but the plan is still in place to have the main story of Red Dragon next season. This finale might end with Will paying a visit to Hannibal for the first time in years.
ReplyDeleteThat's my biggest hope, that they're splitting the RD arc into S3 and S4, but I haven't heard any confirmation either way, so I just don't know. I doubt they'd end it with Will visiting Hannibal, if anything they might end it with a flaming wheelchair, that's a lot more dramatic.
ReplyDeleteI doubt we'll get that since they already used that visual cue in the second season. I believe Fuller will find a proper variation on the flaming wheelchair. But yeah, you might be right, but I believe that Will's first visit to Hannibal is also quite dramatic. I also think that they won't follow the book that closely, especially in dialogue because the stuff Hannibal says during their reunion in Red Dragon about God droppin a church roof on his followers etc. was already used in the first season (I'm having a rewatch at the moment).
ReplyDeleteHe might even show us some of Dollarhyde's backstory that was in the book but hardly touched upon in the previous adaptions.
But I don't know, just really excited to see what's coming!
Actually, Fuller confirmed we ARE getting it (unless he's changed his mind since last season), he said that Hannibal would suggest it to Dolarhyde (it really isn't the Tooth Fairy's MO) since Freddie escaped death once, he felt it was how she should die, or something.
ReplyDeleteA LOT of Red Dragon was already used in S1, including a lot of Molly and Reba dialogue, so I'm definitely interested in what is changed and what stays the same. I loved Dolarhyde's back story in the book, so I wouldn't mind them getting into it more.
Honestly, I'm not that excited, especially considering how I was always looking forward to seeing their version of RD. But between S2 being a mess for me and some of these spoilers, it's like the show is actively trying to kill my love for it. We'll see if I manage to drum up some excitement before its summer premiere.
Also, I hope they limit the screentime of the Vergers. I think we could've done without for at least a season, maybe show a peek of Mason this season and next season but only to remind the audience that he's still there and remembers. On the other hand I think it would be stronger if the just completely left him out of it until the Hannibal-storyline.
