  1. Blimey, that was a bit dark, with a few "What the heck?" moments!

I liked the way that they alluded to the legend of Orpheus venturing into the underworld to be reunited with Eurydice.

On a lighter note, when Jason and Medea were relying on the un-dead soldiers not being able to see them in the cave system, was anyone else reminded of Arthur, Merlin and the wildoren?

  2. It does seem like it's getting darker and darker doesn't it, any humour just fell a bit flat in this episode for me as it wasn't the time or place for a quick one liner from Hercules. The cave setting also felt very constricting action wise, and a tad repetitive since we've already had the main characters trapped in one set of caves this season already. They also do tend to bring to mind Merlin episodes too, like you say, as they are the same caves that they use, lol.

I did like the idea of the twist in the Orpheus/Eurydice legend, but it didn't quite have the emotional punch to the gut that I hoped it would have. I think that the music let the episode down in places though, it did seem to be very minimal throughout this week. Perhaps some of the scenes needed a bit more of a push from that for me.

I'm also a tad confused as to why the caves were so dreaded by Pasiphae's army last week, they only seemed to be dangerous due to the spell she cast herself.

  3. Oh yea this week was fun and intense at the same time. That was a good episode.

Medea and Jason moment were great, even with her betrayal at the end. Lets just hope this is the only big betrayal with them and not that other thing.

Pythagoras and Hercules banters are always top notch. I laughed when Hercules fell on the broken ledge.

Finally Ariadne admitted she loved Jason. And what a Flag that was. Moments later she get's stabbed by Medea, whom Jason believed. And like we saw, this going to make Jason mad and guilty. But I shall have fate that something good well happen.

sidetrack... If magic was real, how da faq the first person learned it. I want to know. Did he just saying

Gibberish and all of a sudden he/she started casting spells? I wonder if I try that it would happen. Nope I recall trying so in the past it didn't work. Then what made a deal with some one. Who I want to meet him. Or maybe it was never real. And if so how da faq we came up with the idea for it. We new belief is spoken of it sounds way out there and different, I wonder how it got pass that phase in literature. Side track complete.

  4. Maybe they thought as soldiers they will be cursed to die too, probably some legends passed around.

  5. The magic is all to do with the gods in Atlantis I think. The Oracle has said that Pasiphae and Jason are 'touched by the gods', so I assume it's some kind of knowledge or deal with them. It's all very vague though, lol.

  6. Yeah, I guess. I thought they said that anyone who enters dies though?

  7. I was talking about in real life.... lol
    In the show I understand.

  9. Then someone been spreading crazy stories. Its funny what people believe. Cuz no one died upon entering. Only people cause other people to die.

  10. Yeah, it's odd. One of the army even allowed Pasiphae to stab him instead of entering the caves.

  12. The best things about the ep were Pythagoras because he is just brilliantly sweet and wise and funny and I wish he had more to do and I also found the Orpheous and Euridice scenes really sad and I hope he keeps his promise to save her from Hades. Im not a fan of Medea I don't understand why she's so popular she has one maybe two facial expressions like Jason ;) I liked Ariadne and Pythagoras interacting and tbh they had more chmeistry than her and Jason have had ever. Im starting to wish this was Pythagoras story because for me he is the only one I actually care about and I also think Ariadne is much better when she detaches herself from all the Jason stuff. Also there should have been more Pasiphae she's terrific.

  13. Ariadne is definately a better character when she's not mopping over Jason and perhaps Jason is better when he's away from her. They do have physical chemistry but whenever they actually start talking to each other, the actors go back to having a limited number of facial expressions.

I did enjoy this episode for the little character moments - the scenes between Orpheous and Euridice made me feel sad as they were meant to, we got a bit of humour between Hercules and Pythagoras, hopefully Jason & Ariadne's 'relationship' might start going somewhere now that Ariadne has told him that she loves him and Medea's betrayal of Jason's trust was an interesting ( if perhaps predictable ) moment too - but as an episode overall, not an awful lot was going on.

  14. Strangely enough, I thought the humour played a vital role this week in lightening up what would otherwise have been a relentlessly dark episode. I suppose the writers are portraying Hercules as someone who comes out with humorous one-liners as his way of coping with the fear he must be feeling in these situations and perhaps attempting to keep everyone else's spirits up, s sort of "gallows humour" maybe. It will be interesting to see if they lighten the tone a bit more in future episodes, although with Ariadne seriously injured and Jason full of guilt I suspect there is more heavy stuff to come next week.

  15. Yeah I guess you're right. I think I've just reached the point where I'm wanting a lighter episode perhaps. I'm not entirely sure what this one achieved, apart from don't trust Medea because she'll stab Ariadne, and it took all episode to get to that point with far too many samey mini battles in the dark with the undead.

I realise that I'm sounding v negative about the episode this week, I wasn't totally down about it as there were bits I did like. Pythagoras being the brains and working out what the bites meant and that Eurydice was effected was great. As was Ariadne taking control and talking too Orpheus about what had to be done before it was too late.

I just think that the show needs to continue playing to its strengths more, and unfortunately the character driven plots aren't always the way to go with some of the actors they have imo. Jason needs to be in full warrior mode, for example, to make the best of his talents I feel. The scenes between him and Medea were instantly forgettable, and didn't really achieve anything.
