  1. We need a crossover!
Henry not getting modern day jokes and Ricks outspoken, sarcastic personality colliding would be amazing

  2. ABC needs to stop using Castle to promote Forever.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Cant happen since Ian has already been on Castle and his character is one character no one wants to see on Castle again lol

  4. I'm a Castle fan and i find it somewhat flattering. ABC desperately wants a Castle like show, but this didn't work. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  5. That and Castle is at it's 7th season! They need another Castle like consistent utility player on their schedule.

  6. I just googled it, wooot. Ioan played that sleezy guy charming Beckett? I didn't even remember that xD

  7. Come on they need to add Asher and Connor to this, maybe even an interesting Nashville guy( if something like that excists) .

  8. Castle fandom is pissed off already at least on twitter it seems.

  9. Yes, thus his notoriety in Castle fandom.

  10. Maybe Vaughn was Henry's alter ego or sth.

But enough sci-fi-ness in Castle this season though haha

  11. ABC is foolish, seemingly they don't understand how fandoms work. This blatant push ("watch this, because we want this to replace Castle") has already alienated and pissed off the fans at the premiere of Forever.

If they wanted to use the Castle fandom to strengthen Forever they should have been more indirect. Arranging joint appearances, making the Forever cast telling good things about Castle (which could have been easy, considering IG's stint in the show). In short: making the cast and the story likable without directly pushing Castle fans to watch it.

Which could have worked, because IMHO Forever has really good potentials - it's entertaining and they use the protagonist's unique perk very well. Most of the Castle fandom had already accepted in their heart that the show is coming close to its end and Forever could have been a really good substitute - if they weren't hate it already.

  12. Fans keep complaining that ABC doesn't know how to promote Castle and its on it's 7th season! So ABC will just continue going with it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. All this promotion may be all for naught since Forever may get cancelled anyways....

  14. I love both of these shows, it's a shame that the ratings are low for forever as the cast are great and it would be a sad to lose the show.

  15. Forever has just got its full season order. ABC has probably learned from Body of Proof which they dumped and then regretted. They should stop tieing Forever to Castle, they harm the show more with it as they benefit.

Forever is a show worth to watch on its own right. I hope it will be able to strengthen its position during the rest of the season and get a renewal in May.

  16. Great promo! I just celebrated my 235th birthday, Too funny!

  17. Forever needs to reach consistent 1.3 to 1.4 demo to have a chance.

  18. Not exactly Eric Vaughn was about 50 year old while Henry is about 35 in age looking so I am sure it would be funny if Rick thought Henry was Eric Vaughn. I explored this premise in a Fan Fiction under FF Net,

  19. The only reason Castle got 7 seasons is because it was able to maintain remarkably consistent & healthy ratings (over 10mil live viewers, excluding DVR figures, for 5 straight yrs!). Not because of 'ABC Publicity'.

    ReplyDelete
  20. That's kind of what I meant. Why would "ABC Publicity" change how it promotes the show? Steady fanbase, might as well use resources on another show. Castle is what it is.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Which I hope they will do.

  22. Honestly, I find this whole concept - my fellow Castle fans getting /offended/ by
promotion for Forever - bizarre. It's absolutely a compliment to Castle, and given the similar tones of the two shows, makes perfect sense that they'd hope Castle's fan base would give Forever a shot too. They're trying to give us two quirky, off-beat procedurals to enjoy, instead of one. It's a good thing!

And yeah, with Castle in it's 7th season, and with no guarantee the cast will be willing to renew contracts, I'd really love to see Forever make it. If both shows continued, great: I'd have two fun shows to watch next year. And if Castle does end, it would help ease just a little of the sting.

  23. I just can't understand why people are pissed. As I see it: Castle barely survived it's first season, in spite of poor promotion, and ABC must recognize how close they came to losing what turned out to be such a strong asset. Having found another show with some of Castle's same qualities - strong cast, great character dynamics, off-beat feel, good balance of comedy and drama - they don't want to make the same mistakes. Good!
Promoting Forever to Castle fans tells us how much they respect both Castle and the passion of its fan base. Castle fans lose nothing by it, and have a shot at gaining a second great show to enjoy.

  24. From what I've read around, some fans think Forever is going to take over it's timeslot or whatever little attention ABC gives to Castle is instead being SHARED with Forever.
Some fans rightly or not think Castle could have been a "bigger" show with better/more promo from ABC and not just the consistent-little-show-that-could.

    ReplyDelete
  25. People always play their own ancestors on pretty much every tv show ever, yeah? I say... They've got the same granddad, (with lots of "greats" in front of that for Eric.) Ooh, or maybe Henry /is/ Vaughn's ancestor, and there was a kid we don't yet know about...

[I know, I know. Never going to happen. Pretty sure immortals don't exist in the Castle universe, or at least we'd never get an episode that did more than hint that they /could/ exist! Fan fic writers, looks like it's up to you.]

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks for the explanation. Still seems bizarre to me!

If Castle fans /would/ get behind Forever, both shows would only stand to gain, since the two shows could build off each other, cross-promote, etc. And if the Castle cast don't renew their contracts, (which could easily happen), at least we'd have something not dissimilar left to enjoy!

I agree with Astrophil. It's not like we have to choose one show or the other, so Castle doesn't lose from this. And if someone doesn't want to watch one of them, then don't. It's just a 30 sec promo, no big deal.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I little more than that actually.

    ReplyDelete
  29. If Nielsen viewers aren't watching Forever, it doesn't matter what fans as a whole think. :/

    ReplyDelete
  30. Contradiction in itself: then why would it worth to promote specifically to the fans? Or in a broader aspect - why would promote any show to anybody, when only the few thousand Nielsen viewers define the numbers? (Which is true technically.)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Maybe a 1.5 to 1.7? Seems a bit of a big climb.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Why is that? I think it was a great idea.

    ReplyDelete
  33. this does not make sense to me. I can not imagine what the anger is motivated by. Forever and Castle are both really good shows on ABC

    ReplyDelete
  34. because if they tried to watch it some would like it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh I am so happy for this A Full season! Tickles me pink! I really like the show and watch live... just like Castle.. and nope I am not a Nielsen house nor am I in the age bracket everyone cares about. To me its about being entertained and both shows do that for me.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Funny - this promo has already achieved more comments that the wedding episode (something almost every fan was claiming)!
Anyway, as a huge Castle fan, I don´t feel a bit "offended" by this promo - I also enjoy Forever a lot (not as much as Castle, but it´s an entertaining little show)...

    ReplyDelete
  37. They need to partner with cbs and add Sherlock and Patrick Jane to the commercial. That would be funny!!
