ABC ANNOUNCES PREMIERE DATES FOR “GALAVANT” AND “MARVEL’S AGENT CARTER”

Return dates for hit Thursday night dramas (#TGIT), “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and “Once Upon A Time”

ABC announces premiere dates for two of its highly anticipated new midseason shows – “Galavant,” a comedy extravaganza and “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” the second action packed series from the creative minds at Marvel, inspired by the feature films “Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” along with the short “Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter.” “Galavant” will premiere on SUNDAY, JANUARY 4 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) and will run two episodes in the one-hour block each week, and “Marvel’s Agent Carter” premieres on TUESDAY, JANUARY 6 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET).

“Once Upon A Time” will return on Sunday, March 1 and “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will return on Tuesday, March 3 in their regular time periods with all-new episodes.

The hit TGIT Thursday night dramas, “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” and “How to Get Away with Murder,” return Thursday, January 29.

“Galavant” – Screenwriter/executive producer Dan Fogelman (“Crazy, Stupid, Love,” “Tangled,” “Cars”) unites with Broadway and Hollywood award-winning musical team—composer Alan Menken (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “Beauty And The Beast”) and lyricist Glenn Slater (“The Little Mermaid,” “Tangled”). Once Upon A Time, the dashing hero, Galavant (Joshua Sasse), lost the love of his life, Madalena (Mallory Jansen), to the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson). Now, our fallen hero is ready to take revenge and restore his “happily ever after.” But it won’t be without a few twists and turns along the way.

“Galavant” stars Joshua Sasse as Galavant, Timothy Omundson as King Richard, Vinnie Jones as Gareth, Mallory Jansen as Madalena, Karen David as Isabella and Luke Youngblood as Sid.

“Galavant” was written by Dan Fogelman, who also serves as executive producer. Executive producers are Alan Menken, Glenn Slater and Chris Koch. The pilot of “Galavant” was directed by Chris Koch. Abbey C Studios Ltd. produces “Galavant” for ABC Studios.

“Marvel’s Agent Carter” - It's 1946 and peace has dealt Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy finds herself stuck doing administrative work when she would rather be back out in the field, putting her vast skills into play and taking down the bad guys. But she is also trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers – aka Captain America. When old acquaintance Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper, “Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger”) finds himself being framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons to anyone willing to pony up the cash, he contacts Peggy -- the only person he can trust -- to track down those responsible, dispose of the weapons and clear his name. He empowers his butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy), to be at her beck and call when needed to help assist her as she investigates and tracks down those responsible for releasing these weapons of mass destruction. If caught going on these secret missions for Stark, Peggy could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison – or worse.

“Marvel’s Agent Carter” stars Hayley Atwell (“Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier”) as Agent Peggy Carter, James D'Arcy (“Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World”) as Edwin Jarvis, Chad Michael Murray (“One Tree Hill,” “A Cinderella Story”) as Agent Jack Thompson, Enver Gjokaj (“Dollhouse”) as Agent Daniel Sousa and Shea Whigham (“American Hustle,” “The Wolf of Wall Street”) as Chief Roger Dooley.

Tara Butters (“Resurrection”), Michele Fazekas (“Resurrection), Christopher Markus (“Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier”), Stephen McFeely (“Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier”), Chris Dingess (“Men in Trees”), Kevin Feige (“Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”), Louis D'Esposito (“Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Marvel’s Iron Man 3”), Alan Fine (“Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Marvel’s Thor”), Joe Quesada (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble”), Stan Lee (“Spider-Man,” “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk”) and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville,” “Lost,” “Heroes”) are executive producers. “Marvel’s Agent Carter” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

yes for Scandal coming back earlier than i expected. but then that will make the season finale sometime in March. Making the summer hiatus even longer than this previous one... da hell?!

  8. Nine weeks of no HTGAWM? Sigh.

  9. 3 months of wait for OUAT D: Does Revenge gets back in January again this season as last season?

  12. Gonna be a very very LNG time without Once & Murder

  13. Yep it's a heck of a long wait between the first half and second half of OUaT, though Galavant will be airing in it's place while it's gone, so that may tide some people over until it comes back. Just hope that show it good.

  14. Yep.Revenge,Reserrection,Castle break Dec. 7-8& return in Jan

  15. So excited for Agent Carter and Galavant.

The long hiatus for SHIELD sucks but at least it's back in early March and there won't be all those breaks.

  17. I know, right?! This will be torture!

  18. From my calculations, April 23rd will be the finale date. I would rather have ABC air the rest of the season next year with zero repeats than having breaks.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hopefully it's in late January

    ReplyDelete
  20. Nope probably the will be repeats in between. Last year they had to miss it because of Kerry's pregnancy.

  21. Galavant and agent carter will be fun without having between the haitusof shows that I watch .

Same, but then the Hiatus is once again going to be longer

  24. i mean wow...so long HIATUS...Once upon a time...but never mind...

  25. Wait. Chad Michael Murray is in Agent Carter? This somehow slipped past me. This is disappointing. I've never much cared for him....

It will not be against the grammys. It was not last year either

    ReplyDelete
  28. Looking forward to Galavant, as well as of course Agent Carter.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Scandal has 22 episodes?

    ReplyDelete
  30. And then six month wait for season 2.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yes for shorter break for GA than last year.

    ReplyDelete
  32. still not 3 months

    ReplyDelete
  33. Trust me Scandal will have repeats.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Galavant can not wait being looking forward since Tim Omundson was signed for the pilot

    ReplyDelete
  35. ABC said that the first half of AoS will also air uninterrupted but it has two repeats scheduled this month.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I honestly don't think that Agent Carter or Galavant are concepts that ABC is truly invested in. ABC is using them as bridges between the half-seasons of OUAT and SHIELD. I don't think there are any high hopes in the ratings, but if they surprise and do well, expect them to be renewed and moved to the conventional schedule instead of being "bridging shows".

    ReplyDelete
  37. I am almost certain that Revenge will air against The Globe and NFC though. Seems like ABC didn't even want to try to protect this show. I am really hoping that they don't air it against the Grammys. But if ABC does air it against the Grammys then ABC really wants it to fail. I have a bad feeling the only reason why ABC didn't air Revenge against the Grammys last year is because the Grammys last year were shifted to January (to avoid the Olympics), and ABC never airs 4 episodes in January, only 3.
That is exactly how they destroyed Desperate Housewives, and Revenge Season 2 (and Once Upon A Time before Frozen). They schedule 3 episodes in January, the first episode does well, the 2nd episode goes against Golden Globe (fail), the 3rd episode against NFC (fail), and then the show goes on hiatus (fail again), and then comes back during the night of the Grammys (epic fail). The shows never quite recover after that.

@ DarkUFO any Word on revenge?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Revenge and OUAT6 November 2014 at 12:24

Well yeah but last year revenge had 10 episodes by december and this year they will have 11 or 12. There is no need for it to air in january. Last year they had to pair the revenge finale with the 2 hour OUAT finale. Know what i mean? I am really praying revenge does not air in january and maybe therefore they have not said anything yet.

    ReplyDelete
  40. They are obviously favouring OUAT, SHIELD, and TGIT. We all know serialized shows do worse by airing repeats with on and off scheduling, particularly on this day and age.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The winter finale is episode 10 just like last year.

    ReplyDelete
  42. sorry I'm dumb but hadn't they say there would be no break for OUAT this year and now they changed their minds? So 4b goes on 3/1/15? At what ep 4a ends then? I thought 4a & 4b would have had no break this year. Do we still get 24 episodes in total? Or still 22 as usual?

    ReplyDelete
  43. ABC has never said there would be no break. They said they would extend the successful split season model that did wonders for them last year and they did so (see: Shield). OUAT was probably the show to benefit the most from the break last year so it wouldn't really make sense to regress to the horrible schedule we had for season 2.

It will have 23 episodes this year. Two weeks from now it will air a special two hour episode (though I am not sure if ABC will count it as one or two episodes, but it will still be two hours, so I count it as 23)

    ReplyDelete
  44. ABC has not announced anything for Revenge yet which means it is likely returning in January like last year. Resurrection is for sure returning for three episodes so I imagine Revenge does the same. We are probably looking at three weeks of Galavant| Galavant | Resurrection | Revenge. The last Galavant week is probably a Bachelor special.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Shield had literally one of the worst schedules I have memory of in recent years (only beaten by the atrocity of OUAT and Revenge schedules two years ago). This schedule is actually quite good for it IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  46. It is widely assumed that Murder will have a two hour season finale so Scandal will break on that night at least. Other than that, there is still an entire night in which they have to air repeats if they want to end the season with GA + GA + Secrets and Lies and end season on the penultimate week of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think Revenge will only air one episode more than last year in the fall. I am pretty sure it is airing in January sadly (this being said, the January airings last year didn't do as badly as I thought, so who knows)

    ReplyDelete
  48. My guess is that:
    - the entire Thursday ABC lilneup is preempted sometime in the Spring with a special for one night (probably sometime in late March/April)
    - Scandal is preempted for a two hour Murder season finale
    - Scandal ends the penultime week of the season (already in May sweeps) and GA airs a two hour season finale the week after to lead into the season finale of Secrets and Lies

    ReplyDelete
  49. When is the second repeat schedule? That means we will have a two hour Agents of Shield finale or spring premiere I think.

By my calculation, there are 35 Tuesdays this year to air. These are filled with:
    - 22 Agents of Shield episodes
    - 30 Agent Carter episodes
    - 2 weeks of filler for Christmas holidays
    - election preemption this past week
    - DWTS fall finale
    - DWTS spring finale

This amounts to 35, so I wonder why they are preempting it again until the end of the fall.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I agree! Just going to miss it during the hiatus.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yeah me too. I love the show! But I am pretty excited about Carter, I think it will be good to fill the void!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Well, it's not a repeat, but rather DWTS on 25th November.

    http://abcmedianet.com/Web/progcal/progcal.aspx?today=11/23/2014
They'll have 10 episode in the fall and return for the remaining 12 in March.

And there are three Tuesdays between AoS's fall finale and Agent Carter's premiere

There must be a double episode during the spring cycle. I think the finale most likely to tie in with I Avengers 2.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ah that makes more sense. But I hadn't realize the 3 weeks gap for Christmas. That surely has to mean a double episode for the spring cycle then. I certainly won't mind a two hour Shield, they can make it movie-like, so I am actually good with that!

    ReplyDelete
  54. thank you so, at which episode ends 4a, which number?
