I think it will be Fusco , he has been in it a lot less since Carter died. I hope it isn't him , I would much prefer it to be Shaw.
ReplyDeleteGreat. Way back when I could understand why they killed Carter as she was a weak and annoying character, but now every character is awesome in their own way. Hopefully, he just means a supporting actor who we don't see much anyways like Control or Elias
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be as painful as Carter isn't it? I'm thinking it's going to be Root, but just a pure guess. I'm extremely curious but also incredibly fearful.
ReplyDeleteProbably they're going to kill Greer's pet. Zachary or whatever his name is. Since Cara Buono's character is in the picture he's not needed anymore.

ReplyDeleteI know it's not what you want to hear (I don't like the Facebook fans either :p) but I do hope it's either Root or Shaw. I can live without them. No point in killing Fusco or Finch at this point, and if it's Reese... No, they shouldn't kill Reese.
"An actor" - can be anybody who have at least a recurring role, from Scarface to Zoe or Leon. Can even be someone new, who only have a few episode arc. They are filming now which episode - 6,7? I seriously doubt that any of the core cast (including Greer and Elias) would be written off at that point of the season. Just an example: in last season Carter's new partner was a regular yet was killed in Ep7.

ReplyDeleteI think its Bear. Though Plageman said that the show's finale could be everybody dead except him, he also mentioned back in S3 that Carter's the heart of the show, and look what happened.

Finch dying would be interesting, but I like to think he would take Decima down with him if he did. It would kill me though, because Michael Emerson was the reason I started watching the show and I think that he's the only one that really can't be replaced.

ReplyDeleteThe Brit guy's Lambert. Give him a heck of lot of credit too. Far as we know, he's been working as early as late-2010 & neither got captured, or had an accident, OR got popped by Greer in the event of failure.

ReplyDeleteSome oddly dark humor: Collier was pretty much indestructible too, ever since that phone call with Hersh in the bank back in Aletheia. Just seconds after the bomb killed that Terminator in the finale, his superpower runs out in the form of 2 rounds to his back. Not sure if that was an intended gag by the writers, or just some whacky coincidence

ReplyDeleteA character can mean anybody, but the fact that its the Executive Producer that is breaking the news means that its a character of significance.
ReplyDeleteHere are some musings of mine:
Reese: He's the hero and lead of the show. He's safe.
Finch: He's one of the leads and although one would think that he would be safe: his death and/or appearance of his death would be a significant dramatic turn in the series with loads of possibilities. Plus in terms of the "genius mastermind" role, there is Root waiting in the wings that can play that role quite well. Finch might not be as safe as we all would like to think he is.
Fusco: At first glance one might think that Fusco can be cut out easily. But he's the "everyman" of the show: the character that relates most closely with the viewer. Also we went down that road with Carter's death last year. this has been done already.
Root: She's the wildcard in all of this. The character that can come and go and inject change in the plot thread. I think there's still lots of useful things for her to do.
Shaw: She's awesome but I hate to say it her death somehow seems the most likely. The plot revolving "control" and the relevant numbers has all but been completed. Shaw is now little more than a soldier now that heals the occasional wound and plays with the dog. Her death would have the emotional effect but not the dramatic consequence of changing the show too much. There is also the matter of Cara Buono's impending "femme fatale" character that is about to be introduced. All indications suggest that her character won't be the bad guy that we may at first be lead to believe. The logical conclusion would have to be that Buono's character would eventually meet up with and possible join the team. That's assuming that her character is as significant as we are being lead to believe by pre season interviews.
Therefore if its a "main character" I'm gonna go with Shaw as the one who doesn't make it. If it isn't a main character but an "important" one then quite possibly Elias.

ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone BUT the Executive Producer can make that call. And even here, he's very likely to be kidding.
Losing Fusco would be losing the POI team's only ally in the police department.
ReplyDeletenot necessarily. If it was Zoe Morgan that was being killed off the result would be dramatic for sure but the news would likely come to Paige Turco from her agent or manager.

ReplyDeleteI think it's a common courtesy by the show runners themselves to call the actors whose characters are getting killed off At least the TWD actors do get personal calls from the EP when they are about to be killed off. So, it could be a major character though not necessarily a regular. My money is on Elias or Scarface.

I watch the show for Finch and Reese. If either of them die I'm gone. If they kill Fusco or Bear I would be very upset. Shaw is ok but I wouldn't miss her. Root is just annoying and I have been hoping she would die since her first appearance.

ReplyDeleteIf they kill someone at all ,I think it is Fusco. The main characters are Finch, Reese, Shaw and Root. Fusco is regular but he is only supporting character. I don't think that they would kill the main character again.
ReplyDeleteYes, but the fact that they are calling them doesn't mean it's happening in episode 7. Carter died midseason, so the character may be written out in episode 10-12. This may just be the fact that they are warning them of the fact that they are being killed off in a few episodes.

ReplyDeleteI read all the tweets and without hearing the words, in the context and mood of the panel I'm not even sure how real the "threat" is. I can imagine - note: IMAGINE! - that it was just an example joke.
ReplyDeleteThe show definitely have the guts to kill important characters (I think Nolan said in last season that they told everybody just rent, not buy an apartment), so it easily can be among the cards, but just from this tweet I'm not sure. If anybody was there or know about a podcast of the panel, it would be helpful.
I do not want Elias to be terminated because I think he adds a more complicated moral tone than just an ordinary villain does. Besides he is a tie to the loss of Carter because he liked her and I believe in keeping ties to the past as well as adding the new.

ReplyDeleteIf Greer is killed, that would change the whole Samaritan plot very drastically. With him gone, Team Machine might regain the upper hand. That's just my way in seeing it. However, I can see Elias being another likely candidate or Root.

ReplyDeleteI hope if they kill a main character it's actually needed and impactful because the trend in today tv that to be a good and edgy show you have to regularly kill off characters is old and misguided. This season may be about war, but there are other ways to keep the show fresh and suspenseful. I hope it's not Shaw or Root since if we loose one of them we would be down to one woman on the main cast.

ReplyDeleteThat can be a trend, but IMHO PoI was among the very few shows in which the death of a character was not only heartbreakingly written but they didn't spare the aftermath either. Made the sacrifice worthy, Carter's death even affected how and why Reese and Shaw acted during the final episodes.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the man/woman ratio: IMHO it's very sad if a female character is kept in a show just to keep up the ratio. I love both Root and Shaw, but if I would miss any of them only because of gender reasons - well, that character were high time to be written off.
Plus as the comment below quotes - there's a war. Nothing can steal the suspense more from a show with shooting guns if you know that the enemy will always miss.

ReplyDeleteThis could be bad news. The show is already fresh enough for this entire season. People already had enough of a hard time after Carter was killed off last year. To do something like that again, especially so soon, could be a huge mistake. It could kill the show, and trust me, that statement is the last one that I want to say. POI has been my favorite show from season 1 and I would hate to have it undone by something stupid like this. Over the last year, I've spent way too much time defending the show after Carter's death and telling people to get over it because it's still good without her. And then there are the Shaw and Root haters who have refused to watch ever since they came on board. Mr. Plageman, if you read this, please use extreme care if you decide to kill someone else off. You might very likely kill the show in the process. I defended killing off Carter, but I'm not sure if I would defend this.
ReplyDeleteAnd that is a very dangerous place to tread. You're right. In this show, nobody is irreplaceable. But TV works differently than the movies, and they risk killing the show every time they dare to go there.
ReplyDeleteIt won't be Reese or Finch. Together with the Machine, they really build the show's "base". I honstely don't see either of these deaths at this point, it >might< be possible toward the series' end.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they'll kill off Shaw now, they only properly introduced us to her last Season. They went through a lot of trouble to introduce her and give her a place on the show. Fusco.. might be, if Reese keeps his job. I don't think he will, so he's their only police connection as soon as Reese's cover blows. I don't think it's him.
Could it be Root? Might be, yes, but maybe it is Greer, Control or Senator Garrison (preview indicates he might outlive his usefulness soon). Or Elias? It really depends on what you think they'll do. Will they kill a supporting or a main charactor?
My interpretation is, it'll be a main character (I don't know at what point in this season) and it'll be a game chagner. My bet: Root. This would also be a huge disadvantage for Team Machine.
Root. The new character, the blonde one, she will be "the substitute"
