  1. So. Real World; preteen has mental issues - therapy. Zombie Apocalypse;
preteen has mental issues - shot in the head. Note to self.

  2. I think I missed it - did Lizzie get her sister killed?

This whole episode I was yelling for someone to kill Lizzie but I didn't expect it to actually happen. Carol did what she had to do, and I don't blame her for it. Whoa.

And see, Rick? Tyreese and Carol worked out their issues on their own (probably because of Lizzie, but still).

    Amazing episode!

  3. Glad Carol told Tyrese the truth.

And I never thought I'd say this about even a fictional girl: I am so glad insane Lizzy is dead. About freakin time. Why did her sister have to die to prove what was in front of everyone's faces?

    ReplyDelete
  4. They can't really institutionalize her. And she's slowly been getting worse.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Lizzie killed her sister with her knife - no zombies needed. She thought by killing her she could prove zombies were actually nice because her sister would come back a friendly zombie and kiss everyone instead of chopping on their necks.

    ReplyDelete
  6. "Psycho - Lizzie" killed her little sister so she could show Carol and Tyreese that there was no difference between people and walkers, #0LY $#!T! 4 EVER, Nobody!!!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Tyreese was like "What the bleeping bleep!?!?!" His reaction was so shocked, lol. And then she'll like "I was just about to turn to Judith" and Tyreese must be thinking "WAT??!" I actually wanted Carl to take of her, but I guess you can't go "that" extreme.

Slow burn eposide again, but hell of a burn it was.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I really shouldn't have looked away from the screen. Have to rewatch that scene!

    And holy shit, Lizzie.

    ReplyDelete
  9. This episode was rough but im glad lizzie finally got what she deserved

    ReplyDelete
  10. No mental institutions around and she's not safe. I wouldn't want to be around her. And if they'd let her go she'd be killed by zombies anyways (while playing with one surely).

Carol did the tough thing but it was better for everyone else alive.

And repeat, Lizzie killed her sister! Even if they could throw her in a mental institution she'd rot there cause no amount of therapy can fix that crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  11. got to say I loved this episode and the scene with lizzie and her sister was just like the one from the comic book with ben and his twin brother

    ReplyDelete
  12. True, but it's a zombie apocalypse. Lizzie actually had logic though obviously hugely flawed... but she's a preteen! I'm really not sure what the answer is but one extreme for another extreme seems possibly hugely flawed.

    ReplyDelete
  13. But how could they reason with her? Help her? There's no medication around to stabilize her.

Yes, it was an extreme, but one that was necessary.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh. My. Goodness! What an excellent episode.

It was a great character study. I knew Lizzie was crazy, but even I didn't fully realize how crazy she was. I felt so bad for Mica. I'm sure Lizzie caught her off guard and overpowered her. That poor girl. I liked the lessons Carol was trying to teach both girls.

I'm still processing it. Very powerful episode.

I'm happy the secret re: Karen and David is out. I liked how Tyreese processed it. I can't wait to see Rick next week though :-)

Only two more episodes!! It's been a great season!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Well, we didn't have medicine for 1000s of years. But of course killing for stealing was also popular though I doubt many "kids" were "offed."

    ReplyDelete
  16. Lizzie killed poor little Mica!

And, yes, I think Carol made the best decision. It would have been worse to abandon Lizzie. Either way, she was going to die.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Lizzie wasn't stealing, though. She murdered her own sister, was the one feeding the zombies and was responsible for all of them being at the prison, and nearly killed the baby (twice)!

How exactly were Carol and Tyreese supposed to help? She would have either killed them or gotten them killed.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well . . . rest assured . . . they didn't show Lizzie killing Mica!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Her younger sister understood the real truth. Lizzie's logic was only logic to her. Maybe she was a preteen, but her sister proved that being young doesn't mean you have to be stupidly blind to the truth.

It's messed up Carol shot her, but on the other hand Lizzie would have kept killing or gotten someone else killed. Even after numerous times of being nearly bitten by zombies she still believed they wanted to be friends. She should have let them bite her! She should have had the guts to kill herself instead of her sister if she believed so bad!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yeah, just wished she lasted awhile and then Carl offs her like in the comic book

    ReplyDelete
  21. No clue how to help. It just seemed extreme especially for a preteen. I'm not comparing stealing to killing... just pointing out humans have figured stuff out without medicine.

    ReplyDelete
  22. But they tried to explain the situation to Lizzie but she just wasn't getting it. She KILLED her sister to prove a point, and I'm sure no matter how Mica acted when she turned, Lizzie would have thought her point was proven.

Sadly, Lizzie was a lost cause and was sure to die (playing w/zombies) in a ZA.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Reading the comics too I was also hoping it would be Carl

    ReplyDelete
  24. If she was say 20, I'd think lost cause. But at that age, you have a ton of shit to learn. MAYBE it was necessary but sure seems like many are jumping the gun (pun intended).

    ReplyDelete
  25. What exactly could Lizzie have learned? She was too far gone and definitely a lost cause.

    ReplyDelete
  26. But there is literally nothing else they could do w/Lizzie. She can't be trusted. They'd have to lock her up and walk her around.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh man, sorry if I ruined the scene if you haven't gotten there yet, lol

    ReplyDelete
  28. She would have gotten herself and many others killed before reaching 20. Their are zombies at every corner.

She was dead before Carol even pulled the trigger, it was only a matter of time and how many people Lizzie brought to the grave with her trying to prove zombies are sweethearts.

    ReplyDelete
  29. You're saying stuff you believed at age 11/12, you still believe today?!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I hear what you're saying, but as others have pointed out, numerous zombies have attempted to KILL Lizzie, and she interpreted all those actions as gestures for friendship, etc. It clearly wasn't sinking in w/her, and short of literally locking her up, there was absolutely nothing Carol and Tyreese could do w/her.

They could have abandoned her, but to me, that would have been more cruel than what Carol ended up doing.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I didn't believe killing people who did nothing to hurt me was right when I was that age. And her sister was younger and knew better.

    ReplyDelete
  32. We're not talking about believing in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny here! We're talking about zombies. Her little sister "got it," but Lizzie didn't and never was going to get it! That's a problem.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yeah that was a painless death compared to what the zombies would have done with her. But maybe the should have left her. She would have become a zombie and all her dreams would have come true.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Unbelievable episode............the best of the season IMO! Carol and Tyreese are at fault for the end results because they were the "Adults". I put most of it on Carol, because she has known for a long time (back at the prison) about Lizzie being "Bad/Wrong" and took no steps to deal with it. Tyreese I hold to a lesser degree, because he had no knowledge of Lizzie's past behavior and on the road/run Tyreese was thinking to protect the girls he had to stay alive ie: his tunnel vision prevented him from seeing what was right in front of him. 4 THE DEAD TO STAY WALKING, I am Nobody!!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hahaha . . . but she wouldn't have realized. She was, clearly, a very troubled girl. This end was the best for her.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yeah . . . that would have been interesting!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Considering the options, I agree.

I am the last person to support killing even a fictional kid, but for the sakes of everyone it was the only way.

    ReplyDelete
  38. What would you suggest they do? Tie her up, let her walk away on her own, or bring her with them and get their throats sliced open?

    ReplyDelete
  39. The blood on her hands was disturbing enough.

    ReplyDelete
  40. True, but it could have been worse! We could have seen her stabbing Mika.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm glad they didn't go that far - although it seems some people here would have needed to see it.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm a horror fan so it wouldn't have bothered me to see it BUT I didn't need to see it. As you said, her bloody hands were enough!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Lol. I'm sorry, but is that something you would have wanted or you're like "are you crazy," lol?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Most people who were insane back in the day were locked up and often experimented on (often tortured through these experiments until they died). No medicine needed. But I've never heard of a kid in history killing people and getting therapy without being isolated from other people first, to protect the other people.

Back in the day people also kept kids with disabilities in dark attics with little social contact and were abused.

People have figured out ways without medicine, sure, but they were almost always cruel ways.

Sometimes a mercy killing is the only way.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Wooow lizzie is crazy she killed her sister and carol had too kill her she was too dangerous walkers are walkers there not people Lizzie

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'd have hated to see it. I'm not a horror fan and Mica was so smart and sweet yet she also had the potential to contribute to the group (she did kill the zombies and eventually would be able to shoot deer - what kid her age not raised by hunters wouldn't have a hard time pulling the trigger on an animal like that?)

    ReplyDelete
  47. you know what would of been poetic justice if they had let her turn and deal with her murder crazy sister lizzie wouldn't think they were friendly anymore

    ReplyDelete
  48. How would she get therapy in the world they're in? She was a danger to the baby to all of them. She almost killed Judith twice, she killed her sister, she pointed a gun at Carol and Tyreese.

    ReplyDelete
  49. This show got me back with this episode. It was bloody perfect. Every minute.

    ReplyDelete
  50. No Carol said she should have seen it. She said that because she didn't see it, not until this episode. There's no way she could have known she would go as far as to kill humans. Being confused about walkers wouldn't show them she would kill her sister and the baby.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Haha! No, I think that would have been interesting to see. I don't mind the way this played out, but my friend told me what happened in the comic book so that would have been good too!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yeah . . . Mika was a really sweet kid. I feel awful that she died, and at her own sister's hands no less. The little actress was on TTD, and she seemed very insightful about her character's arc, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  53. On this point fellow poster..............we will have to agree to disagree. Don't forget Lizzie saved Tyreese back at the prison when she shot two people. Carol for better or worst taught the kids how to use a knife and a gun (Lizzie and Micka) which made her dangerous beyond a normal child. Lizzie had learned how to kill without emotional pause or moral reservation. 4 THE DEAD TO STAY WALKING, I remain Nobody!!!
PS - rewatch the episode and pay attention to Lizzie's lines/scenes...............the signs are right there in front of Carol, but she (Carol) keep rationalizing it as Lizzie was just "Confused" about walkers (whatever the #3LL that meant)!

    ReplyDelete
  54. it was amazing ! MMb and the rest of the cast were perfect!!!! I used to think Clear was the best ep of the series, but this one blew me away... New favorite!

    ReplyDelete
  55. 5 Bethyl shippers voted for AWFUL xD

    ReplyDelete
  56. This was just such a heartbreaking episode. I really didn't expect Lizzie to kill her own sister. I did think she might commit suicide so she'd become one of them but I wasn't expecting her to decide to kill Mika instead of herself.

I think Lizzie obviously needed psychiatric help but there was no way to get that for her. There was obviously no way that Carol & Tyrese could have let her stay around Judith but in the end Carol still killed a child.

I was expecting Carol to confess to the Karen/David thing at some point in the episode because it came up multiple times so I was glad that she finally did.

I do wonder if the fire they were seeing the distance was the one that Beth/Darryl set.

    ReplyDelete
  57. remember to, carol said she would take lizzie and leave but ty pointed out it would be harder to keep Judith safe. so heartbreaking but also needed

    ReplyDelete
  58. but that's the point, it was horrible, but they are surrounded by walkers and evil people. I hated it to but I don't see another way. in a foiler, they said mika got tangled in wire and was screaming for help and lizzie is about to kill Judith. carol saved Judith. then her and ty abandoned lizzie sobbing over her sister. way worse to me

    ReplyDelete
  59. also remember lizzie almost shot carol for killing a walker

    ReplyDelete
  60. she was obviously mentally ill before and this is a tragedy

    ReplyDelete
  61. I feel your pain though, its so heartbreaking to think a child is too far gone.

    ReplyDelete
  62. They could have done that - but then Lizzie would have been a walker and she could wind up killing someone down the line. Then they'd have to live wondering if anyone was dead because they didn't kill her when they had the chance.

    ReplyDelete
  63. lizzie stood with bloody knife talking about how she going to do Judith next and carol pointed out Judith cant walk

    ReplyDelete
  64. I am glad carl wasn't the one to do it, the poor kid already had to shoot his mom

    ReplyDelete
  65. first episode i haven't slept through, it was a nice change of pace.

    ReplyDelete
  66. carol saw a confused child who had a bad view of what was reality. nothing in her behavior would alert carol at the prison that it was this bad. and ty and carol saw frightening behavior but I agree that carol thought she had broken thru and that lizzie finally got it

    ReplyDelete
  67. this was the best ep to me hands down

    ReplyDelete
  68. well at least the ship got together and made a decision. I respect others opinion but I would suspect it is a carol hater who is jealous that still and alone d and b scenes, were weak

    ReplyDelete
  69. I think the fire was a result of the teen romp, drunk fest. I am prejudiced but this spoke volumes to me the level of coping and ,maturity between carol and daryl. hope the other eps show more of the strong, get things done daryl

    ReplyDelete
  70. Kiddie Borden was a kid murderer rite

    ReplyDelete
  71. Lizzie Borden

    ReplyDelete
  72. What is going on with the Zombie baby we were promised by Greg Nicaraterro

    ReplyDelete
  73. wow... what a fantastic ep.... awesome work by Chad C and Carol, and even the little psycho that was Lizzie.... really creepy and depressing but I just couldn't look away it was so good. btw. REally fantastic scenes with Tyreese and Carol out in the woods and especially when she confessed and awaited his judgement.... wow.. btw, Judith did leave wtih them, right? I don't recall seeing either one carryng her at the end... maybe they made a carrier or something

    ReplyDelete
  74. Exactly, it is tough. If the kid was an adult most everybody would say that the murderer has to be killed (in a normal society). In a zombie world it is simply if the murderer had a good reason and if they can be trusted. Lizzie had neither.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Another good episode of the back half of the season. This episode dealt with 2 big issues that we've had: Lizzie the psychopath and Tyreese finding out about Carol killing the 2 people at the prison.

The episode played out more and more how far gone Lizzie was in her delusions. When she killed Mika, I wasn't entirely surprised (based off who she's based off from the comics), but still the f***ed up nature of it got me. She really left Carol and Tyreese only 2 options, kill her or leave her. It almost would've been fitting if Carol had killed her but not by the head so she could become like the things she wanted to be.

And I'm glad with the way Tyreese/Carol went down. Carol did show she was feeling it, but justified why, and gave Tyreese something he hadn't had in a while... a sense of closure. Like he said, he won't ever forget, but at least now he finally got an answer to that and his mind won't keep reeling from wondering.

    ReplyDelete
  76. They could have had an entire psychiatric team on their side travelling with them and I highly doubt even that would have cured psycho Lizzie, sorry but its true. Even Carol who knew Lizzie had a break with reality didn't see her killing her sister coming. Carol really seemed like she was trying to get through to her and I can't blame Carol for getting the false sense that maybe they could reason with her.I really doubt anything could be done in a zombie apocalypse to help Lizzie she was just way beyond far gone for help. She would have probably killed baby Judith, Tyrese and Carol later on for killing her zombie "friends" at some point. or kept attracting the walkers everywhere they went with her feeding's until they all died.

I felt so bad for her poor little sister though who was starting to come into her own. What a sin she lost her life that way. So glad baby Judith was saved one minute later and Lizzie would have killed her too. I want to see Rick and Carl get to see the baby again. It was nice to see the team of Ty, Carol and Judith venturing on together in the end. And I felt bad for Lizzie when Carol had to take her out and have her look at the flowers while she took her life. She clearly had an idea of what was happening but was so far gone she didn't seem to get the reason why it was happening. She may have been a mentally ill psycho with a fascination for walkers but it was still awful for Lizzie and Carol that she had to die in a field like that, although they had no choice really.

Props to all the actors this episode for making the whole scenario for everyone involved heartbreaking.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Yeah the whole situation was very sad but I agree 100%. Once she killed her own sister and was moments away from stabbing Judith that said it all. Beyond help. This is not some ideal normal world situation where you can get meds, therapy and get to root of the issue. She was fully gone psycho delusional and kept attracting dangerous threats to the group (feeding the zombies, playing with them, wanting to kill live humans to turn them into zombies). No, there is no coming back from that level of crazy in this situation. Carol did what she had to do to protect everyone, especially Judith, from dangerous Lizzie. Like others here said how would they even take her around? Keep her in a cage or tied up at all times like a prisoner, That would never work. They could have been travelling with an entire psychiatric medical team and I don't even think they could help Lizzie at that point any more. She was to far removed from sanity.

    ReplyDelete
  78. That was one dark episode! I agree with Carols decision although it was horrible. What else could they do... Baby Judith would have been next.

This dramatic event deserved a whole episode for build up etc. But other than that, I hope the stop having one survivor group per episode. It gets a bit boring.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I really thought the actresses that played Lizzie ( Brighton Sharbino ) & Mika ( Kyla Kenedy )played their roles exceptionally well. I really felt that Mika was a rational, but scared girl and that Lizzie was the mentally ill.
Its a shame they both got killed off.
Poor Carol just keeps getting given crappy situations to make the best of.
Glad Tyrese told her he could forgive her.

    ReplyDelete
  80. You cannot argue past precedent in a zombie apocalypse.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Amazing episode, my favorite of the season so far.

    ReplyDelete
  82. If I hadnt read the comic, I would have been surprised...they are like the twin (?) brothers from the comic, one killed the other and carl killed him. I saw that coming, just like many fans.

    ReplyDelete
  83. WOW just WOW! what a crazy Ep and heartbreaking too see that Lizzie does not understand nothing about Zombies and Carol was trying too teach both of the girls but I guess it did not work for lizzie. I guess the Zombie Apocalypse makes people crazy in diffent ways.
