Some thoughts on the episode: - It was particularly strong & thought-provoking with regard to prejudice & gender roles. Other TV shows also recognize that women can have "killer instincts" as well as be mothers and wives, but the issue of how women are then perceived is rarely touched upon. TGW takes that step further and doesn't shy away from controversy, kudos. - It was such an emotional continuation of "Hitting the Fan". I liked getting a glimpse into Alicia's mind, especially given the stark contrast with her actions in the present. She clearly feels some responsibility about her betrayal to Will, otherwise it wouldn't have been so painful for her to revisit the past. - The whole diner scene neatly paralleled the elevator scene in "Hitting the Fan" where Alicia is escorted out of LG. As painful as it was to watch, it was quite brilliant, with all the business/personal complications. - "Alicia, when I'm broke and lying in an alley somewhere, do something nice for me." Ugh, that line though. - Julianna was fantastic in all her scenes! As usual. :)
I must say, I'm still waiting for Alicia to stop deluding herself and finally admit to Will the real reason she left LG. I know they're taking the time to build up to it, but I simply can't wait for that storyline to pay off. Even if Alicia/Will don't end up together, I need some closure.
I do honestly think it's coming next episode (the admission part, that is). Because people will start asking questions, personal questions, directed at Alicia. And we see from the promo she is avoiding to answer. But she'll have to, at some point. And then... god knows what will happen.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I cannot express my love in words. But... LOVE.
