According to TheFutonCritic, Season 5 of Glee will consist of only 20 episodes, instead of the usual 22.

    20 episodes is still a huge number for a series that even reached the 0.9 demo (and it was not a friday night).

    I really think the most recent episode of Glee would have been fine as a finale for the series - it was the first episode in a long time that i actually liked

    Maybe only a 6 episodes last season (as for Nikita)?
    I don't see how Fox can go any longer with those low demos, even moving Glee to Fridays.

    Either Murphy changes the pace completely for S6 or this show will have the biggest downfall ever. I know it will be the last season either way, but it's sad to see how awful it became.
    I hope he just gets rid of all the new kids, sticks to the old regulars and keeps it in NYC fulltime. Whoever is not living in NYC can come visit once during the season, to say a proper goodbye to the rest of the cast, and that's it, curtains, the end. Let Lea Michelle be free from Rachel Berry so she can do something else with her life.

    I'm thinking it'll be 6-13 as well.

    The numbers are low enough that it'll be surprising if it gets anything above 13 episodes. Rumors suggest that everything behind the scenes aren't so happy either.

    Why does everyone think that this is because of the ratings? Does no one remember that they started shooting a few weeks later than they were supposed to because of Cory's death and then stopped shooting again for another week or two to think how they should continue with the story following Finn's death.
    If the finale hadn't been scheduled for May 13 but for a few weeks later (but because of the May sweeps it can't be), I believe they would have had all 22 episodes like they they've always had. They just don't have the time to make more episodes this season.

    i know the series has gone downhill after season 03 (for me) and the death of Cory Monteith, but still I'm a little sad with this news and I hope season 06 will get more then 13 episodes.

    They shouldnt have but Fans who have stuck with glee since the beginning deserve an ending right? Glee was the first show Ive ever watched and Ive stood with glee no matter who made fun of me. I feel like I deserve an ending, the past episodes have been good (Not better than the first season but good) True fans deserve an end and Im glad Fox made the mistake in renewing it.

    Kinda, the new kids did a cameo. But the problem is you can't have a story built in one episode. My point is he should go other places with the story, places that do not involve glee club.

    I'm pretty sure the 20 ep is due only to the production schedule. They started later that planned and had to take an extended holiday break for the writers to change/update the storyline. We'll see about how many S6 gets, but I'll bet a full 22.
