I think Emily Van Camp has a good chance because of the Marvel movies, she only has a small role in Captain America 2 but is expected to have a larger one in the inevitable third movie.
Someone like Emmy Rossum I can imagine doing well in indie dramas and getting awards buzz.
Assuming the Terminator reboot does well then Emilia Clarke has the potential to be pretty huge.
Would love to see Tatiana Maslany hit the big time, she is so talented. I think I would prefer her in indie dramas rather than big blockbusters though.
TV actresses becoming major movie stars? That's quite tricky. The only one that stands out from that list is Tatiana Maslany, because she's been incredible in Orphan Black - and it's the perfect series to showcase her versatility and technical ability
lot's of them have potential like: Troian Bellisario Emily Wickersham Kaley Cuoco, Nicole Beharie, Nina Dobrev, Ksenia Solo etc. but I don't think it's much about potential more like luck in what Movie rolls they can land etc.
I'd also throw Rachel Brosnahan in the mix. She has done a stellar job in Netflix's House of Cards, and she's getting a bit more work here and there because of it. She's in The Blacklist next week
Sarah Bolger from OUAT Aubrey Plaza from Parks and Rec Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones Sophie Turner from Game of Thrones Katie Cassidy from Arrow
Peyton List from The Tomorrow People Claire Holt from The Originals Candice Accola from The Vampire Diaries Eliza Taylor from The 100 (upcoming)
I have nothing against Emilia Clarke but I just don't get all the hype about her. Yes, she has her moments on the show but overall I don't find her THAT talented. That being said, I voted for Tatiana Maslany, Emily Bett Rickards and Emily VanCamp.
Great actresses listed but most will probably only ever have great TV careers. I would love to see Tatiana Maslany succeed in movies (and I think she will)
Tatiana is easily the most talented on this list. I would live to see a long and full career for Nichole and Hayden as well, they certainly have the talent for it.
I thought Anna Sophia Robb was pretty good in The Way Way Back this summer as well as some other roles I have seen her in. Nothing against Shailene Woodley but I don't understand why she is getting every role out there right now.
1) Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) - she plays how many characters now on Orphan Black? I lost count! 2) Nicole Beharie (Sleepy Hollow) - she is a movie actress who became a TV actress with "Sleepy Hollow"............shout out to the "Sleepy Heads"! I don't believe Nicole should be on this list, but so be it then. She is having fun and getting paid for it on Sleepy Hollow, a great series I couldn't imagine without her. 3) Emilia Clarke - from the mousie sister of a maniac to the brave "Mother of Dragons"! Emilia has got range and "On Screen Presense" that puts her somewhere between Keira Knightley and Scarlett Johansson IMHO. Honorable Mention *) Ksenia Solo (Lost Girl) - a brilliant young talent who like Zoie Palmer is regrettably wasting her time and talent on Lost Girl. She needs to move on NOW, and Hollywood needs to recognize Ksenia Solo...............the sooner the better IMO! 4 EVER, Nobody!!!
What?? Define "Major" B/c i know that half of this list, most of the women have already been in movies, on numerous occasions on the big screen, so i don't see myself voting for them. Are we talking, Julia Roberts, Natalie Portman, Angelina Jolie, and Milla Jovovich status? Or we talking....Winona Ryder, Ann Heche, and Jennifer Love Hewitt status??
But I'm going to go with Nina Dobrev (the girl can act). And Nicole Beharie. I can see her moving up to Movie status. Instead of staying in the TV Realm. And as much as i love Naya Rivera even though she's been in the bizz since childhood, i still think she has awhile to go. Same goes for Emily Bett Rickards, love her, but she also has awhile to go before she should hit the big screens. (But both Naya and Emily can act well enough).
I couldn't agree more. I was stunned by her performance during season 2 of TVD, and she definitely caught filmmakers' attention. She stared in The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Though her character was a small one, she did have some pretty good scenes, and the film was worldwide known and praised. I can't wait to see her getting bigger roles! She so deserves it!
I surprised Nicole Beharie is on there, she has proven she can carry a film and has worked with some big names.... I think Emilia is going places, she is in a Global Hit Show, is in the Terminator Reboot and was voted Sexist women in the world [not that it matters but every bit of publicity counts right!]
Yes, they've all been in movies, but as you implied, there's a huge difference between being in movies and being a "major movie star" e.g. Dawson's Creek: Michelle Williams is now a major movie star whereas James Van der Beek, Joshua Jackson and Busy Phillips are not (even though they've all starred in movies).. Some might debated whether Katy Holmes is or isn't. However, she has starred in more high profile movies than practically everyone in the poll (e.g. Batman begins, Thank you for smoking, etc.), but it's subjective. Anyway, when I think of TV actors who ended up having major movie careers, I think of people like Katherine Hegl, Mila Kunis Ashton Kutcher, Jennifer Garner, George Clooney, Jennifer Aniston, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Bradley Cooper, Will Smith, Jessica Alba, Steve Carrell, Pierce Brosnan, Michael J Fox, Adam Sandler, TIna Fey, etc. etc. BTW, I still think of Winona Ryder as an A-lister because of her many staring roles in popular films (Age of Innocence, Heathers, Girl Interrupted, Little Women, etc. etc.). She's also received many film accolades (including an academy award nomination).
Yes, there is a huge difference. With this poll, I'm thinking of the past 10 years til now. I'm not thinking of as a whole. I mean you didn't specify, so i wasn't really sure what you meant in the literal sense. And as much as I love Winona, even though she has been in some great classics. (And is a good actress) Her career as a whole over the years has declined. That's why i threw her down there. She is better than JLH by far though.
I guess if it's still confusing after explaining in a paragraph, then I'm not sure how I could have made it completely unambiguous. Everyone has different interpretations. It's just a poll. Sigh.
Emily Vancamp is definitely gonna be big, her roles in Marvel and Revenge will surely boost that career. And she's a great actress. Emily Brett Rickard, Naya Rivera will too
Tatiana Maslany is playing 6+ characters in Orphan Black and doing a supreme job. I understand any hesitance with checking out a new show but this one is worth the time it takes to watch the pilot at the very least.
Without giving anything away. A woman(1) witnesses another(identical) woman(2) commit suicide and decides to impersonate 2 and live her life only to find that 2 was involved with a group that all looks alike. They're clones without knowing who was clones, why they were cloned or why they're being killed off. I'm currently watching 15+ tv shows and this is an original and welcome addition in my opinion, especially if you don't mind BBC shows(some people don't like them) It's worth 3-5 mins to check out the trailers
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Emilia Clarke

ReplyDeleteI would add:
ReplyDeleteCarly Chaikin from Suburgatory
Sophie Lowe from OUATiW

My vote: Emilia Clarke, Tatiana Maslany and Emmy Rossum. But I would add one name, that I'm sure be a big star in future: Lili Simmons from Banshee.
ReplyDeleteTatiana Maslany .

ReplyDeleteEmilia Clarke. I mean, she's fucking amazing.
ReplyDeleteProbably Hayden as she's already been in some decently known movies. I don't know who else.
ReplyDeleteLucy Hale ?
ReplyDeleteEmmy Rossum and Emma Roberts don't belong on this list. They both are pretty big stars.
ReplyDeleteMy top 3 are winning <3
ReplyDeleteEmily Bett Rickards <333333
ReplyDeleteNina Dobrev isn't getting the credit she should. You'd think that her playing so many roles at once would attract attention from filmmakers.
ReplyDeleteKiernan Shipka, Emma Roberts, and Emily Rossum.
ReplyDeleteEmilia Clarke, Tatiana Maslany, and Emmy Rossum. All phenomenal actresses.
ReplyDeleteEmily VanCamp, Emilia Clarke, Emilly Bett and Tatiana Maslany.
ReplyDeleteEmily Vancamp, Tatiana Maslany, and Emilia Clarke.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree. Until this season she never stood out as good or bad but I am really seeing her skills shine now.
ReplyDeleteShe is impressive!

I voted for her. Hell, i don't see anyone else playing 3 characters at once.
ReplyDeleteEmilia Clarke, Emmy Rossum and AnnaSophia Robb.
ReplyDeleteTatiana is one step below, she may be the most talented, but she should be more recognized. No one knows her outside from the TV series world.

ReplyDeletelol no worries. I wasn't taking it too extreme. Or extreme at all. It's all good fun. I still stick by my votes.
ReplyDeleteKsenia Solo and Tatiana Maslany :)
ReplyDeleteyes EMILY VANCAMP IS THE SHIT! 🙌 She's amazing!
ReplyDeleteEMILY VANCAMP ALL THE WAY! I mean come on she's about to be a hit in Captain America!

ReplyDeleteGive me some info on that show? I have too many shows. To check out anymore. But if u give me some info iI MIGHT check it out. Just the pilot.
ReplyDeleteKylie Bunbury - cannot take your eyes off her when she's onscreen.
