Press Release to follow.
Season 4 will be the last.
An Advisory from Syfy regarding "Being Human"
With the second half of "Being Human's" 4th season set to kick off, our human-at-heart characters are about to embark on a journey full of twists, turns and surprises that will culminate in a spectacular series finale on Syfy, Monday, April 7th.
Showrunner Anna Fricke and the talented producers, writers, cast and crew have done an amazing job bringing this show to life over the past four seasons and we sincerely thank them and the series' production company Muse Entertainment for their hard work. They've saved the best for last with the final six episodes that revisit the story's beginning, leading to a not-to-be-missed send-off for Aidan, Sally, Josh and Nora.
I suppose I'm okay with this. I always watch it when it's on but it was never a show I got overly excited about. Best of luck to the great cast. I hope hope to catch them on other shows somewhere down the line.
ReplyDeleteif they added a fifth one they could've taken the british original characters and wrapped up season 5s open ending and properly tying up both shows
ReplyDeleteOh come onnn! What am I going to watch at the 9 o'clock slot now???
ReplyDeleteWTF SyFy!!!! Being Human is such a great series!!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't be surprised if Josh ends up on Bitten lol
ReplyDeleteSyFy has been ruthless lately
ReplyDeleteWhat????? WHAT THE FUCK!!!! How the hell do you annouce this in the middle of the season??? Where the hell did that come from?? Please let this be a joke??? A Sick Joke!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst Psych is ending in 5 weeks. Warehouse 13 ends this yr and now Being Human!
ReplyDeleteHow could they cancel this show this was one of my favorite SyFy shows to watch!
ReplyDeletePsych's on USA network
ReplyDeleteHelix is likely getting cancelled too, then.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, better to announce it mid-season than after the season has ended on a cliffhanger. I assume they have had time to make a proper finish, at least.
ReplyDeleteBy the looks of the video, it seems as though this has been in the works for some time now. I'm hoping that means the producers have planned a series finale and not a season finale.
ReplyDeleteShhh! Don't say that!
ReplyDeleteSyfy can kiss my ass! This is bullshit! Being Human is a great series, they could've made it to season 5 and wrapped it up there! Not make a decision half way through the season. What kinda crap is that??
ReplyDeleteToo bad, it's a good show. Wonder if this affects whether Carver stays with Supernatural, as in his safety net is gone.
ReplyDeleteI thought Helix was a limited series.
ReplyDeleteIt's not really surprising, the ratings have been abysmal this season. It's been pulling 0.4-0.5 demo tops. Sometimes it didn't even make TVBTN's chart. Bitten and Lost Girl are even lower. When you think that MTV's Teen Wolf has been pulling 0.8-1.0 demo...
ReplyDeleteWhere did you hear/read that?
ReplyDeleteExecutive Producer Steve Madea said in a conference call a couple of weeks ago something along the lines of being cautiously optimistic about a season 2 pickup. No official word yet though.
ReplyDeleteYeah by the looks of the video. But hell they could've said this at one of the conventions! B/c it didn't seem like they were ready to cut the cord when season 4 Was starting! Heavy sigh. I am not pleased. And apparently April 7th IS the series finale.
ReplyDeleteHa! No idea. I have no idea why I was convinced it was a limited series. Weird. I'm obviously watching too many shows.
ReplyDeleteThey could've waited a bit. I mean honestly, ok the ratings are low, but it's still one of the best shows on Syfy! They could've waited for the ratings to boost back up before they made the announcement. Or they could've told us in the beginning of the season. If they had chosen that route, I wouldn't be so pissed now. At least earlier on, I could've been prepared. This is so out of left field.
ReplyDeleteThe same can be said for a lot of Syfy's shows. Haven got a 26 episode order with ratings worse than Being Human's this season. Bitten and Lost Girl are struggling as you mentioned. Helix and Continuum are performing worse than it as well. The only Syfy show doing decently (that isn't slated to be canceled like Warehouse 13) is Defiance. This seems like more of a budgetary issue. We know Defiance and their whole multiple platforms approach to that series (including the gaming) is costly. Syfy relies on cheap imports and reality tv to fill out the rest of their programming schedule. All roads lead to how much the net can make money off of the series (a.k.a. how much they think its worth now). It's too bad to see this show go. It had a great cast and a wonderful story.
ReplyDeleteThe said it will have limited interruptions (ads), not that's it's a limited series.
ReplyDeleteI think Farscape's cancellation fiasco left me numb to any of Syfy's decisions afterwards tbh.
ReplyDeleteI think you're expecting too much of these networks. I'm a die-hard full-time TV addict, some of my shows I wake up in the middle of the night for the single purpose to watch a new episode (time-zone differences) and even I know from experience of these types of situations that an announcement of a series finale at any point before the series finale is a sigh of relief. It's a sign the network cares about the fans and about giving us closure, whereas way too many shows out there are cancelled without any kind of conclusion, some of them on truly horrifying cliffhangers that can antagonize the most addicted viewers with grief for years. You really should try to be more happy that Syfy cares enough about Being Human to officially announce its ending beforehand. I would've given anything to have this happen to the first show that sparked my love for television, CSI: Miami. These are just my thoughts, though, and it's all ultimately up to you how you feel, but I just wanted to share them :)
ReplyDeleteSo 2 of my favourite shows are ending soon being human and warehouse 13 screw you syfy.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that they at least knew ahead of time. But oh *rap how are they going to end things? They better end it right!
ReplyDeleteThe ratings for total viewers for Haven were a LOT higher than for Being Human. Haven got like 1.72 million for some of the episodes. I love both shows. And I would have loved to see a season 5 of Being Human. Unfortunately, the total viewers for Being Human went down. Which is so disappointing because it's a wonderful show with an amazing cast. Season 3 is when it really reached the bottom because the episodes would get less than 1 million viewers. I think they knew then that season 4 would be the last to wrap up the story. It's sad. I would have loved to see more seasons.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering how long they knew because I wish the writers would have started bringing some of the story lines to an end sooner and dealt with others more.
ReplyDeleteBelieve me, I'm really not expecting too much. And as being a die-hard TV fanatic. Trust me when I say, I have been a victim, of the networks you're talking about when they do give cancellations w/o notice. (Mostly b/c they're not expecting to be cancelled) And tbh, completely used to that. It is what it is. But to SUDDENLY give this announcement, when I honestly believe they had no intentions whatsoever for this being the last season, is why I'm upset. As for the SYFY network. In all honesty, Being Human is my ONLY show on the network, always has been, and if I remember correctly, TPTB usually give earlier notice than this. So no, ATM, I'm not relieved at all by the early turn of events. But later, within the week, i'll be used to the idea. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteAll iI want now, is for them to wrap it up properly. If this has to be their last season, they need to go out with a bang.
If anything, I think he's be more likely to stay where he is now.
ReplyDeleteIt would be a dream come true, I didn't like the series finale of Being Human UK, then I watched the true ending on youtube and I was like "whhhaat? I want more!!"
ReplyDeletewell at least i know now so that i can focus on other shows.
ReplyDeleteTotal viewers don't matter nearly as much as demo. If you are targeting a high volume of 18-49 buyers with your commercials, you are doing well. I don't know if you remember the entire Harry's Law fiasco of 2011, but nearly 10 million viewers can't buy you a renewal when you have poor demo performance. Advertisers want viewers who have the most money AND are willing to spend it. They seem to believe that's the 18-49 demographic. If you have 1.72 million viewers of 56 year olds who won't spend money on your product, it means very little.
ReplyDeleteBeing Human was doing better than Haven in that demographic, but it may not have been doing well enough justify its production budget. That's too bad. I remember how strongly the show premiered. I wish more people would have stayed with it. It's been a real treat.
As for Haven, I think its 26 episode renewal was part contractual and part programming. It will probably end next spring.
Agreed! They need to give it a proper ending. From ALL sides.
ReplyDeleteThis is a terrible decision. I have seen both versions of this show and have a lot of respect to the writers who took the American version and made its own while respecting the British version's origins. This show has so much yet to offer and it's incomprehensible to me that SyFy would cancel this show in its prime.
ReplyDeleteugh I'm going to miss this show. I really liked this show, hopefully it ends with everyone's storylines getting wrapped up, since this show tends to end on cliffhangers. =/
ReplyDeleteWow, that came out of nowhere. I'm not happy. I hope they knew enough in advance to give the show a proper ending, I always thought 5 season would have been a good number for the show.
ReplyDelete4 Seasons that's it they could of done so much more but whatever hope for a spin off or something
ReplyDeleteYes i know i'm just naming shows that are ending this yr.
ReplyDeleteHavens ending in 2015 just you wait when the second half of the season is announced for its air date. syfy will release a statement saying haven returns for the final episodes
ReplyDeleteWarehouse 13, Psych and now Being Human cancelled--BUMMER. I hope to see the actors soon in other ventures. And thanks to Anna and Jeremy for creating the show.
ReplyDeleteWhat makes you say that? Helix has been great so far.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to cry, but well I guess this day had to come sooner or later, now I will be alert of the new projects of these 3 guys!!.
ReplyDeleteRatings aren't good.
ReplyDeleteIt does air on Fridays though that has to give it some leeway though right?
ReplyDeleteah hell no... Be it a good end for the sake of me...
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how you can't prolong supernatural shows man the materials is in the genes.
While I don't believe there's much more they could do with these four, I do think they should have kept going with a new ware wolf, a new ghost, and a new vampire, like the UK version did...
ReplyDeleteFUCK SyFy. First Eureka, then Alphas then, worst of all, Warehouse 13... This was the ONLY show I had left on SyFy. Guess I'm done with this network entirely now.
ReplyDeleteIt hit a 0.3 which is bad for a freshman show.
ReplyDeleteThat sucks. It's the only SyFy show I'm watching. :/
ReplyDeleteI don't watch this series, but I would have thought It would get a 5th season! Sad for the fans :(
ReplyDeleteI'm stunned. This show brought a lot of good ratings for syfy and then they just discard it like that? I'm really disappointed. What's worse is that they probably didn't give the writers the time they needed to end the series properly. Syfy always does this. They get you invested on a show and then they cancel it for no good reason. This really blows ... and not in a good way.
ReplyDeleteSyfy got a new program chief so I guess he will be cleaning house. I can't believe that they canceled the highest rated show on their network.... I am going to miss this show I thought it was really good. Hopefully they will get rid of all the stupid reality shows on Syfy also.
ReplyDeleteNo that just made it worse. I don't understand the need to kill off immortal characters and bring in new immortal characters for new material... there is no need. being of the immortal class material is endless.
ReplyDeleteIt does make sense for the show end with this season. I'm afraid if the show had continued to go on, it would have resulted in some of the cast leaving and being replaced by new characters like the original Being Human. I like the thought of it being Josh, Aidan, Sally, and Nora till the very end.
ReplyDeleteNOOO NO NON ON NON I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH
ReplyDeleteThis is why I refuse to support or get invested in any shows on SyFy, they never let them run long enough. They kill them when they start to get good, reach a point when people want to watch. Its like they plan this out to anger people to drive away viewers like they want people to stop watching the channel. Have seen it with so many shows that I no longer regularly watch anything from this channel and never will again. Got into several disagreements about Helix just waiting for them to pull the plug on it. The big joke is it should never of made it to air in the first place, and they are going out of the way to let it go on longer then it should ever be on air. But a show that people like to watch they kill as soon as they can? Just more proof that NBC needs to stick with screwing up its own channel leave others alone. Not like there is anything good on NBC to watch the only reason they bought SyFy other stations is to stop them taking viewers away from there crap shows. As soon as a show on SyFy starts to cut into the NBC viewers its on death row. The more people that watch a SyFy show and avoid NBC's crapfest the faster SyFy will end its run. Suddenly its not making enough money, or there is a problem with an actor's contract, or the advertisers all have issues. The truth is if you look at the ratings NBC's viewer numbers are down and the other shows are up. So to force people to watch the NBC Crapfest or some other Crapfest they kill what they own/control. Shows that suck that should not be on that don't pull a lot of viewers from NBC in fact push them to them. Or that they can make money but stuffing with add sales they let run wild like Helix, which I hate. Also no matter how good it would be as I say its a SyFy show and I am done with ever investing in a show on this channel as long as NBC has any control over it. So I hate all new SyFy/NBC shows no matter what. Don't even get me started on that Olympic POS that every other Network was forced into taking good programing off just so they would not lose their azz. Which I would pay to see them do, they are a Dinosaur in the computer world, they have no place in the modern world. The days of Media Corps are coming to an end my generation selectively streams what we want when we want it or watch nothing at all. We read online news sites like Huffpost, google, watch movies on YouTube other sites. If it wasn't for them screwing with Internet rates to stay in control they would be dead a long time ago. That is all Net Neutrality and laws like it are about to stop Multa Media Corps from stopping people from having a chose in not paying for crap we don't want to watch paying for things we don't even need. I stopped paying $190.00 a month for cable 7 years ago and haven't looked back or missed anything once.
ReplyDeleteBut, why is it over? Is it because the show it was based on it's long ended already? It's because of the audience? Man, you can not just throw away something like that
