So it looks like the speculation that Coulson was a clone was wrong. I guess he's still him.
I felt like some real progress was made in the centipede storyline. I guess nobody bothered to check the bombing site to see if Peterson was actually dead or not?
Poor Coulson. The scene where he kept on saying "Please let me die" was heartbreaking. So I guess the theory that he is an LMD is out of the picture? It seems so.
I loved Ward taking the leadership role while Coulson wasn't there.
LOL, at Skye impersonating May for a second there. That was great.
And it was so obvious that Mike survived the explosions but I was surprised he came back so quickly. I hope SHIELD can save him quickly from Centipede.
fantastic ep. Gave us a lot of advancement on Agent Coulson's mystery while still not divulging everything. Glad that Mike Peterson is still alive, but Centipede getting to him... uh oh... I hope that he makes it thru and that he might make the cast at least on a recurring basis, but preferably regular... Really great work by Chloe Bennet as she channeled her inner Agent May (foreshadowing perhaps?) and nice moment with Skye and Coulson..... Don't touch Lola!
I believe magnutude means when she meats up with Rathman and he's all ''who are you'' and she replies ''Agent Melinda May, from S.H.I.E.L.D.'', something like that! And, yes, that was a fun moment! And like you said magnutude, it might be foreshadowing: Whedon shows tend to do that! ^_^
It was my favorite episode of the whole show; beating FZZT for first place now! Very intense, very fun, very emotional... very everything! Loved it! :D
Great, way to come back from your hiatus with your greatest episode to date! Now let's hope that this puts down at least a fraction of the criticisms and talks of cancellation
First up I am so happy they did the usual comic book trope of making characters that seem dead be alive, welcome back Mike! Now we just need to get rid of that implant. Secondly Fury is even the world's biggest bastard or so utterly in love with Coulson he couldn't see him die so did this to him instead. Finally poor poor Coulson, what they were doing to his brain looked so painful. Look forward to getting the full story.
I knew Mike was alive, too bad he has a kill switch in his head. Interesting to see this storyline. Poor Coulson. I found his revival story kinda lame, not what I was expecting.
I'm remembering all the movies Coulson appeared in Marvel and there's nothing that shows Coulson getting zapped or come in contact with something that would explain his resurrection days after.
When they showed something green first thing came to mind was Gamma Energy lol
This was the stupidest build-up/reveal of all time. So Coulson's had major trauma, right? (death, basically) What do people go trough when under severe trauma? One or several operations. That's what the basic course of action is on the real world. So at the get-go, from the pilot, where Coulson is revelead to be alive, we can assume he went through at least one operation to survive his trauma. Also, he showed signs of altered memories, so we KNEW they messed with his brain. This is all information from the PILOT. Ten episodes later... the big reveal is... Coulson's had several operations. Duh. Dumb writers.
The extent of the surgeries and memory alterations were the biggest reveal, and that he'd given up and wanted to die. Plus the use of those machines which I'm guessing will be revealed to be otherworldly of some sort.
The technology and whatever else was done during those 7+ surgeries would explain the resurrection .... am guessing their was some otherworldly sources from some of it.
Well, they did replace the memory of what was done to him with a holiday in Tahiti so Fury probably figures he won't remember so do whatever needs to be done to bring him back.
I really like how they are becoming more and more a team with each of them playing a role in the capture in the beginning or when everyone helped get Skye of the plane, so she could look for Coulson. Also enjoyed Skye's search for him a lot, especially her impersonating May.
Ever since the pilot I was wondering what they did to Coulson, and after watching this episode I'm still wondering: What the actual fuck did they do to Coulson? That machine was literally poking his brain. That looked very unpleasant and I'm really curious how this revelation will affect him.
Kinda bummed to see Raina go, I kidna liked her and FitzSimmons' comments during her arrest were hilarious.
As for the nitpicky stuff: How the hell did May & Ward got from the 17th floor to the 33rd floor as fast as the accelerated elevator? They weren't even out of breath. They must be in great shape.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
So Coulson is still himself, just with his memory altered? He's not a robot or anything? I felt so bad for him at the end of this episode.
ReplyDeleteGo Skye! I love that she went off to try and find him on her own. And yes for Grant sticking up to her (and the team) like that.
Great episode!

Great episode. Lots of action and finally some answers.
ReplyDeleteWorst nightmare - Phil Coulson went through it.
Poor Coulson.
And oh no, Mike is stuck in the Centipede organization.

ReplyDeleteWhich part of the episode did she channel Agent May?

ReplyDeleteI think Sky is getting closer to become a SHIELD agent......we saw that she has been training and disarm a guard
ReplyDeleteI liked it, saw too little of May but still enjoyed it.

Seeing that Mike has a kill switch in his head, I think Raina will be back.

ReplyDeleteNo... the reveal was his memories were altered! We ALREADY KNEW THAT!
