Banshee - Episode 2.04 - Bloodlines - Preview and Teasers

This episode is essentially the conclusion of last week’s set up, the murder of Lana Cleary and disappearance of Solomon Bowman are wrapped up. We get to see a flashback to the actual crime taking place, for me seeing the trauma of it happening through the youngsters eyes are among some of the most disturbing scenes I think the show has done, though thankfully it is brief. It’s not that it’s particularly savage as such, but it is beautifully filmed and edited in such a way that you really feel the loss of the children’s innocence and control over the situation they found themselves in. There are other more brutal scenes in the episode, including some of torture, but this flashback is the stand out disconcerting one for me this week.

In the promo we saw Carrie tell Gordon that she’s ready to tell him everything, it really does seem like prison is breaking her down, and after a surprise visitor this week just how long will it take before Ana is forced to resurface again in order for her to cope with her situation? Going from the February press releases she will be set free next week and takes a road trip with Lucas, but now that he is seemingly involved with Siobhan I can’t see this ending well. Will see the two women go for each other at some point?

I'm really enjoying Kai and Alex’s face offs this seasons, it’s pretty obvious who always has the upper hand, Proctor sees through him so easily and in one scene this weeks lays out exactly why he is the stronger man. Until now it has been his sister who has supported him, without her I think Alex would have been crushed a long time ago, between the town's leading business man and the council the poor guy isn't in a very comfortable situation at present. But after Proctor brings him a peace offering that could placate the tribe, Nola decides to take justice into her own hands.

Bloodlines airs Friday January 31st at 10pm on Cinemax, below are some teasers to see you through until then. Don’t forget to come back and vote in our poll after the episode and let us know what you thoughts.

“Just tap your foot when you’re ready to talk”

“What is it with white people and chains, from the day you got here you've been locking people up”

“Once I have performed this little miracle you are going to disappear and we are not going to see, or hear, from your punk ass again”

“Mr Proctor, Alex, do I need to call the B.S.D.? I have them on speed dial”

“Yeah mom, where’s Ana?”

“Show some fucking gratitude and get in the fucking car, or I will run you into a wall and say my foot slipped off the clutch!”

“I wasn't a rebel or anything, I wasn't having sex or doing drugs, I just wanted to read, so I ran away”

“By getting scum like you off the street, I live just fine”

“We can stand here and trade accusations all day, the bottom line is your own people have lost faith in you and you have no one else to blame but yourself”

“When I come home, you can ask me anything and I will tell you the truth, maybe we can find our way back”

  1. Thanks for your kind words :) I think the flashback got to me due to it being youngsters being involved, I can't recall children being manhandled in such a way before on the show, even when Max was taken by Rabbit last season he was treated pretty well over all physically. Like I say though thankfully it is brief, and it may effect other viewers less I guess. Though I think the mental scars will stay with some characters for a while, which in some ways may even be a worse burden for them to bear?

Great review again, thanks. i'm really looking forward to this episode again, Your reviews always heighten the anticipation :-) I'm a little nervous for the flashback now....

As much as I like Lucas and Carrie, I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes with Siobhan. We never really see Lucas 'settled' with 1 person.
