  1. I noticed a little mistake today. In the second video with Harry and Vogel, he was talking about Dexters third kill and he was wearing his uniform. But I think it was in S1, when Dex remembered that Harry was sick (dying form cancer) in the hospital when he told Dex to kill the nurse (that was killing patients by overdose). The nurse was his first human kill. But Harry was too sick to go back to work. So, it makes no sense that Harry was sitting in his uniform and discussing Dex third kill.
"LaGuerta was a good cop. She was a good person" Oh, please, Deb! You hated her more than anyone else.
Psychopaths are alphas helping mankind survive and evolve? I really doubt that. Psychopathic
tendencies can be found in the most successful CEOs and politicians? And she thinks it's a good thing? How many people (mostly children) get sick an die cause this ah so successful CEOs use toxic chemical and materials in toys and food, cause its cheaper? And 99'9% of all politicians think only of themselves and how they can get richer and more powerful and they don't care how many people suffer or die because of it.
Deb killed him? Shit!!! It was actually her first real kill. I don't know what to say. But I think it won't be helpful. I never thought she could do it. True, she killed in duty, she killed LaGuerta to protect Dex and herself. But this was different.

  2. I liked the twist with dr. voegel's theory and the fact that they are deepening the idea of not labeling Dexter as a plain psycopath. I like the thought of the facets of Dexter's personallity and that maybe they were mistaken about him.

  3. The kills are giving me serious "The following" vides, with Vogel as the ring-leader

  4. Dr. Vogel definitely has some hidden agenda, and I wouldn't be surprised if she turned out to be behind these killings. She seems a bit off.....

  5. I think Harry was back at work when he walk in Dexter and freak out. He killed himself after that.

  6. I loved that, because we were always saying Dexter can feel and he isn't the average psychopath.

  7. Wow at debt killing el sapo I saw it coming once he was dead but major character moment there imo, Dex is right, the Debt we knew is gone. Deb-Dexter scenes killed me again. Deb's "I didn't want to hate you, I wanted the opposite" killed me. So intense. I have no idea how this thing will end, it really seems like it is impossible to have a happy ending.

  8. Well maybe it's not a mistake, but instead revealing to the audience that Dexter doesn't remember everything correctly...

  9. I like the Jordan Chase Vibe going here (as I thought this season might have similar S5 paralells!)

Speaking of which, Deb now has the makings to be a vigilante serial killer, since "Al Sapo" was a hitman (and meets the code).

I really like Dr. Vogel, but truth be told, like Dexter, I don't know if I full trust her. We don't know who it is on the other side of gun and if there is only one of them. So far, besides Dexter, the writers have not let us have a killing occupation cliche', but who knows what they'll do this final season, but I love the mother figure idea. But I could def see her experimenting by pinning her patients against each other to fight for the top of the food chain! (who is the biggest success of her legacy kind of thing)

Elway is interesting too, I wonder if he and Deb will have a thing?

I have a feeling either Jamie or Quinn is going to die, but if Quinn goes I hope he goes out protecting Deb (and Dexter).

Really interesting season so far...wonder when 'orchid girl' is going to appear and how that will complicate everything!?

  10. This episode title reminds me of the fourth Dexter book (and Hannibal Lector series -storage room included) "Dexter is Delicious" and in that book there is a cult with cannibalistic rituals.

  11. I am also looking forward to Hannah's return and how she will figure into everything.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ya. I liked how she acknowledged his need for "emotional connections" making him untypical of said label!

  13. "Hannabal" ?? XD

  14. Thanks ;)

It's not like Red Dragon wasn't referenced in season 6 and actually there's an episode where Dec goes to the 'tooth fairy's' storage unit-contrasting the scene here. And then of course in "Hannibal" (film/novel) we have brain-surgery-eating! (and the storage fecility ideas might be borrowed from "Silence of the Lambs")

    But I guess we'll see :)

  15. I loved the episode too!

I also like Vogel, but I definitely don't trust her. But she and MCH have good chemistry. I also like that she created the code. While others wanted Harry to be the sole creator of the code, it makes sense to me that he got the idea from a psychiatrist. Harry was a good cop and presumably a good man. It was always a bit of a stretch to think he decided to train his adopted son how to kill bad guys. The retcon doesn't bother me.

We don't know too much about Elway, but ever since I heard SPF was on the show, I thought he would eventually hook up w/Deb. Honestly, I thought he had probably followed Deb to the location and killed El Sapo. El Sapo (who I'm pretty sure was the guy Rick killed in an amazing moment in TWD this past year) closed the door on Deb, so how did she get out? Maybe I missed something, but I thought she was going to be locked in and someone would have ot rescue her. It was a storage unit, wasn't it? Can't they only open from the outside? Forgive my ignorance if that was a dumb comment/question.

I think the Jamie/Quinn relationship may be over. Quinn is probably still in love w/Debra. He, clearly, cared more about Deb than Deb cared about him.

What do you think of Deb's feelings for Dexter? She mentioned them again last night and said she couldn't help how she felt so I guess she's still in love w/him.

I have no idea when Hannah returns. Dexter is probably going to kill her this time around.

  16. Ya. I def think Quinnstill has feelings for Deb, but I wonder if he's going to try and pursue both of them and/or if he continues on with Jamie a bit long, if she won't get incredibly jealous and do something irration (there have been a couple times this season, where I think she has shown a more adolescent side and it reminds me of Christina Hill.

too wonder "how" Deb got out. I would be interesting if Elway followed and saved her and that there is more to Deb killing El Sapo than we thinlk?!

I do think Hannah will probably die, but I want what damage she'll do before that happens. (although there are spin-off rumors, so who knows what loose ends mighj await us at the end of the series! -I would love Lumen series, but I could also get into a Harrison series, especially if he ends up having a cousin...)

I also agree that Deb still has feelings for Dex. She is just afraid to embrace her feelings, plus I think she's transitioning yet again so I can see why she would be really hesitant to embrace him, let alone herself.

  17. In that season 1 episode, Dexter mentions that Harry lived for another year after that. He committed suicide after he walked in on Dexter halfway through his killing process.

Btw, I'm pretty sure Deb just said that thing about LaGuerta as an excuse for her being upset about her death.

I agree with everything else though... Hopefully they'll explain Vogel's motivations a bit better later in the season.

  18. I wonder. There might be more to the El Sapo shooting than Deb thinks. I guess we'll see :-)

I don't know how I'd feel about a Hannah spin-off. Hmmm . . . . that is an interesting idea. I hope she doesn't cause too much trouble for Dexter though.

  19. I always thought that Harry killed himself when he saw Dexter killing that drug dealer( who I always thought was his second kill after the nurse) I never thought he stayed around to see him kill so many people.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I remember that Harry survived two years after dexter killed that nurse...

    ReplyDelete
  21. I guess Jim and I both need to rewatch it. I honestly don't remember, except that there was additional time between events.

    ReplyDelete
  22. He had cancer. The pain made it impossible for him to work. According to S1 he was better after the nurse stopped overdosing his medication. But I doubt that he was good enough to go back to work.

    ReplyDelete
  23. "Dexter doesn't remember everything correctly" You're right. He didn't remember his mother or brother, he didn't remember the pictures he drew. But this is different. That was in his early youth. He was about 18 or 20 when Harry got sick and died, maybe older, I don't know. Do you know how old Dex and Deb were when Harry died? Either way, Dex was (almost) adult at that time, so his memory shouldn't be clouded.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Agree on LaGuerta

I too think that something is not right about Vogel. Can't wait to see where the producers are going with her.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm not sure, but I'll get back to you sometime tomorrow. (I'm going to go check the Dexter wiki out to see if I can figure it out!)

  26. Yawn, so the Vogel is the Brain Surgeon and she's slowly manipulating Dex into killing Debra. I expected much more from a final season... let's hope it doesn't repeat season 6 mistakes and actually make a surprise twist.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yes, do that :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Deb's story of her blanking out also made me wonder whether she really had killed him.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ok.

Dexter was born Feb. 1st 1971 (he currently is @ 41)

Harry Dies (in his mid-50's) 10 years prior to season one which is 1996 (the series starts in 2006) Dexter is then 25 when he starts killing humans (which would also be part of his collage years).

Looking to Dexter Wiki Kill List: The nurse is still listed as the first human kill and then the other two victims mentioned in this episode ("Every Silver Lining") follow before we get to some kills from Early Cuts/Dark Eco expanded universe stuff.

Here's the link to the kill list page: http://dexter.wikia.com/wiki/Dexter%27s_Kill_List

It's a little confusing still because there are victims that he didn't take blood slides from, but yet now 47 slides (with Donovan) are present by the beginning of the first season, but it means there have to be more victims, than what is listed. It's looking more like he had 50-some kills in a ten year period!

So if the wiki is correct it looks like Mary the nurse is still the first victim, but since the other vics don't have names or dates, we can't know for sure if Mary is the first human victim. I will have to rewatch this episode though to see what exactly Vogal and Dexter say about this other two victims.

  30. Right? I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't kill El Sapo!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Didn't Dex said that he kills since he's 20? I can't remember to whom he said it. Maybe Deb or Hannah, maybe Lumen?
I think he has about one kill a month, what should make 10-13 kills a year (maybe he misses a month or has double kills).
According to the flashbacks in S1 she was his first victim. He referred to her as his firs playmate, or however he calls his victims. And if I remember correctly, he admitted that it was a mess before he learned how it goes right.
I too have to rewatch it, but Harry said that the dealer was no.3. The nurse was no.1. Who was no.2? And wasn't that talk about Dexter accepting the routine or ritual or pattern, or however she called it?
I remember that Harry killed himself cause he couldn't stand what Dex has become. And now, that I think about it, I think the flashbacks in S2 showed how Harry walked into the bloody scene.

  32. The wiki page says there is a pimp in between the nurse and the drug dealer.

I will probably have time to rewatch Every Silver Lining tomorrow night to rewatch what was exactly said, but I think, after looking at the wiki, that things still make sense and are generally consistent.

  33. I rewatched 20-some minutes of the episode. I had some additional thoughts...
Vogal's patient (going with the idea that she may not be the Brain Surgeon) is her own child...the fact that the part of the brain was wrapped in butcher paper may suggest that the killer knows of Vogel's relationship to Dexter (and this is about "jealousy"). She was able to help Dexter and not this other person. Second, going back through the Harry time line, It's curious that Harry commited suicide right after talking with Vogal about the drug dealer. I'm wondering now if it really was suiside or if someone else killed him??
