-Ratings Breakdown:
In typical Monday fashion, ABC topped the overnights courtesy of “Dancing With the Stars.” NBC is the network to beat demographically thanks to “The Voice,” which is expected to feature the returns of Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green next season. And CBS has lost considerable steam.

Two-hours of “Dancing With the Stars” finished first overall for the evening with a 9.4 rating/15 share from 8-10 p.m., which was a loss of 17 percent year-to-year (versus an 11.4/17 on 5/14/12). Competing “The Voice” on NBC (#2: 7.1/11), of course, will clearly dominate among adults 18-49. And “The Voice” is the hot singing competition heading into next season.

“Dancing With the Stars” led into a dominant 7.3/13 for “Castle” at 10 p.m., while “Revolution” out of “The Voice,” which could have the advantage among adults 18-49, scored a third-place 3.6/ 6. Minus the lead-in support from “The Voice” next season, don’t anticipate all that much when “Revolution” anchors Wednesday at 8 p.m. Personally, I think that is too early in the evening for “Revolution.”

There were two season finales on CBS last night: “How I Met Your Mother” and “2 Broke Girls.” “How I Met Your Mother,” which finally revealed the identity of the mother, closed season eight with a 5.6/ 9 at 8 p.m. Comparably, that was right on par from one year earlier. Next was an encore of “The Big Bang Theory” at a 4.9/ 8 at 8:30 p.m. (#3), followed by the sophomore season-ender of “2 Broke Girls” at a third-place 5.7/ 9 at 9 p.m. While “2 Broke Girls” will certainly resonate demography, one-year earlier former time period occupant “Two and a Half Men” was notably stronger at a 7.5/11 (on 5/14/12).

Next on CBS was compatible “Mike & Molly” (#3: 5.6/ 8 at 9:30 p.m.), which featured a clever reference to classic sitcom “McHale’s Navy” courtesy of guest star Tim Conway, followed by “Hawaii Five-O” at a second-place 5.2/ 9 at 10 p.m.

In series-finale news, the two-hour sendoff of “90210” on The CW barely registered with a 0.6/ 1 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m. Comparably, that was 50 percent, on average, below year-ago occupants “Gossip Girl” (1.1/ 2 on 5/14/12) and “Hart of Dixie” (#5: 1.3/ 2). And it proves that this five-year old “Beverly Hills, 90210” revival never should have made it past season two.

Fox capped off the night with two episodes of demo friendly “Hell’s Kitchen” at an average 3.0/ 5 from 8-10 p.m.

About the Daily Ratings

Each day (except Sunday) we post the TV Ratings for the previous night.

The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).

Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.

Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database.
