better then the first ep, loved how liber8 and team keira have been split up/changed. Flashforward was really intense as well. Looks like they are going to make Carlos slowly more and more suspicious of Keira,, Until she finally tells the truth of course!
The old man Alec is indeed a slick bastard. The first three minutes of the premiere - IMHO - is him setting up memories in Kiera that already happened (but not for her), perhaps to help her/himself on how to deal with the situations to come here in the present (since young alec is capable of recording every piece of trouble she gets in, leaving for his future self to make the Loop).
OAN, The author may not be aware - or is totally aware (most probably this case) - of the Asimovian legacy (the Foundation series and its protagonist - Hari Seldon). Continuum is so much rich story-wise - getting conceptions from asian anime (section 6 is a crystal clear reference to Ghost in the Shell) to economics/sociological studies (from Adam Smith and David Ricardo to Marx and what else I haven't read/studied yet).
When he said that there is seven seasons' material worth and ppl thought it was a stretch (including myself).. well, I don't think so anymore!
The best of this episode: Alec looking down the soda he had to clean and became undignified about it, realizing what he should be doing is not at all that.
The "worst" part of it, yet 2nd best, was Kellogg's pimpping that bastard up LOL
I found this episode to be a one of the weaker ones. The future scenes were a bit contrived. Why was there a gun in the lab? Kiera's plan for transporting Travis was pretty weak. Why didn't they put extra restraints on Travis? The guy was able to beat up a room full of people while he was full of bullet holes, they know that he's super strong.
I did like how they kept developing the theme of how Kiera's secrecy is becoming a bigger hindrance for her. Gardiner's harassing her about it, Travis is using it to play mind games with Carlos, and she couldn't use all her tech to prevent Travis from getting rescued.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
