Synopsis:- CASTLE - "The Squab and the Quail" -- When Beckett is assigned to protect Erik Vaughn, a charming billionaire entrepreneur whose life is in danger, she's forced to reflect on her relationship with Castle which has begun to plateau. Ugh. I thought when these two got together we'd be rid of all the damn jealousy subplots. Also, since when do homicide detectives get assigned to protective details?
ReplyDeleteSo what in the hell is this? What happens btwn "Still" (5,21) and this ep? Plateau? They seem happy in the last ep so there better be a damn good reason for this whiplash like turn around.

Uh oh im more worried abt the fandom lashout abt this episode than the state of Caskett relationship!
ReplyDeleteJust try to take this in with a cool head ppl. Angst is not necessarily a bad thing. Anyone remember wht happened at the end of season4? ;)
I just think Caskett is approaching a lull period. Its not really moving forward and they are both trying to figure out whats gonna come next. They both still have issues, Castle has trust issues and Beckett still has some lingering insecurities. And i dont blame them. Knowing their pasts it all kinda fits. Its your usual emd of the season drama, which im very sure will result in a positive move forward for Caskett by the finale. Sorry for the long rant ;)
This better not be some "Limey" episode again. DON"T. NEED. OR. WANT.
ReplyDeleteThey've been happy & very domestic as of late so, yeah, I don't know what will happen in the span of 3 eps that will change that. They've been together a year, not multiple years .... and they've reached a plateau already? Really? Ooookaaaay!
ReplyDeleteI feel like this is a set up for the finale. A plateau as in where do we go from here kind of thing. They'll either break up or realize they want more from their relationship, like a real future together.
ReplyDeleteJealous Castle always looks like a sad abused poodle. I cannot do another "The Limey" like ep so I'm hoping this isn't it. That's all.

ReplyDeleteI don't watch any of the other shows (Bones, Grey's, Nikita, OuaT, Parenthood, The Good Wife) except for OuaT, so I hope the blind item is not about Castle!
Exactly, they have to move forward. People shouldnt worry so much :)
ReplyDeleteThere are so many reasons to believe that Caskett will not break up.
ReplyDelete1. Marlowe is not stupid, he knows people watch Castle FOR Caskett.
2. There cant be a show without Castle and Beckett investigating cases together. (not for more than 1 or 2 ep)
3. All the build up of 4 years, 1 yr of being in a relationship will be a waste if they will break up.
4. The Castle-Beckett is the centre point of the show. Other shows can go on with their couple breaking up, can you think that Castle can? I dont think so.
Maybe im just too much of an optimist but there is some logic in all these arguments. I hope they manage to ease your mind a little :)
ReplyDeleteIt's not that I don't agree with you, but maybe they're in for a temporary break-up and spend the next season getting them back together.

If they spend the next season doing the same things they did in the previous seasons, it kinda kills the point, no? ;)

I see a plateau as them just being really comfortable and maybe some of the thrill is gone cause its not new anymore and to me their relationship spans all the years. Saying that I see all of this as a great kick start to more from their relationship next season, an excuse to finally see them talk about their future together.

ReplyDeleteOne of the factors of Ausiello's blind item is "the break-up would give the series a lot of creative juice as it heads into what could be its final season." Castle's rating is still very good, going strong, and I don't think ABC have any reason to kill Castle, or let the show having its final season. Castle is one of of the best show on ABC right now, and I believe it would keep going for the 7th, or even the 8th season.
Personally I think the blind item would be the Nikita couple, or one of the grey's couples, and I believe Caskett would have their temp breakup before the marriage proposal.
well If i recall the spoilers i read recently there was oen from stana that said mini bumps and high stakes and bringing them closer so no break up i think its a greys or nikkita. now thats out of the way I am not freaking out about this remember eps 2 and 5 this season angst i good this sounds like remmeber the alex conrad ep from season 3 maybe this is similar also this soumds like a where are we going in the relationship kind of conversation setting up for the SF
ReplyDeleteIt would be damn hard to have a full in break up if Caskett. The show is called Castle if he is not investigating with Beckett what would the show be? I'm not saying they can't fight just not a full on emotional war as they are both to 'in' the relationship to be able tobe friends again. Plus, really 1 year and pull them apart, would the show survive the Caskett pairing makes the show. Otherwise it is just another police drama
ReplyDeleteI know I´m in the minority, but actually I liked "The Limey" very much...it was the 1st time Kate admited her feelings for Castle and also tried to talk to him about it; didn´t turn out good, but there was development towards advancing their relationship. So, maybe this will build into taking the relationship even further, or at least that´s how I see it...

ReplyDeleteA jealous Castle should show how much he loves Kate and at the end of the day, no one, and I mean no one can replace Castle in Beckett's heart.
ReplyDeleteThe jealous part doesnt bother me... we all know Beckett would never cheat although that dosent mean she may still be attracted to this person..... what bothers me is the "begin to plateau"..... I know what Stana said but since this is one of the last eps of the season what if they break up by the end the word plateau just freaks me out cause that translates into boring, or dull. However on the other hand this is the first real time this season for Caskett agnst so maybe , hopefully they are using plateau in the sense that each of them wants the relationship to go futher and they are just figuring how to do that.

The way I see the use of the word Plateau is like in the exercise sense. In exercise, when one hits a plateau, it means that they have hit a point where they have to step up their efforts in order to continue to progress. In their relationship, i see it as They've reached a point where the relationship won't progress if one of them doesn't take the next step.
ReplyDeleteSo, unless it comes in the season finale, I think this may be the episode where we get an ILY from Kate. considering "still" is a late season order episode and they didn't know it would be ordered until after the eps were planned out, I don't think it will be in "Still" like I think a lot of people are expecting.
Not to mention the fact that Marlowe has said, point blank, that he is NOT going to break them up. :) Don't people read his interviews???
ReplyDeleteThis is like where are we going in the relationship kind of conversation setting up for the cliffhanger of SF, that will include a tearjerker & the "plateau" 4 this 1 is to reach a state or not, or remain at a stable level of achievement in their relationship. Anything is possible is this epi "The Squab and the Quail"... But we all have 2 keep in mind that " A quail " is a small, migratory bird & "A squab" is a nestling pigeon... The only thing that we can do is HOPE FOR A HAPPY ENDING FOR THEM & FOR US..!!!
ReplyDeleteCaskett are NOT going to break up guys!!! there would be no show without them.lol. but it has to be the lingering question that comes in every relationship after a while. and in true Castle fashion, these guys are probably gonna hold out on the conversation until someone's life is in danger or something big and stupid happens. that's what a series is i guess, and this is the freaking BEST show ever made. plus, the season finale is gonna be a tear jerker, so this prob leads into that a little and then Boom!...Castle Babies. haha..vivid imagination coming into play. anyway, in Marlowe we trust! so stay ++:))
ReplyDeleteyes I agree. Plateau could be translate to a good thing but also the thing the freaks us out. Maybe in this context they want to think about their relationship but in a good way you know, more serious I'm guessing. And also I read an interview with AWM and he clears said that he will not break them out this season *and please to never ever*. I don't think we should worry about this. Pretty sure Marlowe knows what he's gonna do.
