Hmmm hard choice went for Blackadder though as I grew up on the series and still 20 odd years later laugh at the jokes even though I've seen them 30 times before.
definitely Blackadder altough Red Dwarf is a close second..maybe it's because I'm european but I've always considered british humor to be far superior than american..
There are just too many options. I voted for Coupling, simply because it's just the best show ever and I never could have decided between HIMYM, Friends, Scrubs and TBBT which are all awesome.
HIMYM by far is the best comedy of all time followed by Friends. IMO, these two shows are a lot alike but are completely different but I loved Friends back in the day and right now I love HIMYM it's my favorite show of all time I can't get enough of it.
95% of the users here are too young to have experienced proper comedy like "Allo Allo", "Fawlty Towers", "I Love Lucy" and such. Saying that HIMYM is one of the best comedies of all time shows ignorance and nothing else.
Some might say that assuming one's view of a "proper comedy" is definitive and insulting those who do not abide to those views might fall under the category of ignorant...
It's unfortunate that "I Love Lucy" probably won't get good recognition. But as for more recent comedies, Friends without a doubt. There's hardly a single episode that isn't hilarious, and paved the way for comedies like HIMYM (which, while still funny, isn't at the caliber it was in its early seasons).
I voted Other because the best comedy is the British series Not Going Out. I'm American and the only way to watch this show is either on Youtube or other websites, but it is totally worth it.
I voted for Friends thinking it was an underdog, what a pleasant surprise. Of course if my favorite all-time show Roseanne was here I would have voted for it.
Parks & Rec is a pretty close 2nd. HIMYM/Friends are about the same at 3rd/4th. I guess Arrested Development would be next, but I wasn't a huge fan of it, but it was still good.
That's my Top 5. But Community forever and always.
Without "I Love Lucy" and the genius of Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball, there wouldn't have been sitcoms as we know them. They still hold up after 60 years - Vitametavegamin anyone? After that - I'd say "Seinfeld". Young crowd on here!
Best comedy of all time is. Perfect Strangers. I am sure you love it, no bad language, there is much sense of humor you have to see it and sure it's great comedy.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
excuse me? where's the nanny?!

ReplyDeleteHmmm hard choice went for Blackadder though as I grew up on the series and still 20 odd years later laugh at the jokes even though I've seen them 30 times before.
ReplyDeleteChose Arrested Development.
ReplyDeleteHonourable mention - Community, Family Ties.
Easy for me. Fawlty Towers, nothing has ever gotten close.
ReplyDeleteOh Friends, I didn´t notice them :D I went with TBBT.
ReplyDeleteyeah i can see that. thank you. it was a rhetorical question

ReplyDeleteFriends is the most awesome and brilliant ever and the second is HIMYM!
ReplyDeletei knw that.. i just wanted to comment anyway :)
ReplyDeleteScrubs! Eeeeaaaaaaaagglllleee!
ReplyDeleteFriends, and it's not even close.
ReplyDeleteFriends, aunque muy cerca están Frasier y Senfield. Y me atrevería a incluir a Scrubs aunque con un humor algo más disparatado pero igualmente genial.
ReplyDeleteFriends first with TBBT very close behind. its hard to compare as they were on in different decades and my tastes have changed

ReplyDeleteBig Bang Theory, 2 Broke Girls.Mike and Molly's decent cause of Melissa Mcarthy. Friends was good in its day.
ReplyDeleteCommunity... Other favourites include Arrested Development, Fawlty Towers, Scrubs and Monty Python's Flying Circus.
ReplyDeleteMR BEAN!!!

ReplyDeleteJust one? That would be Friends. I watched I Love Lucy when I was a kid and I thought it was hilarious. Now I think it's just sad.
ReplyDeleteHow is Arrested Development not winning?
ReplyDeleteJust realised not all showed on my mobile. There are some real gems there, such as blackadder. Must admit I never could get into faulty towers.
ReplyDeleteGot to be Red Dwarf for me. :)

ReplyDeleteWhatever, Happy Endings and Two and a half Men are my favorite sitcoms.
ReplyDeleteHIMYM!
ReplyDeleteFriends! The episodes and the problem-of-the-episode are timeless. Smelly Cat! How you doin'? We were on a break!
ReplyDeletewere is will & grace?
ReplyDeleteFriends (but if I could vote for more, I'd vote for I love Lucy and Frasier too)
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt, Community.
ReplyDeleteParks & Rec is a pretty close 2nd.

It will always be Friends
ReplyDeletebut I also love HIMYM
Everybody Loves Raymond :(
ReplyDeleteI Love Lucy is a classic. None of these other sitcoms would have come to be if not for the brilliance of Lucille Ball.
ReplyDeleteYES!! HIMYM №1. But I want Scrubs №2.
ReplyDeleteWithout "I Love Lucy" and the genius of Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball, there wouldn't have been sitcoms as we know them. They still hold up after 60 years - Vitametavegamin anyone? After that - I'd say "Seinfeld". Young crowd on here!
ReplyDeleteRoseanne was a really, really good show. Very well done. Very real.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree. I'm not sure if many people realize how Desi Arnaz came up with the concept.
ReplyDeleteBest comedy of all time is. Perfect Strangers. I am sure you love it, no bad language, there is much sense of humor you have to see it and sure it's great comedy.
ReplyDeleteI can understand Friends, but H.I.M.Y..M??? so mercy people! I voted for THE OFFICE of course!!!!!
