Thanks to www.mycoven.com for the heads up and to andreas_ri/LJ for the titles. We've already posted a number of these but here is the full known list.
8.01: We Need to Talk About Kevin
8.02: What's Up, Tiger Mommy?
8.03: Heartache
8.04: Bitten
8.05: Blood Brother
8.06: Southern Comfort
8.07: A Little Slice of Kevin

Quite the names. Really? A little slice of Kevin? lmao
ReplyDeletesounds like very different episode and the tittles are very short
ReplyDeleteThey sound great to me. And did they change Heartache back? Didn't they change it to something stupid? Ah, well. I'm fine with what it is now.
ReplyDeleteThey are all great except for the 2nd one,,,That one seems a little stupid to me
ReplyDeleteI don't get into the titles until after I have watched the ep, then if I liked the show, I remember the title. The second one sounds????
ReplyDeleteKevin isn't interesting enough to merit multiple titles named for him.
ReplyDeleteIt was never changed in the first place, the third episode filmed (which will air as episode 2) was to be called 'Whats up Tiger Mommy' but some people got confused and thought that the third episode (which was the first filmed) was getting a name change.
ReplyDeletegreat names....wondering how will the winchester bros meet....
ReplyDeleteSo Kevin is important. Got it. I'm still betting that we're in for massive title changes before these episodes actually air. Definitely need to toss 1, 2, and 7. The one I like best in these is Southern Comfort.
ReplyDeleteSeriously? Two episodes with Kevin's name in the title and less than ten episodes apart? Sam and Dean are the main characters and they each only had two episodes with their names in the title, one in Season 4 and one in Season 5. We get it that Kevin is important but is this really necessary?
ReplyDeleteI still think that the season premiere (which is also the 150th episode of the show) should be renamed to a classic rock song (or album) title to pay tribute to the earlier seasons and one of the core elements of the show. We haven't had one of those in a long time.
"Heartache", "Bitten" and "Blood Brother" are okay but the others are not so great. I really hope they change them.
I'm not too crazy about the Kevin titles (it seems weird to have a character's name in the title), but it's nice to see some one-word and two-word titles again.
ReplyDeletetotally agree! just because the episode may be mostly about Kevin, doesnt mean you need to take away a creative title just to put the kids name in there. the writers are always so fresh and creative with the titles and always keep me guessing, but those two are a low blow
ReplyDeleteI think Dean has had 2. Is That You God? It's Me Dean Winchester in season 4 and the Curious Case of Dean Winchester in season five. That said, I totally agree that we have way too many episodes named after Kevin.
ReplyDeleteSam has also had 2 Its 'The Great Pumpkin Sam Winchester' and 'Sam Interupted'
ReplyDeleteKevin centric again. There was a book written by a Chinese woman about her parenting style of pushing her kids called something like Confessions of a Tiger Mama.
ReplyDeleteHeh did you guys know that 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' is a movie haha?
ReplyDeleteOf course people are complaining about Kevin's name being in episode titles. This wouldn't be SPN fandom if folks didn't complain about any character other than Sam or Dean being important.
ReplyDeleteha, did not know that, thanks. I always say if I don't learn something new everyday the day is wasted, now I am good to go for this day. lol
ReplyDeleteJust cause it has Kevin name in it doesn't mean it will be 100% aalllll about Kevin and a huge full on Kevin centric. The 4x02 had Dean name in it and Sam had his part to play too, so did Bobby. Only the second one with Dean's name was a little more Dean centric and even then, it wasn't like the others characters weren't in the episode
ReplyDeleteSame things for the 'Sam's episodes', they talked about couple of Dean's issu in the episode too in Sam Interrupted.
You're right. I forgot Sam, Interrupted.
ReplyDeleteIt still doesn't compare to 2 episodes in one season with a minor character in the title and a third that may relate to him.
Southern Comfort like it another drunk episode?
ReplyDeleteI like Blood Brother...mainly because that like a summery of the show all wrapped into one title...lol. Looking forward to that one being emotionally charged...
ReplyDeleteI should have better phrased my comment. They each had two episodes.
ReplyDeleteDean: "Are You There God? It's Me Dean Winchester" (S4) and "The Curious Case of Dean Winchester" (S5)
Sam: "It's The Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester" (S4) and "Sam, Interrupted" (S5).
Usually I'm not one to nitpick on episode titles but it didn't sit quite well with me that a character who only just came on the show already has two titles with his name and possibly a third referring to him. Even Bobby has had only one ("Weekend at Bobby's") and he's been around since Season 1. Castiel who has been around since Season 4 hasn't had even one.
I don't like the Kevin in your face titles, but as long as they bring it strong in these episodes and in future episodes im ok with it.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they may change it to advance placement.lol
"We Need To Talk About Kevin" is a film. I think they really just wanted to poke fun at the title. LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the Kevin titles yet, but I like the others. I hope they don't change them too much, I mean they could still change, right?
ReplyDeleteMy guess is In the context of the episode it actually refers to Dean and Benny in that they have a deal of sorts, Dean owing Benny and Benny needing Dean to repay the favour.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of Sam and Dean I'm gonna guess that we learn via flashback why Sam is no longer with Amelia and I think it has a lot to do with Sam not able to let go of Dean, hence the episode being emotionally charged?
actually I would say both Dean named episodes were fairly Dean centric where as Sam Interrupted was actually more Dean centric than Sam in the end and Pumpkin had a only slightly more Sam than Dean.
ReplyDeleteKevin's name in the title doesn't mean a lack of Sam and Dean it just means the episode will be about Kevin.
None of these titles really do anything for me. Glad to see Kevin Tran show up. He's in advanced placement, you know.
ReplyDelete''Kevin's name in the title doesn't mean a lack of Sam and Dean it just means the episode will be about Kevin ''
ReplyDeletePretty much what I'm saying. Some people seem to panic already that it will 100% be a Kevin centric with the boys in the backseat
If I have my episode timing right, Southern Comfort should be the the return of Garth. That's continuity right there. :)
ReplyDeleteI believe "What's Up, Tiger Mommy" is a take on an old Woody Allen film "What's Up, Tiger Lilly" which was a spoof of an old japanese spy film. Not sure where they're going with that one.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Kevin is their goal? Maybe they have to retrieve him from Crowely... or he escaped Crowely and everyone is looking for him.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested most in What's Up, Tiger Mommy? The title just 'jumps out' more than the others.
ReplyDeleteHeartache, I'm sure it'll be an episode where both brother talk about how it was like being away from each other. Sam having no clue where Dean was, Dean being stuck in Purgatory... maybe they'll also talk about Sam's relationship with Amelia.
I don't recall Sam, Interrupted dealing much with Sam at all. Lotta Dean issues in that one.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about the Kevin episodes, to be honest. Kevin Tran. Advanced Placement. :D
ReplyDeleteI can't wait until October! This is going to be exciting.
could also be a reference to the MOTW
ReplyDeleteI think so, given DJ's return to set falling around episode 6 filming time.
ReplyDeletegiven how Dean's storyline will be connected to the seasons mythology I dont see how he cant be important in these episodes which are likely to be myth heavy? Jensen has been filming a lot this season already so the episodes are likely to be very Dean heavy.
ReplyDeletewell yes, Dean was the Wynona Ryder character while Sam was the Angelina Jolie. So we got a look inside Dean's head much like in the film but saw that Sam was really the one with the with the issues/the crazy one but didnt get in his head much also like the film.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, have liked Kevin and can't believe it is still more than a month before my favorite show comes back. Looking forward to this season.
ReplyDeleteAlready complaining and episodes haven't aired yet. I will never understand this fandom and all the complaints. I don't have a problem with the titles and I find them intriguing. I wonder what new story Jeremy Carver and friends will tell us about Kevin and how it involves the boys. Looking forward to the season.
ReplyDeleteI dont think the titles really matter tbh, I just like trying to figure out what the episode might be about.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why so many people are bothered about the episode titles.
Kevin means mythology. What we know so far is that Crowley wants Kevin to read the word of God on a quest for something(s). At the moment all we know is the boys and Crowley are trying to find a powers source of some kind.
ReplyDeleteI think Kevin is the tool that both Crowley and the Winchesters need in order to achieve their goal more than him actually being the goal.
ReplyDeletethe film is based on a book
ReplyDeleteThe only time we've seen a character with a name in an episode, except for Sam and Dean, was Bobby ("Weekend at Bobby's") and THAT was after he had been in the story line for years. Even Cas has never warranted having his name in an episode title, even with his popularity and as long as he has been in the show. {We've had episodes ABOUT Cas, but never his name in the title.} Yet uber-boring Kevin just recently shows up and suddenly TWO episode titles in season eight? I didn't care for the character very much in season seven and am actually rather disappointed he seems to be so 'important' in season eight. They could have given us a more interesting prophet, if they were going to use one.
ReplyDeleteI kind of liked Kevin, he reminded me of Chuck..I'm a what?? A prophet? He played it perfectly I thought. I don't really care what they name an ep, as long as the show itself is good.
ReplyDeleteBlood Brother is my favorite title so far.
ReplyDeleteI like We need to talk about Kevin but the 8.07 sucks!
ReplyDeletethere's literally a movie/film that came out recently starring Tilda Swinton called "We Need to talk about Kevin" based on a popular novel, so I understand that one. But the "Slice of Kevin" is kinda off-putting.
ReplyDeleteWhile I understand them trying to capitalize on the movie, I refuse to believe the season premiere will be called this. What a lame title. If they really want it, let it be 8.07 instead. At least that would be trading one lame title for another.
ReplyDeleteI liked Kevin more than Chuck so I too am excited to have him back, especially since he appears to be directly tied to the mythology.
ReplyDeleteNot me, I like Kevin and he will grow on me I think, but will have to grow a lot to beat Chuck.
