If this isn't a procedural, CBS better give it a chance and not cancel it after one season. This looks like something that would have been an HBO darling.
Wow...looks really good! Didn't know much about this one before but I'm interested now. Carrie-Ann Moss is a plus. It doesn't look like a CBS show though.
Really impressive cast, and might do well with the older demo that seems to be very faithful to CBS programming but not really my kind of show. I do like that even though this is another period piece (ala Playboy Club and Pan Am) but CBS is trying something outside the box that might have some appeal for their faithful demos...
I think the problem with the most recent period dramas that tried to capture the magic of Mad Men is that they got it all backwards. Mad Men is brilliant because the story and actors are brilliant, not because it is set in the 60s.
Pan Am and Playboy Club both played up their era more than their story and had sub-par actors for the most part. (Yes I'm looking at you Eddie Cibrian and Amber Heard!!)
This looks to concentrate on story and has brilliant actors. Never a bad way to start a series.
Red Flag number one Bunch of Film actors trying their hand in TV, Red flag number two, bunch of middle aged film actors tying their hand in TV, Red flag number three, Period TV don't work too well. I'm not sold.
I know some people think it's cool to have big names in tv shows but I'm of the opinion that they accept only because they don't get offered good movie roles any more, and it annoys me that they come to TV as a second choice just for their pre-pension pay-checks.
Then I'm not fond of prequels of any kind and this is one I believe.
The sixties is also a border-line era. It's too recent to be called historical but it's too dated for modern tastes.
I'm fascinating by how Vegas has been built and a series the beginning of Vegas is AWESOME ! I'll definitly watch it. In addition, Jason O'Mara is on it ♥
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Wow. I initially wasn't interested in this at all, but this trailer may make me change my mind.
ReplyDeleteThis actually looks good.. but, is it just another CBS procedural? B/c that'll stop me from watching, dead in my tracks! Can someone confirm?
ReplyDeletenot my thing but kudos to CBS for doing something different for a change
ReplyDeleteIt looks pretty good, and the cast... well let's just say it seems damn interesting!

ReplyDeleteI have to agree with your first two points.

ReplyDeleteno interest here for me one this one, looks boring
ReplyDeleteLooks good, but I stay away from CBS procedurals like the plague, so I hope it's not one of them.
ReplyDeletewow this looks awesome! this may be the best new series this fall! is this a procedural? it looks like its serialized which is awesome!
ReplyDeletealso dennis quaid in a tv show?? COUNT ME IN!
ReplyDeleteI need to see an actual promo for this and not a behind-the-scenes thing. Can't tell if this show will be good or end up boring. Great cast though!

ReplyDeletealso... How can they make 22 episodes of this a year without diluting the quality of the show?
ReplyDeleteI think that is always a concern for network shows honestly.
ReplyDeleteI find most 22+ episode seasons have about one-third filler and one-third mediocre episodes with one-third being really good episodes.
