  1. Being Human is trying to take away Sherlock's crown of messing with fans emotions! I knew it would end in tears but it was still beautifully done and Russell Tovey is an amazing actor who will be missed.

I love the future aspect because I love that kind of thing, will be interesting to see how Eve kills herself isn't that paradox???

Oh and I love Tom! Hal we haven't seen enough of yet but I liked Pearl.

Overall I feel relieved by this episode and have a good feeling about the rest of the season.

  2. What the frack show?? No Mitchell and no George now too?? (not too fussed about Nina). Poor Annie.  NO idea where they are going with this magical baby story but I love Annie so I'll stay to see it play out (although she had better develop some kickass ghost powers that extend beyond crying otherwise this season is going to grate.)

  3. what the freaking freak man....i don't know if i should scream or cry my butt off...i guess both...
i did have a good cry when George died...and i am excited about whats to come...wish they would have had Nina at the door waiting on George when it opened.. that would have been a very good moment... but  great start.. to the season...

  4. I'm not sure what to make of this series 4 premiere honestly....

    - I loved the peek into the future. It adds gravity and tension to every other episode this season...
    - I liked Griffin mocking Tom's mumbling! XD
    - Weasley the Vampire Recorder who was a bit too into cos-play killed me! XD

I like this looming mythos they added but it seems to completely change the series for me. Now the quirky humor I enjoyed seems to fight the drama of the overarching story and it feels off-putting to me.

There's one other aspect I did not care for at all. The biggest question in everyone's mind going into this season was how will they show be without Mitchell and George (and for some people Nina too I suppose), and this episode did not answer that question at all. We already know Tom and we can feel a bit of what he will be like as the wolf of the house, but we barely got to see the new vampire at all. That is my biggest concern and nothing in this episode showed me what the new vamp will be like.

This episode felt more like an homage to George and a hero's sendoff than a proper season premiere to me I guess. I think it would have been a great 2-hour movie between seasons, but it just did not alleviate any of my concerns going in.... Annie still annoyed me, Tom was still more of a follower than a leader, and I still don't know exactly what the new vamp will be like.

Over all I guess this was just an okay episode for me.
I just don't think it's a good thing that I was FAR MORE interested in the future side of the story than in the present side of the story. I kept wanting more of the resistance and vampires run amok all over the globe. That interested me....  How this season will pan out? I still have no idea......

  5. Not sure the rest of the season will be any good without Mitchell, George and Nina. I mean yes you have Annie and Tom(I don't really care for Tom) but I mean really the writers are going to have to come up with something great in order to keep me interested. I will watch the nest episode and if that episode is no good then I will have to stop watching this show. I'm not sure where they are going to take the magical baby story line either since its a baby and can't so anything. So yeah I will watch next week and hope to not be disappointed.

  6. all my home is on the US version now. and hope they don't kill of Mitch-Aiden. i am done with UK shows i dont trust them. they are not loyal to fans the actor change bugs the heck out of me. first Nathan from Misfits, then Mitchell from Being Human, ya bye bye UK shows.

  7. Listened to Toby Whithouse's explanation of the changes and completely understand them - He doesn't expect actors to stand still and as the UK doesn't lock the actors into the same types of deals they do in the US that means they move on to other things when the time comes.  Aiden Turner was almost completely unknown off before this and now he is off doing the Hobbit,  Russell Tovey has a tonne of things in the works.

Toby Whithouse also said that he fully expects the new lot to be moving on in a few years too to do a lot of things.  And them moving on means he has to up his game on writing.

But that doesn't mean that the actors aren't loyal to the fans, they just move on before the part gets stale, the trick is, as long as the format allows for it, is making sure the writing keeps going and gives us interesting stories and this series for better or worse looks like it is going to be a lot more action heavy than the rest.

Also can you think that they could have done the story they did last night in any shape or form if Mitchell was kicking about?  George would not have been in that warehouse by himself or forced to sacrifice himself because Mitchell would have been there.

As for Being Human US, as much as it has started to diverge personally can't warm to it.  Maybe I will one day but am still stuck comparing the characters at present and I'll probably be doing the same for the US Misfits when it turns up and I find I do it for the US Shameless and I did it for the US Life on Mars too.

  8. For a Brit is seems a bit bizarre to be stop watching top quality shows like Misfits or Being Human just because of cast changes.  It's still the same (fantastic) writers and basic premis will continue in exactly the same way, this happens often in UK shows and it rarely changes the series.  Fans are loyal to a show and all the people who work on it, behind the camera or in front of it.  What you have posted makes it seem that USA fans are just a fan of certain actors instead, and that no credit is given to the other 90% of people involved...that's just nuts!!

  10.  I've had the same thing happening to me for a few days now, not sure what is going on.

  11. My only problem with the episode was the scene where Annie let the baby go.  After her last vampire encounter seeing her so completely ineffectual was annoying.  Actually, it pissed me off.

The vamping the Vampire Recorder was doing to save the baby was hilarious.  I knew he was lying when he started in on the ritual and the robes, but I thought he wanted the glory.

Have we heard about werewolf blood being toxic before?

I like Colton and his plan to distract humans from being afraid of vampires by giving the werewolves sounds like a much better start.  (He was making some great points at the meeting.)

I like the new vampire.  I didn't expect that we'd be seeing an old werewolf.  That was interesting.  Not on board yet with Eve going back in time to kill herself, but I'll happily wait and see how it plays out.

  12. "Now the quirky humor I enjoyed seems to fight the drama of the overarching story and it feels off-putting to me."

That puts the perfect words to what was bothering me during the baby ritual scene.

I didn't have a problem with this episode being a transitionary episode.  I'm not sure anything else would have worked.  Killing George off off-screen after killing Nina off off-screen would have been far too jarring, for me at least, especially considering George was a character the original series was built around.  So, wrapping George's story and having the new vampire just knock on the door in the same episode.   eh?

  13. When you say these shows aren't loyal to the fans are you talking about story directions or just writing out characters.   In all the examples you give the actors decided that they needed to move on in which case the show had only two choices; shut down or make changes.  Unfortunately, these types of shows can't get away with what daytime soaps do in that situation (just hire a new actor to play the character.)

  14. Yeah I'm still not sold on this year either. Annie was always my least favorite roommate and now she is front and canter crying and being ,well... Annie.

Babies very, very rarely help a show and more often than not make me stop watching all by themselves....

Never liked Tom much, I wish it was his dad still on the show!

  15. I'm not sure they could have done the episode any differently as it relates to George dying... They needed the transition, but I still would have preferred a Christmas episode with George's endgame and then start this season with this season's cast to get everything rolling....

  16. I can see your point with some shows that are very character based, procedurals in particular.
I cannot see it for serialized shows as much since sometimes lead characters SHOULD be killed if their part of the story is done and their death is part of the rest of the show's story....

Being Human is a different animal though, for me at least. It was not about some larger story. It was about three roommates trying to have a go at being human.... The stories were mostly personal and related to those three characters, four if you count Nina later.

I completely understand losing interest in a  character driven-series based on 3 or 4 specific characters when 3 of them leave at once.

I'm not sure it's all UK shows though, although I will admit more UK series are story based than character based like so many US network shows. That's what I tend to like about the UK series actually! XD

  18. I thought it was a pretty promising start. Nina's off-screen death was a bit jarring - and more brutal than I thought it would be. I figured she'd died in childbirth but to have her beaten to death was pretty shocking. Devastated at George's death. It really had to be the only way for Tovey to leave but it was a heartbreaking end. As for Tom - I always liked him and look forward to seeing him coming into his own. The future scenes were very intriguing.
The only weak point was the vampires. I didn't miss Mitchell as much as I thought I would given that I've had time to get used to his departure but the new vamps were a bit underwhelming. Hal's proper intro is next week so will reserve judgement on him but I'm glad Griffin was killed off - he was a poor villain. The other vamp who survived (Cutler?) just annoyed me.
Generally, a pretty good episode and there's enough there to keep me coming back another week.

  19. Oh, that's right.  UK shows do Christmas eps.  That's not a luxury we usually get in the US.  The only shows I know of that did specific Christmas eps were Eureka and Wharehouse 13.

  20. Right just got the episode in the US... Insane I really thought it was going to be more of the same and they would write some absurd way for Mitchel to come back. I'm very glad they decided to shake things up and bring in new characters.

  21. I am liking the US version better this season, they are not just using the scripts from UK and redoing them slightly.  I am not a fan of Aidan/Sam Witwer but am loving Henry/Kyle Schmid and the fact they kept his name from Blood Ties, that was cool, sure hoping he is not killed off any time soon.

I will stick with UK for a while to see where it goes, but so far I still don't like Annie or Tom.  Hal looks promising, glad Nina is gone.

  22. Last year I liked the UK version better, but after this ep and the start US version has had they are winning for me.  Since I did not like Tom AT ALL last season and now he is a lead, not looking good.  Annie was never a favorite of mine and glad Nina is gone, but Hal looks interesting.  Looking forward to seeing what his character is like.  The Eve story is something different and watching that play out could keep me involved.

  23.  Ya I didn't want to say it here because hard cores get upset but I do like the US version better, I think the characters are just stronger and more likable. That was largely why I was glad they got rid of Mitchel and George (nothing against the actors)

  24. The US version used so many of the same plots from older UK shows that when I watched them I already knew what was going to happen.  This year they are going off on their own stories and I like it.  Would love for Henry to play a bigger part and they can kill off Aidan, this is one story I would not mind them following UK show. lol
